Villa Pomogna is a newly built villa with two levels and a lovely patio. The patio is with two levels where in the upper level is the eco pool (chlorine free) while in the other a patio with a sitting table covered/shaded by a unique huge oak tree.
The villa is built rebuilt keeping all traditional Cretan architecture. The materials are just wood and stones. The housetop of the villa is by woodas well as the top level floors. On the first floor there is an entrance if you park the car from the back side of the villa. As you enter the main entrance left and right of the corridor you have two double bedrooms, one of them with a double bed while the other has two single beds but can easily converted into a double one. There is also a bathroom with bath and a lovely balcony with nice views to other Apokoronas Cretan villages.
The lower floor consists of a huge fully equipped kitchen a spacious living room with a 46' LCD TV a small balcony, the main living room with the fireplace and a WC. From the lower floor you also have two doors leading to the villa's private patio.
The patio is separated into two levels, the top level you have a 16 sq. meters private pool with eco cleaning system (chlorine free). The lower level of the patio has a huge OAK tree which make enough shade to enjoy your coffee, lunch and dinner all day long. There is plenty of space on the lower level of the patio for the kids to play or for the adults to enjoy. There is nice portable BBQ facility for those who love to cook outside.
The villa is a part of Pemonia housing estate. Pemonia is a small traditional Cretan village within Chania prefecture in the region of Apokoronas. It's a pure village away from busy areas and untouched from massive tourism. You can enjoy your holidays and at the same time feel like a real Cretan. The only sounds that will come in your ears will be birds, some goats or ships and voices of the passing villagers, saying Kalimera (good morning) or Kalinixta (good night).
If you're looking for a quiet traditional Cretan village then this is the perfect place to stay. Pemonia and villa Pomogna is away from massive tourist areas.
We (family with two children - 5 and 2 years) enjoyed our stay at Villa Pomogna very much. The house is located in Pemonia, a small village on a hill - an ideal place for those who seek calm and a place far way from the touristic centers. Living there gives you the impression of being a part of the "real Cretan live". Nevertheless, it only takes you 15 min to get to a fabulous beach and approx 30 min to Chania and Rethymnion. (But please note that a rental car is a prerequisite.)
The villa itself is spacious and very nicely and modern done up. We found there everything we needed. The house is new and very clean; and we really appreciated the cleaning service twice a week. Furthermore a baby bed and high chair are available without any extra costs. It's very nice to sit on the patio under the big old tree - the perfect place to relax.
Last but not least Penelope and George - the owners - have been very helpful with everything - incl. sightseeing or restaurant recommendations - and welcomed us with a great hospitality.
We arrived at the villa with no experience from this type of vacation. Never been to Crete before, and wanted to try something else than all-inclusive hotels where everything looks the same.
We have 3 boys, 6,,11 and 14 years.
They loved the house with good wifi, the space and the pool.
The neighbours are close, only Greeks, so you feel like you live a real village-life.
They are all very friendly.
And it's true, the only thing you hear is a goat, the smith doing his work for the day and the rooster.
We used the car every day. You have to drive to go to the minimarked. We also went to different beaches. This is the best part of beeing in Pemonia. It's like a different world, but very close to so many things. We drove through 2 villages to get to Kalives, where we spent most of our time. Only 10-15 min drive. Beautiful beach, great food! We also spent a day in Almyrida, couple km from Kalives, my favourite! Charming, green sea, rocks and sand. We went for a boat-trip there, visited caves and snorkeled.
We also went for go-cart nearby Chania.
We all really recommand this villa in Pemonia. The service from the owner, George, was perfect.
I miss my morning-coffee, overlooking the village and the relaxing atmosphere.
We stayed in Pemonia for two weeks and enjoyed it very much. The villa is spacious and equiped with air-condition in livingroom and the bedrooms, what made our sleep restful even in a hot august night. Everything was very clean and we missed nothing. Our daughter enjoyed the pool a lot! From the terrace behind the pool you have a beautiful view over olive groves while you yourself sit in the shade under a big tree. It is not far to visit Chania or Rethimno (30-40 min) or the beautiful beach near Georgioupolis (20 min, visit the Paradise beach bar!). A stay in this villa is a recommendation
Extremely comfortable and relaxing space, tastefully decorated and fully kitted out with all you may need.
The beds were fantastically comfortable.
The kids enjoyed the pool - the jet stream provided lots of fun games for them.
Very helpfull owners that immediately offered to solve any issues that occured during our stay.
I wholeheartedly recommend Villa Pomogna and the Apokoronas area.
We had two great weeks in the villa in Pemonia.
Pemonia is a small village, on the side of a mountain. The villagers are very friendly, and they immediately made my wife, our two children and myself feel very welcome, by waiving when we drove by, saying Yasas when we met in the street, and the neighbor wife even bought oranges for our children.
The villa is really nice and newly renovated. The renovations have been done in style with the old building style, and the house has a great style in furniture, lamps and so on.
The rooms were perfectly suited for a family like ours, two adults and two children (age 8 and 6), both for sleeping, relaxing, cooking and so on.
The villa has two balconies with great views of the village and the mountain sides, and a great area around the pool, where you can find both sun and shadow.
The pool area is great as well, and our children could stand on the bottom in the low end (depth 90cm) and swim in the deep end (depth 140cm). The water is kept clean without chlorine, so our children enjoyed hours of fun in the pool most days, without getting red eyes.
Driving from the villa, you have five-ten minutes drive to many great tavernas, ceramics artists and wonderful views and walks.
We went on several trips, where we drove between 1-2 hours, and that will take you to places like Elafonissi, Knossos, Chania, lots of beaches, and the other side of the island (Hora Sfakion). Way more than what you have time to see, in two weeks.
We loved living in an area without too many tourists, and having the opportunity to drive for a short while, when we wanted some of the more touristed attractions.
George and Penolope who owns the house, was a great help and they are very friendly people.
Thank you for a great vacation.
We sure want to come back.
Photos are very accurate. Everything was very clean, newly decorated and furnished. Very quiet location. Good choice of outdoor spaces to sit.
We had a lovely stay in this very well appointed house. It is in a very quiet location in a village in the foothills of the white mountains. The house has everything needed for the comfort of the occupants. The pool provided a relaxing end to a day's sightseeing. The house is in easy reach of the main road east/west on the island. A perfect location to either relax and do nothing or to be active and visit the sights/walk in the mountains. Highly recommended.
