Welcome to your home away from home in the Santa Ynez valley. This newly finished 1200 square foot, 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, split level guest house is the key to your relaxing and fun vacation in Santa Barbara wine country. You will wake to absolutely spectacular views up and down the Santa Ynez valley. Looking east you can see all the way to the mountains above Ojai and looking west you see the peaks above Buellton and Gaviota. Connecting the two is the entire expanse of the Santa Ynez mountain range to the south affording brilliant views from sunrise to sunset.
The location of this property is ideally situated smack dab in the middle of everything. We’re right in between Solvang and Santa Ynez, with just a couple minute drive to either. Ballard, Los Olivos, Los Alamos, and Buellton are all a short 10-15 minutes away. Santa Barbara, Lompoc, and Santa Maria are 30-40 minutes away. It’s hard to find a location so close to everything, most short term options are on the perimeter of the bullseye. Unlike most rentals in town, the guest house sits on a property with multiple acres so you have plenty of privacy and are far away from neighboring houses.
Amenities include two bedrooms, a high end, plush king size bed in the upstairs bedroom and a comfortable memory foam queen bed in the private downstairs bedroom which also has a separate entrance. For overflow sleeping there are three options; a queen size inflatable mattress with bedding, a small pull out couch with bedding, and even a large Tommy Bahama couch which can be slept on in a pinch. Plenty of sleeping options for up to 8 people, however depending on the dynamic that may be too many people in a 1200 square foot house. Our recommendation is that this house is perfect for two couples or a family. If you want to bring children, the guest house has two childrens tables, one inside and one outside. There are also some games and activities for down time between all the great outdoor fun to be had.
Your home away from home includes a full kitchen, full bathroom, full laundry room, dining room for 6, and a living room with a 55 inch smart TV including Netflix (no cable). There is a deck off the upstairs bedroom and a large deck off the living room with outdoor furniture if you prefer to take in the scenery while you dine or lounge. There is a small desk for getting some work done or fine tuning your itinerary. Ultra high speed wifi should provide all the internet access you might need for streaming, video conferencing, or even better... looking up all the great things to do around here! We have a book of recommendations at the guest house and we’re happy to consult with you prior to your trip.
Please note that we do live in the main house about 30 yards away from the guest house on the same property. There is a privacy hedge between the two houses. We want to emphasize to prospective guests that children are present and Uber/taxi drivers are readily available. The main house and guest house share a driveway and our kids play on it all the time so it is critical to drive slowly and carefully not just on our driveway but in our entire neighborhood which is very small, tight knit, and full of children, dogs, cats, ducks, geese, horses, donkeys, cows, goats, squirrels, rabbits, and chickens. On that note, if you like fresh eggs, there a small stand at the end of our road where you can buy fresh duck and geese eggs. Our neighborhood is quiet and our guest house is not a good option for parties, loud music, excessive drinking, or any other behaviour which might disrupt the serenity of the setting or neighborhood. Since we do live on the premise we respectfully ask our guests to adhere to this request and we’ll be able to assist right away if there is a problem.
We’re offering up our property, neighborhood, and community for you to enjoy please treat it with respect and you will be richly rewarded with a country living experience you will remember forever. We’re here to help and we would love to hear your thoughts about your upcoming trip. Let us know your questions and we’ll work to help you have an amazing experience and unforgettable getaway. We hope you choose to stay with us and we hope you come back again soon!

Shameless pandering for great reviews… we want five stars!!! We’re new at this and want 100% satisfaction for our guests, please help us help you, our guests, to have the best possible experience! Let us know if anything needs to change. We don’t want you to have any unpleasant surprises so in an abundance of caution we’re listing out a few items to be aware of. None of these should be an issue, however, just so you’re informed:
-The downstairs bedroom is private and tucked away down stairs, around a corner, down more stairs, and around another corner. However, there is no door on the downstairs bedroom, we don’t feel one is needed and we hope you agree. Please let us know if this was ever an inconvenience for you.
-No cable. The TV is internet connected and has potential for full suite of apps. Currently the only one included is Netflix. There is no cable TV. We want feedback if you feel you would rather pay a little bit more for access to Amazon streaming, Hulu, Sling TV, etc.
-Dishwasher could be replaced. After repeated cleanings with various cleaning compounds the dishwasher still appears discolored and dirty. How often would you have used the dishwasher if it was new? Would it have enhanced your trip to have a new dishwasher?
-No BBQ. We have not yet purchased a barbeque for the guest house.
-No access to loft. There is a small loft and we have restricted access to the loft for safety reasons.
-No ice maker, Ice trays only.
-You will see us out playing! Though you will have plenty of privacy at the guest house, when you’re driving in and out it is very likely you will see us, our kids, and our dog. Say hi! Maybe we’ll have some advice on cool local hikes, great places to eat, or other fun activities.
-You may hear us. In the summer when the kids are playing in the pool at the main house they can get pretty excited and you may hear the exuberance from the guest house. We believe the distance is enough so that this won’t be a problem for our guests. Please let us know if this was ever an unpleasant disruption to your stay.
-Office. The guest house has an attached room for my wife's online boutique. It has its own entrance and we don’t anticipate using it very often on the weekends (mostly during the week). That said, we wanted to make you aware of it. Please let us know if this causes any problems for you.
-Wildlife. There is a ton of wildlife right on and adjacent to our property. From the deck you will likely see and hear: Quail, Horses, Deer, Donkeys, Cows, Coyotes, Owls, Buzzards, Hawks, Squirrels, Jack rabbits, Dogs, and more! We do have outdoor cats that you might see out and about.
-Anything else? We want to do this right and if we have overlooked anything we would very much appreciate it if you would tell us so we can make it right for you!
