Whilst at Trehanoo you could holiday for the week and never get in your car. The house and annexe are a 7 minute walk to Polzeath beach and the same to the coast path. From the coast path you can either walk the pretty way to the surfing beach of Polzeath, or head towards Greenaway (a 10 minutes walk), Daymer (a 15 minute walk) or Rock (a 45 minute walk).
Polzeath has a great Spar shop and offers fish and chips, pasties, pizza and ice cream as well as some great surf and clothing shops and a gallery.
Greenaway is a wonderful place for rock pooling when the tide is out and the hours just drift past as you become totally absorbed in shrimping, crabbing and fishing.
Daymer Bay has a large car park that is very reasonable to park in all day and is sandcastle heaven and one of the best windsurfing spots in the country. At low water it has a vast beach.
Rock beach has several pubs/restaurants with wonderful views over the Camel estuary, great shops and also has sailing and a sailing/ powerboat school, water skiing and a waterski school, fishing trips and the ferry to Padstow.
There are also 2 golf courses within 2 miles of Trehanoo, St Enedoc and The Point at Polzeath (ex Roserrow).

Trehanoo House is our family holiday home and as such we keep it set up for ease of use for 8 people on holiday. We keep it up to date. We spend a month in the winter there ourselves, decorating, updating and adding to the comfort and ease of having a holiday in the house. I ask for feedback from tenants and, where possible, include them in next year’s update. Any problems are dealt with immediately by either myself or Jackie the housekeeper.
A hot shower when you arrive back from a surf is a joy; you can rinse your wetsuit off whilst still in it and peel it off whilst under the hot water and then hang it up on the purpose made wetsuit rack. Then quickly into the house for a proper shower in the wet room.
'Just to say thank you for the use of your house and annexe last week, we had a fabulous time and really enjoyed the house and garden (and views) to their full extent. We were short of nothing and it was beautifully cleaned when we arrived.
In fact we were so delighted we would love to re-book for next year if possible?' 'Third year running and I know we'll be back ... yet again it met all our wildest Cornish dreams.'
'We love this house, you've kitted it out so well'
'Trehanoo's been luxury, loved the sundeck, outside shower and comfy sofas'
'Very good house for an extended family holiday.'
'Had a great time riding around on the bikes'
Our second visit to Trehanoo; after last year's fantastically wet and cold week, the girls all voted to return this year, and at the end of this year's stay, warmer than last year but rainy and with Hale Bay devoid of teenage nightlife, the girls (who had managed to conjure a crowd of friends from thin air each night) agreed it was the best week ever and we all look forward to next year. I like the idea of being able to use the garden to dine in and to recline on those wonderful hammocks but it is a testament to the house that it creates such an amazingly good atmosphere in a wet July!
'Trehanoo' exceeded all expectations, giving us the space and comfort to have a fantastic family gathering to celebrate my wife's birthday. The kitchen area was brilliant especially at meal times with enough chair space for all. The beds and bedding were as advertised, clean warm and comfortable. A very efficient heating system was most impressive especially for us visiting at the end of season, however this heat did not quite extend to the downstairs shower and loos especially early in the morning - mind during the warmer summer months this would not be an issue. We experienced plenty of opportunities to entertain ourselves throughout the visit and most importantly when self catering, there was a well stocked mini market and butchers within the local area. Also plenty of restaurants to suit all, our favourite being 'The Point Restaurant and Bar at Polzeath' which catered very well for children. I would certainly recommend this property to family and friends.
We stayed for a week over a rather rainy Easter holiday, but had an absolutely brilliant time. House is clean, warm, and welcoming. Garden is great for kids as wraps around the house and is completely enclosed when gate is shut. Nice terrace for evening drinks in the sun (when it shines!)
We shared with another family and the arrangement of the house was perfect for two families with bedrooms both downstairs and upstairs, so we felt we had separate areas and weren't tripping over each other. Plenty of space, decent bathrooms, nice linen, soft towels, etc.
You can walk (downhill) very easily to the beach in about 5 mins, it's a steep uphill return, but good for working off the fish+chips, and ice-cream. We couldn't have been happier with the accommodation, and hope to return another time. Would highly recommend.
The property was very well presented. Good quality linen, plenty of towels etc. kitchen well equipped. The property was clean and the flowers and bottle of wine on our arrival was a lovely touch. We met with the owners which was good. Location very good. The layout was great for our party. Overall a very positive experience and would recommend and re-visit.
Trehanoo House is the perfect place to stay for a holiday. Situated close to Polzeath (5 minute walk) . Ideal for family holidays, (we have returned every year for the last three years). The house is always exceptionally clean on arrival and is very well maintained. Plenty of room to relax on the veranda or patio if the weather is kind, Big garden to allow children to play safely. The walks around the coast are beautiful, short walk to Daymer Bay and if you are feeling very adventurous carry on to Rock and have a well deserved cup of coffee and piece of delicious cake in the Blue Tomato Cafe.
The house was great the photo's don't do it justice.
The bedrooms were lovely clean white linen on all the beds
The communal areas really comfy and furnished to a good standard everything you could need was there. it was great to have the outside shower for the returning surfers no soggy sandy persons trailing through the house to the shower.
The deck at the side of the house was great for the early morning sun and the terrace at the side made the most of the afternoon sun pretty garden.
We were a group of 8 adults and there was plenty or room for all, looking forward to a return visit.
