Rainbow Arch is beautifully restored and finished to a very high standard. Superb lighting, large modern kitchen/living area and underfloor heating for cooler periods are some of the many features of this delightful house, which still retains its attractive white stone and wooden timbers. Attention to detail was a priority in its design, and it also incorporates facilities for people with reduced mobility. There is one bedroom on the first floor with and en suite bathroom. The other larger bedroom is on the ground floor and has a very spacious ensuite bathroom. There is a TV in both bedrooms as well as in the spacious living and dining area. The white stone walled private terrace and garden is ideal for barbeques, relaxing (and ensures that any young children are safely contained!). Les Arches de Muschamp are expertly restored original stone buildings set in gently rolling countryside between the historic towns of LOCHES and CHINON. The property is on the edge of a small hamlet just 1 km from the typically French village of CUSSAY. Having undergone a total restoration MUSCHAMP ARCHES has kept all its original charm but has been designed with utmost comfort in mind. Attention to detail is the key and in these properties you should find everything you need in a rental home, done in a style that 'makes you smile'! Even the lighting has been well thought out, so that you can 'enjoy' at whatever time of day.
Outside space is also most important when you are on holiday. The terraces and outdoor areas are superbly equipped. Upmarket comfortable outdoor furniture including tables, chairs, gas barbeque, parasols and sun loungers have all been positioned in the private walled gardens. Plus modern patio heaters are positioned for the cooler evening.
Rental includes no extra hidden charges, all bed linen and towels are provided so on arrival your beds are made up, all you have to do is put down your bags and relax.
The properties have underfloor heating for the cooler months and Angel's Arch has a wood burning stove for cosy autumn/winter evenings. The outdoor patio heaters prolong the outdoor living and there are electric fans if you need to cool off in very hot weather.
Comprehensive guest notes help you quickly find all the local interest sites including recommended restaurants and local festivities. If you need any help to organise a day out, book a restaurant or just generally finding your way around, no problem. There is always assistance available! The owners, Janet & Stephen Scollay, have been living in CUSSAY for some ten years, speak fluent French and have an excellent knowledge of the local area.

We have been living permanently in France for the last 10 years. My husband and I both speak very good French. We actually run a horse breeding farm just 1 Km away from the property where the holiday homes are situated. So we are very familiar with the area and are happy to recommend local restaurants, vineyards, chateaux & interesting places to visit as well as local events. Cussay is a great location as there is so much to do and see in the area for adults and children alike. We have put alot of time and effort as well as love into the renovation of our property to ensure that it is really comfortable for you and has every modern amenity, but at the same time it retains its unique charm so special in the Loire Valley!
What makes this House unique
We love the area because it has a good feel about it. People in the shops and villages always say Bonjour and the countryside is always beautiful to the eye, whether it be spring, summer, autumn or even winter. It is so conveniently situated. Close enogh to the larger towns and near to all the wonderful Chateaux of the Loire Valley and other attractions. It is so easy to fill a week or two with things to do. You will never run out of things to do or places to visit! Plus it's only one hour to Tours and you can get to Paris from Tours in 55 minutes on the fast train. Tours airport is only 50 minutes drive from CUSSAY. We like the very light evenings (light until 11pm before the longest day of the year) and the 'big' skies are just breath taking. The weather is good too!! The stone built homes that we live in have a charm about them, so all in all it's a great place to be!

Relaxation amidst the fields
The cottage was beautifully presented with all the comforts that you could want for a relaxing holiday. The facilities were first rate with two bathrooms and a well fitted kitchen area. Outside the tables and chairs were great spot to eat and the barbecue a useful feature. We spit our holiday between visiting chateaux and relaxing at the cottage. Our children particularly liked having the gym available to use. Overall a very enjoyable and restful place to stay.

Very clean, spacious, well equipped and not far to drive to the Loire's best chateaux. Lovely welcome from Janet who gave us so much useful advice for visits during our stay, that we didn't have enough time to visit her horses or use the fitness room enough ! Recommended…

Set in the gently rolling countryside of the southern Loire Valley the region is perfect for a complete break. Yet there is so much to do in the area. Just 20 minutes from the bustling medieval town of LOCHES and within one hours drive of the wonderful Chateaux of the Loire Valley. But if you want to just enjoy the countyside there is plenty of possibilities to walk or cycle with footpaths and quiet lanes starting from the house.
Major chateaux and wine areas are within one hour's drive. Plenty of wine tasting opportunities.(Tutored wine tasting groups can be arranged).
The local village of Ligueil with its Monday morning market, has a varied programme of outdoor fetes and attractions from brocantes (those wonderful French fêtes) to music festivals and outdoor theatre. It also has a well landscaped public park and outdoor swimming pool with tennis courts. Restaurants, cafés, supermarket, bread and butcher's shops, newsagents, bank and chemists can all be found here.
The medieval village of Loches, with its large bustling market on a Wednesday and Saturday has a plethora of cobbled back streets and little squares where you can enjoy a coffee or lunch on the terrace and watch the world go by. There is an excellent selection of small shops/boutiques and restaurants as well as a fascinating chateau with a 'real' dungeon. (Fascinating for the children!)
Chinon, just half an hour by car is set near the confluence of the river Loire and the Vienne and has a dominating fortress (recently restored), which looks down onto the picturesque town with many shops and eating possibilities in the pretty squares and lanes.
Tours, 50 mins, is called the mini Paris because its architecture and boulevards are in a similar style and is a great shopping or cultural day out.The old town (Vielle ville) is a fabulous area to visit with many eating places and wonderful cafés with sun terraces lining the tiny cobbles streets. From here you can take the TGV to Paris and be there in 60 minutes, plenty of trains every day.
The Brenne which is a bird spotter's and nature lover's paradise is just over an hours drive, here you can either delve into the bountiful wildlife or relax on a sand beached lake.
There is a wide range of children's activities in the area including small themed parks, adventure centres, various zoos of which Zoo Parc de Beauval (one hours drive) is an extremely well run example of a wonderful zoo which boasts two giant pandas. It is set in immense grounds and offers daily displays that will fascinate and amaze. The world renowned Futuroscope is 45 mins away and is just as interesting for adults as for children.
La Rochelle and Ile de Ré are the nearest seaside resorts, 2.5 hours drive. Ile de Ré is very pretty with its green shuttered cottages and fishing ports houses many second homes for the rich and famous - property prices reflect this!
Nearby activities include tennis, horse riding, canoeing, fishing, swimming, horse riding.
In fact if you like horses the owners of Les Arches de Muschamp have a stud farm breeding horse just five minutes drive from the property. You can watch the young horses doing their daily training and see lovely mares and foals!
There is also a good golf course nearby.
You can visit a troglodyte village, lots of markets and summer festivals,vineyards and see the wonderful Chateaux of the Loire Valley.
For those who like fine dining there are two Michelin star restaurants nearby, notably La Promenade (Jackie Dallais chef) in Petit Pressigny whose wine lists is renowned for being one of the most extensive in France. (Prices for a Michelin * restaurant are very reasonable). In additon there are many wonderful places to wine and dine. A list of which can be found in the gites.
