About Albert Brum
We built this house from 1992-1997. It was a labor of love. We thought we should share this home with other folks who want to enjoy Acadia Natl Park
Albert Brum purchased this Chalet in 1992

Beautiful, secluded property
We enjoyed our stay, overall, at the Brum Chalet. The home is beautiful and we enjoyed the seclusion. It's about 4 miles from Bar Harbor and about the same in the opposite direction to Seal Harbor and Little Long Pond (excellent for the doggies!). We like our privacy, so this was a perfect location. If you like to be in the thick of the action, this might not be for you. We also had our husky, Onoko, with us. Be warned: there are lots of stairs. We come from a one story and she was frightened at first to come up the deck stairs (she refused to go through the garage... silly husky!). This is not a good property for those who have mobility issues or with older dogs. I am also a teacher and needed to take my laptop to communicate with students and grade course work in the evenings; aside from the first night, we had no issues with the internet and I was able to log in to our University system without issues for the rest of the week. The only things we felt could be a little better (thus the 4/5 stars on some items above) was the TV is advertised as Direct TV satellite, but the only channels you get are infomercials/home shopping, some sports, and cartoons. You will not get any local channels to watch your favorite prime time shows, as those are HD and the service doesn't include any of those HD channels. The other thing was that the pillows were a bit flat and hard and could use some upgrading. Other than those two little things, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we would not allow those two little inconveniences keep us from returning to stay at this property.
The chalet lies at the end of the road on a beautiful piece of property. A small stream runs along the edge of the road. Perfect location for day hikes, and far enough from town to escape the crowds. Very private and quiet. The chalet exceeded our expectations, and we hope to return again soon.
Perfect launching pad for exploring all the wonders of Acadia National Park
Off the beaten path and seemingly away from it all, the Brum Chalet provides a great base from which to set out to do all your favorite things at Acadia: hike the trails, bike the carriage paths, kayak, poke around the small towns and harbors, and of course eat plenty of lobster, blueberry pie and popovers! Comfortable, spacious and fully stocked with everything you might need, the Brum Chalet is a wonderful place for families to stay while enjoying the wonders of MDI and Acadia National Park.
We loved staying at this hideaway in the woods !
We hated leaving ,,,
It’s a very well built home and I enjoyed chatting with the owner on its construction !
Beautiful property, incredibly rustic location but close to all the best of MDI, & the house is gorgeous. Highly recommended. Note, the satellite TV doesn't get actual channels but the satellite internet is surprisingly brisk (usually those services are very slow).
Perfectly Located, Cozy, and Comfortable Cabin
Our family of 5 and our small dog thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Brum Chalet. Everything was as pictured and described. Plenty of space with comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen. The location was perfect for exploring Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island. We would love to come back soon! NOTE: Follow the directions provided by the owner to get to the cabin, especially at night. Google Maps will try to send you down a route that is unpassable.
We are located in the heart of Acadia National Park. Walk out the door of our home and you can hike, walk or take the Island Explorer and enjoy all that is awaiting you. We are a short walk to the part loop road and Otter Cove. Enjoy sunrise up on Cadillac Mountain or take bike rides through the carriage paths throughout the park. Hikes and walks abound. Take a whale watch or puffin trip. Also, there are several kayaking tours available. Bring your own kayak and put right in at Otter Cove. Climb steep mountain trails. Stroll the seashore and beaches.
Other Activities: art galleries, boat charters, sightseeing at Acadia Natl Park
