Great Time in the San Luis Valley!
2nd year in a row for us and we will be back! Great place and great location!
House was just as described. We arrived late Saturday. Drove to Great Sand Dunes National park sunday....so cool! We sand boarded for couple hours. Went into Crestone for pizza. Nice vibe. Monday drove to Zapata Falls. Rough rode was an understatement but hike to falls was worth it. Thanks for lovely experience and weekend. Got to see my son and his family!
This property is amazing! At the foot of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, you are ringed in by these beautiful mountains. In late July when we were there it was a perfect temperature! It rained nearly every day, but just briefly! The house is great! Just a word of warning...and it’s not a bad one...there’s no a/c. But we never needed it! The breeze thru the windows kept the house cool! The town of Crestone is small but friendly! The local grocery store is surprisingly well stocked! My family and I fully expect to come here again! Thank you so much!!!
Cosy and tranquil
A lovely house, simple with everything we needed, plus many thoughtful little extras. Lovely landscape, tranquil and peaceful. We had a wonderful time!
Great for Stargazing
Property was clean, comfortable, and exactly what was listed. We came to Crestone to see the dark skies and weren't disappointed.
Bug spray in June is a good idea, along with clothes that have good defensive value, but residents told me it's not always buggy the rest of the year, and breezy days weren't bad at all. Cool nights.
Crestone is small, not a big tourist destination like some other Colorado towns, but has its own interesting history. It had two good small grocery stores (one organic), pizza, ice cream, and cafes. Several restaurants closed on Tuesday or Wednesday, but activity picked up in last half of the week.
A fun, small local history museum staffed by an enthusiastic volunteer was also a good way to spend an hour or two with kids.
A wonderful "little" house
We really enjoyed our stay in this home. The interior looks even nicer than the pictures show online and the wraparound porch left little to our imagination as we watched sunrises, moonrises, and sunsets - the views are stunning.
There's very little that we'd recommend changing, but a few things the hosts may wish to add for future guests include:
-instructions for using the radio/cd/ipod player in the kitchen
-larger food prep knives (there was just one paring knife and a small serrated knife) and perhaps a second cutting board
-medium and/or large serving bowls
-napkins and/or paper towels
Despite those minor issues, the place was great. The wood stove kept us toasty in the evenings and the electric heat in the bedrooms kept that heat going throughout the nights. The bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable and clean.
