What you see is not what you get

We rented this apartment for a long anticipated vacation in London. When we arrived, we were seriously disappointed. The apartment is NOT as pictured. It was a basement unit -- and very poky. There are big doors between the bathroom, bedroom and living area. It's dark and you look out at concrete. As others have said, the neighborhood is awesome but it was not the charming/efficient flat we expected. To their credit, the rental agency was totally accommodating -- let us out of our rental agreement and off we went to brighter shores. I have NO complaints about the agency -- thesqua.re -- and have told them they need to relist this unit more accurately. I would not hesitate to rent from them again BUT would ask for a unit on the higher floors OR for a more accurate description of this particular flat.

Great Place in London

Close to the Tube, grocery, restaurants and bars, and is on a very quiet street. Our apartment was not the one in the picture but similar. Ours was in a basement, so had to have our bedroom blinds drawn all the time because not used to urban foot traffic. The kitchen had a huge window and let a lot of great light in and no people were visible, so the blinds were left open during the day. I would stay there again.

It has an american queen size bed, so was roomy enough for the two of us. A good size hanging closet and mirror, great washer/dryer unit (although no instructions came with it - I looked it up on the internet), great kettle, toaster, fridge, oven, stove, iron and ironing board, drying rack for clothes was handy too.

There was a couch in the kitchen/common room, but I wouldn't think anyone could sleep on it. This apartment only sleeps two, which is what we were told when we talked to the management. I was happy with booking this property, all very professional and helpful.

We were only given two bath towels and hand towels (nice quality and bath products and blow dryer) - but we stayed for 7 days so should have been given more. I'm sure they would have brought new ones, but we could have washed them had we the need.

One concern for older people would be the tub is quite high and so it is very hard to get into and out of the tub - the shower part is great (hot and good pressure) and the apartment had an automatic hot water heater which was brilliant.

It is a quiet street but major construction is going on early morning across the street and on the other side of the bedroom wall. We needed to be up early so really not a problem.
