About Rebecca Prine
Both Los Angeles natives, Rebecca & John pulled up stakes in Los Angeles to head for the quiet life. Buying the Property in 2017 and dedicated to restoring it to its original condition, they envisioned a space where friends and family could check out from the stressors of life. Rebecca, John, their hound dog Macaroni, and five cats Pink-Nose, Manny, Button, Pirate, and Nacho reside in the main cabin on the property. The cabin built in 1890 was originally a small one bedroom stone cabin constructed by a woman who bartered with Native American Groups for stones from Mt. Laguna to build her home. Over the years the main cabin, now their bedroom, has been added on to however the structure still maintains its original character.

Why Rebecca Prine chose Descanso
Descanso is an area that time forgot. The city and surrounding areas are known to many as the Cuyamaca Mountains. Most of the range consists of extensive oak forest and chaparral, part of the California chaparral and woodlands ecoregion, interspersed with pine forests and lush riparian zones, featuring year round creeks and waterfalls when rain is frequent. It is rich in Native American, Mexican, and American history. We love all things old. The area is great for gem mining, gold panning, metal detecting, hiking, and discovering things unknown. It is ideal for an afternoon nap, wandering barefoot, and letting yourself relax.

I loved the cabin. It was very cozy and peaceful. I will go back there again.
Quaint, Quiet, Convenient
This is a great little getaway for being right off the 8 freeway...it's near the Descanso restaurant, so easy to grab a bite to eat, and just a short, beautiful ride into Julian and up to Lake Cuyamaca. The property has a stream right behind the living room window that creates great ambiance. We had a chance to hike up into the hills and there's a vista from the boulders!
Brenda made fresh cookies and the place had everything we needed. We wished we could have stayed longer, but had to head to the desert before sunrise!
Definitely a unique and cute little place!
Hobo cabin stay
We had such a wonderful most comfortable time. If is our home away from home. We tell people we are going to our cabin in the mountains for the weekend They ask is if we own the cabin we tell them no but is so homey it is our home away from home. The owners are so awesome and so attentive for our well being and com fort. I highly recommend it for anyone. Just remember to bring firewood. Thank you Rebecca and Tim
We brought our kids and dog for a quick weekend trip, and it was awesome! Rebecca was super easy to work with. We could barely get the kids off the tire swing 😀
Our vacation place
We had such a good time. No phones just nice hot fires watched tv. Seen some deer went on hike. The owner was awesome. They had the place warming up when we got there Did some Xmas decorating. I would highly recommend this place for anyone owners are on premises but unless you need something they do not interfere. 😊 Thank you so much This is our go to place from here on out. Forgot to mention fences in yard our dog had a blast
Great spot, excellent host
This was a perfect getaway for us. Very much enjoyed to stay and Rebecca is an excellent hostess. My son had an amazing time. While dogs are welcome, there is much to do in the area and not all adventures are best for dogs given the wildlife and cactus in the area. We'll probably leave him home next time even though, except for a few cactus needles in the paws, he had a blast.
