Our overall impression was positive and we had a great time in the villa, but one has to be prepared for a few compromises when deciding to rent it. The house is charming and well-maintained in a large garden full of beautiful plants and flowers. It is safe and really well-equipped, we had no problems with the kitchen utensils, but the showers are shabby and we were not satisfied with the general cleanliness of the house upon arrival. The towels and the bed-linens should be exchanged too.
The manager Anna is very kind and really helpful and when there was a problem with the water system the technician came very soon to fix it.
If travelling with children please note that the house is located in a narrow street with a lot of traffic but no pathway. The lift to the ridge of lava is located in the neighbouring camping, one has to buy a daily ticket to use it that costs 4,5 EUR. The car is really a must.
An older Villa with it's older charms. The villa could use some updating and the kitchen utensils could be replaced but the views of the Mediterranean from the patio and the beauty of the property help make up for what it is lacking. The nearby town of Santa Maria la Scala is small but has several good restaurants; Trattoria Scalo Grande, being one. The villa is in a good location for visiting nearby Catania as well as Taormina, each a short drive. A car is a must.
Six of us spent 10 beautiful days at Villa Silvia. The property is as described in the listing, and the views really are amazing. Anna is lovely and very helpful.
You definitely need a car here to get the most out of your stay.
An absolute highlight of the stay was having Giusy come twice to cook for us. Authentic cuisine cooked right there in the villa for you. The best food we ate in Sicily!
Man könnte seinen Urlaub vollständig dort verbringen.
Charming fishing village, intact in its original marine architecture. Enchanting the walk to the 'chiazzette' (ancient walkway with steps), along this path of Spanish origin, is the 'fortress of Tocco', built at the end of Route 500 'Chiazzette-beach Mulino- Source Miuccio'

A path through the 'popular ancient heart of the city. From 'Scale of Aci' the fortress of Tocco through Chiazzette, charming street Spanish, along which you can admire the typical aspects of the vegetation of the Nature Reserve, until you get to the small fishing village Santa Maria La Scala.
Turning right you can reach the beach of the Mill, where you can see the veins of fresh water right under the rocks, 'waterfalls' from which springs the purest water, an excellent opportunity to cool off in the sandy beach of pebbles very busy.
