It was a great home.
We enjoyed our stay. We did get there and the walk way was a little tight by all the bushes and plants. Not to bad. However Peter the owner did say the grass did to be cut, but it wasn't that bad. We did offer to cut it, & he said it was ok if we wanted too. But we didn't get a chance to. The pool was clean and the house was too. The only problem was when I stepped out of the master shower the floor was slick, but that wasn't their fault. I learned to dry my feet before stepping out. I would say I would stay there again and hope to again some day. Peter the owner was a real sweet person. He checked on us by phone made sure everything was going good. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH.
Great outdoor space
We totally enjoyed the outdoor space, the pool, the hot tub & especially the waterfall sound from the fountain. The master suite & en-suite was great- neighbor very safe. Loved the closeness to bike trails.

Exactly what we were looking for!
We knew, from reviews and speaking with the owner, that this was someone's primary residence, and it worked out great for us. The location, number of bedrooms, features and price made it a perfect deal for us. Close to all of our favorite beaches and restaurants. We would definetely stay here again!
Beautiful Pool Home So. Venice
We recently rented this property for a period of 2 weeks. The weather was great and we really enjoyed Venice and the surrounding area. This location is extremely close to shopping, beach areas (regular and pet) and a wide variety of eating establishments. Upon arrival we met the owners, who were friendly and helpful, even to the point of providing us with complimentary coffee during our stay. They showed us through their home which continues to be their prime residence while they are restoring their other property in Key West Fla. The home has a comfortable layout with most areas opening unto the outside pool (unheated) and an associated hot tub, which makes it nice and bright. The residence is located in a quiet, pleasant neighborhood. The rear yard is well kept and compliments the property.
The house layout gets 5 stars however overall rating is 3.
According to the owners, the property will continue to be their prime residence,( which is quite obvious) for at least the immediate future. As such, if they want to continue to attract renters, we echo a number of suggestions as submitted by previous renters:
-Provide a 12 cup coffee maker in kitchen.
-Replace the silver-plate with kitchen cutlery that can be placed in the dishwasher.
-Repair burner unit on outside grill.
-Provide space in advance, in dressers, closets of at least the master bedroom for renters’ clothing
-Provide space in advance, in refrigerator/freezer and pantry for renter’s goods.
-Address slow draining tub in 2nd. Bathroom.
-Repair “no signal” condition on TV in master bedroom.
-Replace stained pillows & worn carpet in second and third bedrooms.
-Consider replacing mattress on queen bed in second bedroom.
As previously mentioned, the owners were very friendly and appeared to want to address any suggestions we might have. The above notations reflect our feedback which hopefully will compliment future stays at this location.

We are renting the Venice house to pay fo hurricane repairs to our second home in Key West. We had to move many items from Key West to Venice to preserve them. As more and more of the Key West house opens up, more and more clothes and personal items will be moved back there. Our primary home is Key West though.
We learn something from every guest and try to make all guests feel comfortable and safe.
To address these latest concerns we have:
Provided a larger coffee maker, even though we already have a french press, smaller drip, percolator, and cappuccino maker.
Tub for spare bedrooms drains quicker now.
Will add more non silver plate utensils.
Burner unit repaired although it was unable as is
Both MBR walk in closets and dressers have had more clothes removed leaving plenty of room for guests.
TV in MBR is hooked up to a DVR and not to cable
We could not find any stained pillows, All bedding is relatively new and replaced as required. Carpets are steam cleaned prior to guest arrival.
While we appreciate the comments of these two guests, we wonder why they used every bed and bath in the house. We suspect that they had overnight visitors for many nights. We hope that they are more honest with future owners.
Venice is a wonderful place to stay. Close to outstanding beaches and restaurants
Just as other reviews have said, this property needs some TLC. Owners are friendly and helpful and the price was right. Location was outstanding. I know this is where the owners live but they need to address some things to call this a “upscale pool home”. Owners have used the excuse that this is their primary living residence but it is their decision to rent and need to address some things for guests. The following is a list of things suggested be done and many are listed in other reviews.
1. Power wash the lanai. Lanai is covered in mildew as well as pool deck is dirty
2. There are three bedrooms but no drawer space available. Also very little closet space
3. Owners items left in frig. There was only 2 of us would not have been room in frig if there were more people
4. Only one Useable TV and with only basic cable. No sports channels
5. No curtains or shades on sliding doors in Master BR. Outside can look right in
6. Asked not to wash utensils in DW because not DW safe
7. Get rid of used soap bars in bathrooms
8. Little closet space available
9. Small coffee maker makes three cups at most
10. Have a outside grill available
11. Landscaping needs much to be desired. Overgrown in front of house making it unsafe especially when returning at night. Nice large lot but not very useable. We had a small dog and her feet woul get covered with spurs from yard
These items would not be very hard or financially expensive to get done.
With this all being said the houses bones are beautiful. Nice large rooms with high ceilings. House was clean just too much of owners belongings making it seem cluttered. Area seemed to be safe and people in neighborhood friendly.
We appreciate reviews like this to keep us on our toes. Unfortunately, we normally have less than 2 days to prepare for the next guests. We normally do pressure wash the lanai but it was not done this time due to time constraints. Cleaning services here charge several hundred dollars so we try to reduce costs for guests by doing it ourselves. The lanai was swept and clean though.
We leave some items in the fridge for guests to use like organic half and half, bottled water, juice etc. We will remove them for future guests since that seems to be a problem.
We have a large smart TV with basic cable, Netflix, and Amazon Prime as well as a fire stick. We watch sports on YOU tube but it is also possible to use the fire stick for events.
The MBR sliding glass doors open onto the lanai and pool area which is very private. It is surrounded by dense vegetation and the privacy of five empty lots. We have always felt very secure and private here without curtains to block our view of the pool.
We have real silverware for guests which is not dishwasher safe and marked as such for guests.
Sorry about the used soaps, but you arrived when we were still doing last minute cleaning and that must have been missed. We will double check all the soap dishes in the future..
We have two large walk-in closets by the MBR as well as another large empty closet in one guest room. We will empty drawers and provide even more closet space for future guests.
We provide a french press, small drip coffee maker(with filters) and a percolator for guests. We have a closet full of appliances but no large drip coffee maker, sorry.
There is a grill outside the pool cage for guest use. We thought that this was part of your check-in. Sorry.
We are in a constant battle with the landscaping. Our flowering bushes on each side of the driveway and front walkway grow very quickly. We mow the lawn prior to guest arrival and landscape as much as possible. On the plus side we have many banana trees with free organic bananas for guests as well as organic papaya. We provide Trek bikes for guests and many amenities not normally found in rentals. We realize that we cannot please everyone but we do try hard!

Friendly and responsive hosts. Lovely home. Very private yard. Convenient location for beaches and shopping. Reasonably priced. Personal space could be a little more guest friendly. Enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for your review. We are not sure though how to make our home more guest friendly., but we will try harder. We personally checked these guests in for over 1 hour, and all comments were positive. We are willing o make small changes for guests if we are made aware..
