Property was as described on the website. Nice ocean views from decks.Ocean was 2 minute walk away.Pool was small but nice option to have. Interior furniture and fixtures a bit dated but clean and comfortable.Only compliant was garbage wasn't emptied from last rental and didn't leave room for us.
We had a wonderful time. A lot of fun and a very friendly place

Paradise in Grime
The renting agency did the best they could given the condition of the property. The filth and uncleanliness speaks to many years of neglect by the property owner. As soon as we stepped foot into the property the odor of mildew was the first impression. The carpets were not clean or vacuumed and the surfaces of the remaining floors were dirty. As far as functionality, there were not nearly enough towel racks in the bathrooms, there are plenty of dishes, cups/glasses and silverware. The furniture is all dated as well. Unfortunately, the sleeper sofas were less than accommodating and the first night required us to “make due” even though one sleeper sofa was broken and the other one had a mattress that was very badly stained. This again was not the fault of the agency as it is clearly neglect on the part of the homeowner.
So we made due the best we could and just had to wash our feet more often because they continued to turn black from the floors. Gross!
So advice to the homeowner. Commit to your guests or get out of renting. And as for the value of the rebate...that’s an insult to what we had to contend with as far as the dirt. (Nothing like a vacation you spend the first 1/2 day cleaning.)
My advise to potential renters...bring cleaning supplies!!

I read your comments and have taken corrective action: (1) A new replacement sleeper sofa was purchased the same day we heard about it being broken but it couldn’t be delivered until after your departure. (2) The replacement mattress for the second sleeper sofa was delivered while you were still in the unit. (3) We added 2 rollaway beds during your stay (4) We will install additional towel racks where needed.
“Filth and Uncleanliness” and “Dirty Surfaces”- The Management Cleaning Team thoroughly cleans and vacuums after each and every guest renter departs on Saturday morning. Drew, you are entitled to your opinion, however description of “Gross” seems like an over exaggeration when guests just prior to your stay said the following: “Great location. Very accurate photos and cool layout. Everything was great. We plan to go back! The location was good and decently clean”.
Just so you are aware, in September 2018 Category 4, Hurricane Florence with its 130 MPH winds caused substantial damage to the Surf City/Topsail Island area. The unit you stayed in had 75% of its interior walls and ceiling stripped of drywall, plywood and insulation after a moisture scan determined there was moisture behind the walls and ceiling as a result of the wind driven rain and roof damage. The restoration/repair process lasted from October 2018 until May 2019 (a week before the first summer rental). The exposed walls and ceiling were treated with an anti-microbial paint/sealant before restoring the new insulation, plywood and drywall. The process of sanding and preparing the area for painting caused construction dust to fill the air and settle on uncovered areas and floors. Construction crews hired a group to come in and clean the unit. Construction dust has a way of lingering. It takes numerous cleaning sessions to get it all. The Island Real Estate Cleaning Team spent two days doing a thorough cleaning before the first summer rental. In addition, the unit is cleaned after each guest departs. Recovering from a major hurricane is a gradual process in getting things back to normal. We are doing our best.
Drew, we will move forward with your comments and do everything to make the unit cleaner. Although you may not be interested in renting my unit again, don’t let that keep you from vacationing in the Surf City/Topsail Island area. You will be welcome!

Only a couple things could use updating - the baking sheets and pans in the kitchen are worn and rusted. The TVs say smart tv but I couldn’t figure out if Netflix was an option. It would be nice to have Netflix available. Lastly the pool lounge chairs need replaced by the HOA. I’m guessing the hurricane did them in. They are there broken up.
