The apartment was very clean and comfortable with everything you would need. It had a small but perfectly good balcony which seated two people for evening drinks. For us, the location of the apartment was perfect. The area was quiet and there were restaurants and mini-supermarkets within easy walking distance. There was no problem with car parking and it was a great base to visit Lisbon, Sintra and nearby beaches. Tania, the host, was really helpful and was waiting to meet us as we arrived. We had no problems during our stay which we enjoyed very much. Mike and Trudi
Very cozy apartment in a central and very quiet location. It has everything you might need during your stay, from an iron to all the kitchen utensils etc. We were very happy to choose this apartment because the owner, Tanja, is such a warm and helpful person. Definitely recommended.
I stayed here for a month but immediately felt right at home in this pleasant 1-bedroom apartment. The location is excellent in an attractive residential neighborhood of the small seaside town of Monte Estoril, 30 minutes by train from Lisbon. You're just a 10-minute walk from the train, the lovely beaches and waterfront promenade with many cafes, the local bus station for historic Sintra and other towns, and the casino in Estoril. You can also walk 20 minutes along the sea to the charming, larger town of Cascais, which has a wonderful farmers market, a supermarket, and many other shops and restaurants. There are also good bakeries and well-stocked grocery stores close to the apartment, as well as cafes and shops. Even as a woman walking home by myself from the train after midnight, I always felt safe in this area.
The apartment is spotlessly clean and sunny -- it's not fancy but it has everything you could need including a double bed with a good mattress, WiFi, dishwasher, and washing machine (everyone hangs their laundry to dry). It's a good size for one or two adults (and perhaps a young child or baby), with a double sofa bed in the living-room which I didn't try. The bathroom is on the small side but is perfectly functional. What I particularly liked is that you can see trees when looking out the windows, and there's a small balcony with a slice of ocean view. The building is quiet and well-maintained, and there's an elevator if you need it but I walked up the two floors. Tania, the apartment owner, is friendly and helpful, fluent in English and Portuguese, and totally reliable -- she was responsive to emails, and available by phone in case I had any problems, which I never did. She even picked me up at the train station when I arrived with my luggage. I plan to go back and stay here again, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends.
My husband and I have been in this apartment twice, in August 2012 and in December last year and both times had excellent stay!
It is a lovely apartment in a nice neighborhood and well taken care of. The area is quiet and still everything we needed was just few minutes away. We particularly enjoyed walks along the seaside to Cascais and Estoril.
There is a lovely cafe nearby, a perfect place to take morning coffee under palm trees. We didn't bother to rent a car to go to Lisbon, as the train station is 10 min away and it takes only 25 min to get to the center of Lisbon.
Our host Tania was very friendly and helpful. Her tips were very valuable to avoid typical tourist traps and have a perfect Portuguese experience.
We stayed in Monte Estoril for 9 days. The appartment was nice and clean and the owner, Tania, very helpful. Happy to return someday ! Recommended.
We had a great time in this very nice and cosy appartment! We stayed for two weeks in sunny Monte Estoril with two adults and a child. The appartment was very clean and Tania, the owner, very helpful! Only a small walk to the beach and a great coffeebar just a few steps from the appartment!I would definitely recommand this place!
The nearest beach is 10 min walk from the apartment and other beaches on the Cascais/Estoril coast are within easy walking distance (15 to 25 min.) on a lovely promenade by the see. Just a few miles drive (or cycling) away along the coast is spectacular Guincho beach world famous for surfing and wind surfing. All the beaches are sandy.
Costa do Estoril is the ideal location for golfers. The nearest course Estoril Golf (27 holes)is just 2,5 km away. There are several courses about 10-15 minutes' drive: Quinta da Beloura, Quinta da Marinha, Penha Longa (site of the European Championship), Oitavos and Estoril Sol. There are two nine-hole courses recommended for beginners at Estoril Sol and Penha Longa.
Nearest airport is Lisbon International Airport - some 28 km from Estoril. If you are staying in Monte Estoril a car is not essential. However, if you wish to explore the area including historical Sintra and the beautiful Cabo da Roca you might find one useful. The train station, some 10 min walk away, takes you into Lisbon (30 min) in modern air conditioned trains – they run every 15 min, are inexpensive & always on time!
