About Laura Watrous
I'm Laura Watrous. My husband and partner, Brett Watrous, are the owners of the two luxury vacation cabins that make up Riverwalk Vacation Rentals. We love our life in the mountains and find great joy sharing our special piece of the world with guests. Our cabins were originally designed with the kind of comfort and luxury we strive for when we vacation.
Laura Watrous purchased this Cabin in 2005
Why Laura Watrous chose Burnsville
The saying goes: 'I wasn't born in Burnsville but I got here as quickly as I could' The climate is perfect with four different seasons: Beautiful cool Summers, colorful Falls, relatively mild Winters, and fresh colorful Springs. Morning Glory is in a perfect location to make the most of why a Blue Ridge Mountain vacation is great any time of the year.
What makes this Cabin unique
Morning Glory cabin is private yet convenient to features not available anywhere else. This cabin sits just above the Cane River with a wide open view of the river. The sound of the river actually echos in the porch rafters. Guests of Riverwalk also have access to two privately owned riverside parks which cater to our guests. One with pool & playground, the other with picnic pavilion, river tubes, large fire pit and youth zip line. There are 200+ acres of hiking and exploring right on the Riverwalk property. Neighboring farm with people friendly horses, donkeys and a goat. Farm owner offers horse 'time' for a small fee. Riverwalk is close to Blue Ridge Parkway, Mount Mitchell and The Pisgah National Forest (pedestrian, bike, equestrian trails).

Great mountain stay
Very nice cozy cabin on private property, wonderful owner that was very flexible with us! Definitely recommend.
Lovely cabin for an Asheville area vist
My trip was for work and relaxation and this cabin was the perfect location for all of my needs. It is secluded and private but not remote. The cabin was exceptionally clean, there were plenty of towels and the beds were extremely comfortable and cozy. Plus there was plenty of firewood for the wood-burning fireplace (even though we didn’t use it). The porch overlooking the Cane River was a wonderful place to relax at the end of a long day. The hot tub was the icing on the cake! There was enough room for me, my parents and my fur baby Gizmo. The cabin has everything you need and then some. The area is also perfect for a visit to Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the many small towns surrounding the area. Burnsville has a really cute downtown and I would love to explore it further. It was the perfect place for a long weekend and I would definitely consider staying here again in the future!
Thanks for the very nice (and descriptive) review. You covered it all! Looking forward to hearing from you again when you plan you next visit to the mountains. Laura
Good family experience. Love Burnsville
Girlfriend wanted to visit Asheville, I was more interested in mountains. It was a good compromise, I got to see the mountains, drove 40 mins to Asheville so she could do her thing.
Morning Glory 😀
Beautiful cabin, great escape!!
Peaceful River Sounds in a Secluded, yet Convenient, Mtn. Getaway
My family of 4 just visited is summer and had a beautiful visit in the mountains of North Carolina. So many conveniences in the home including 2 full bathrooms, an ice maker, washer & dryer, and all the information you ever would need for hiking in the area. They also have an area close by where they provide tubes for rafting and a nice picnic area which is right on the river. Laura was great to work with. Beautiful, secluded location. Yet, not far from shopping.
Located in Yancey County, NC, home to Mt Mitchell, highest mountain east of the Mississippi.
Other Activities: Trout fishing, large local craft population, motorcycle touring, blue ridge parkway, Grandfather Mountain
