Absolutely stunning lakefront home (one of my 3 available to you) sits on 300 feet of shoreline on Miles Kale Lake in northeast Marion County (between Ocala, Gainesville, & Palatka) near Orange Springs, FL. Incredible renovations were recently completed including a fantastic addition. The Great Room of the house, built in 1949, sports beautiful tongue and groove wood paneling and a beamed ceiling. The new addition includes a convenient large gourmet, dine-in kitchen, a spacious laundry/pantry, a new full bath, and a fabulous screened porch overlooking the lake. Large Pella picture windows allow viewing the lake while cooking, dining, and relaxing. This tranquil lake retreat is minutes from the Ocala National Forest, numerous springs, the Ocklawaha River, and the charming towns of McIntosh and Micanopy. The dock is great for fishing and the lake for swimming. Miles Kale Lake is about 40 acres. Check out my other homeaway lake places -- listings 117133 and 910353.
Activities & Attractions: Tranquility, views, relaxation; swimming, fishing, boating -- sandy bottom, spring-fed lake; snorkeling in the springs; using nearby rivers (Oklawaha, St. John's); Silver Springs Amusement Center; University of Florida & Central Florida Community College; Ocala Horse Farms; McIntosh 1890's Days; Micanopy artist town; easy drive to either coast (Daytona or Cedar Key); Disney - 2 hours.
The house has new, outstanding mattresses in the bedrooms: a Supplepedic Memory Foam mattress, and a new Serta Pillow-top comfort mattress. The trundle bed in the sleeping alcove makes two twin beds and has two new single regular mattresses.
To accommodate a seventh person, there is a twin mattress under the queen bed in the master BR. It can be moved to the living room.
Other Lake Options: I have two other lake cottages. One is next door on its own acre. It is homeaway listing/Property ID 117133. This allows guests the option of having large groups or reunions close by to enjoy being with one another. I have rented both cottages for this type of gathering many times. Then, on the next lake over, big Island Lake, I have another fabulous home in the woods: homeaway listing/property ID 910353. It is a fantastic 2BR/2BA large redwood cottage with the option of a guest house on the same property. This retreat sleeps up to 9 comfortably. It too has a dock and boat house.
A native Floridian, this lake property was owned by my grandparents and my parents. The lake was one of our vacation homes where we spent time as a family and enjoyed being with our cousins who owned the cottage next door. The ten of kids had a blast and were always challenging one another on water skis, swimming, and many other activities.
Edward Wynne purchased this house in 1955
It has been in the family for over 60 years. The cottage was extensively renovated and upgraded recently. It is rural, quiet, and beautiful.
Close to Ocala National Forest, natural springs, and Atlantic beaches
This house, and it's owner made my 10th trip to Florida the only one I have EVER enjoyed. The house is wonderful. The kitchen has everything you need.
Ed makes the experience that much more wonderful for you. He is a true, honest, gentleman.
If you value a vacation at your owe pace. Lot's of privacy. Nature all around-yet close to the city, this is the best of the best.
I can't praise Ed enough!
Thee Four Horsemen came down from SC for the weekend to catch the South Carolina/FL game in Gainesville and we couldn't have gotten any luckier that we found this little slice of heaven. The house was very nice and perfect for a guys trip. It's right on the little lake and we were able to get a little fishing in before the game. Ride to Gainesville was very easy and little over 30mins to get there so we would recommend this location if anyone stays in the future looking to catch a game.
We would definitely stay here again should we ride back into the Gainesville area.
Beautiful House, Beautiful place the house has everything that you need for a long stay.
For sure we'll be back.
My parents were able to meet their 5th greatchild from michigan. We will definitely come again.
My honey and I spent the weekend at the lovely Hypo Haven while in town to go zip lining. This wonderful lake house has all of the comforts of home and the property is beautiful. We couldn't have asked for a better get away. The home was immaculate upon our arrival (thank you Wanda) and our booking experience was made very easy by the owner Ed. It has been a pleasure and we will definitely be back. Thank you.
By far the best equipped home/kitchen we've stayed at so through Home Away. The lake house was well appointed with about everything you could need. It was very clean as were the grounds. One of the most restful vacations we've had in a long time. Even the grand kids, who came to visit from Gainesville, loved it, especially swimming in the lake. The description of the house does not do it justice. We tip our hats to Mr Wynn as well as Wanda. The one drawback was the distance to a full size grocery store. However, just a few days before we arrived, a fairly well stocked grocery opened in Citra, about 11 miles away. Their chicken and steaks were very reasonable and fresh. It wasn't until the next to last day, that I discovered the bass catching secret, live bait (shiners, get them in Orange Springs) and fish the lily pads with heavy line. We loved it and will be back.

Two of my 3 homeaway listings are on Miles Kale Lake next door to each other. Miles Kale is a quiet small lake. On the next lake over is Island Lake on which I have my biggest lake home. See the map. They are within several 'blocks' of one another. Each home has a wooded acre associated with it. Two cottages share 300 feet of shoreline, an excellent dock, and a boat ramp. Miles Kale Lake is about 2 miles from the intersection of Marion County Roads 318 & 315 in Orange Springs, Fl, 32182. This unincorporated community sits on the northwestern edge of the Ocala National Forest and Lake Ocklawaha. The Island Lake house has a gorgeous lot, dock, and shoreline as well.
Other Activities: river kayaking, snorkeling in springs
Golf: There are public golf courses in the three surrounding cities: Ocala, Palatka, and Gainesville.
