Amazing experience! Loved loved loved this place!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in February 2016 and my boyfriend proposed in the cottage so it holds so many special memories for me! Perfect spot for a proposal or romantic break or equally for a family getaway. Beautiful walk to Kinsale and also walking distance to some beautiful restautants along the coast!

We originally stayed in Gardeners Lodge in June 2013 having booked through a different channel hence the delay in submitting a review on this site. The cottage is in a wonderful location with everything for a relaxing holiday. Diana and Myke are excellent hosts and the delivery of freshly baked bread within an hour of our arrival was a love!y surprise. If we had the time to spend the whole summer here, we would block book the Lodge without hesitation but will have to be content with another holiday in June 2015.

Beautiful accommodation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the seaside lodge for valentines weekend and wished we had longer. A great welcome from Diana and Mike who live in the main house just 100 yards away, spotless comfortable accommodation with our own private deck overlooking the water (Robinson Crusoe Style), beautiful views from the property which nestles into the hillside. The weather wasn't perfect but this was a very sheltered little sun trap and we sat on the deck with our wine and watched the early evening sunset until it got a bit too chilly to be outside. Then went inside and loaded the wood burner with some logs that Mike left for us and snuggled in by the fire to finish our wine - sheer bliss!!

Kinsale is a great little town with lots to do - we love to walk and there was no shortage of interesting places to go - a local fellow offers historic walks which I hear are captivating but we didn't manage to fit that in - and apparently there is a ghost tour on offer too !! The restaurants and great pubs are in abundance so it was difficult to choose. We like the food in The White House and went there twice.

The road to our accommodation is along the seafront and a beautiful spot for an after dinner stroll back from the restaurant. I think we stayed at the very best location in Kinsale - close enough to reach the centre of town by a 10 minute stroll and far enough to get peace and a quiet for a good nights sleep with the added bonus of being right on the sea front. All in, a great place that I would recommend.
