the farmhouse Castelet is located southwest of the town of Fontvieille, just 7 km from Arles, at the locality of Castelet. Former BERGERIE twelfth, was restored in 1984; one floor with its beautiful arches, is cradled in the rock, which guarantees freshness in summer. a covered terrace allows to enjoy the sunset while drinking an aperitif.
the panoramic pool with 200 m² of stone beach and Fontvieille 100m² Pool cover fits beautifully in flowers and trees. a summer kitchen with an awning attached to the rock where you can have meals enjoying the amazing views.
you can also enjoy on the olive groves bordering the Sheepfold
We stayed at the Castelet for 10 days. The house is beautifully decorated and comfortable, with three bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths it comfortably accommodated four adults and one child. The outdoor space is a dream with a big pool and a cabana with chairs sofas and tables; it was the perfect afternoon setting.
The location of the bergerie couldn't be better. Private and peaceful yet still close to the places to visit in Provence. The house is just minutes away from Arles, Aix-de-Provence, and Saint Remy.
The owners Frederic and his wife were very welcoming and provided information about restaurants, farmers' markets, and the region, and received us with a sampling of local wines and olive spreads and fresh apricots from the farm.
If we have the chance, we'll definitely be back!
This charming and beautiful home was all that was described. It was beautiful, peaceful, and maintained impeccably. The owners were caring and wanted us to feel right at home. The pool area was perfect and near the house, but private enough to feel apart if there is more than one couple staying at the house. It was easy to cook, with a nice grill area, and large enough for several people,to cook together in the kitchen. We loved being there and never wanted to leave! Overall a great experience and we will return.
This restored farm building is beautifully furnished with all the amenities necessary for relaxing and feeling at home. It is not far from a small, charming village and a very short drive to Arles. The owner, Frederic, is warm and welcoming. (He speaks French and Spanish with some English. )We loved our stay there. You can cook your own meals or go to one of the many excellent restaurants nearby.
We had a wonderful stay at “Le Castelet” which is very well hidden behind the rocks and cannot be seen from the road, making it very quiet.
Once we arrived, the place turned out to be even prettier in real life then on picture. A bowl of fresh local fruits and products were waiting for us along with a warm welcome by Mr. Bert, making us forget the voyage and traffic jams very easy.
A very nice embedded swimming pool (including large pool house to relax), overlooking the Provence country on one side, a very well equipped and maintained house on the other.
In the spacious house the living and dining room makes you feel at home and invites you to relax and cool down whenever needed.
Dining outside on the patio (with a state of the art gas cooking plate and fridge) having a pastis and Rosé de Provence with the family, what more do you need?
Only a few minutes away from Fontvieille village, “Le Castelet” is a perfect place to make excursions to Arles, Avignon, Les Baux, Saint Remy and, not in the least, the local wine houses. We visited and bought wine and olive oil at “Le Mas de la Dame” which is worth a stop.
Only a few minutes away from “Le Castelet” you find the Aqueduc Romain and Abbey de Montmajour, both must do’s.
All in all, a 5-star location that calls for a re-visit over time.
We spent one week with my family in that very cosy and well decorated Bergerie. When we arrived we were host by the owner which was very kind and very helpful. The house was clean and the owner kindly filled the fridge with water, rose, champagne and their home made abricot jam. In my view the best part was the swimming pool, perfect size, nicely set up, with a nice view on the abricot field.
Worth adding that all windows are protected with mosquito net, however make sure you have anti mosquito body spray if you are seating outside in the evening. Overall fantastic place with a great swimming pool.
The history of Castelet looks closely follow that of the metropolitan area of Arles, and is intrinsically linked to the territory of the Alpilles and the Rhone. Founded at the beginning of the sixth century BCE (or even the late seventh century) but frequented since Neolithic, the oppidum of Castelet developed in contact with the first Mediterranean -étrusques shops, Greek, italics and a ibériques- original facies which most likely rub shoulders native population and Greek or hellenization population.
you can find all the history of the Museum of Castelet ARLES ANTIQUE.
You can also visit the tomb of Castelet 500 meters of the property.
Diners for the village of Fontvieille offers 1 fish restaurant located on the northern route, restaurant Provençal friend church square, and restaurant the Square. restaurant must Alpilles BISTRO at Paradou Arles 2 also addresses not to be missed, and the Gibolin GALOUBET.
