About Michael Kosofsky

We're a Brooklyn-based couple (designer and engineer) who love to travel, and we also summer on Cape Cod. We purchased our home a year ago, and we're constantly floored by the amazing neighborhood we live in. There's so much going on—new restaurants, shops, and bars are arriving nearly every day. We hope that you'll love NYC, and all it has to offer, as much as we do—and we want to do everything possible to make sure your stay is great!

Why Michael Kosofsky chose Brooklyn

We fell in love with our 19th century home as soon as we walked in! Its original details really impressed us, and the neighborhood is diverse, quiet, picturesque, and peaceful. After living in Williamsburg, with high rise buildings popping up on every corner, we needed a change of pace and found it here. Our home is close to all the coolest mom and pop shops, fun bars, and delicious restaurants and just a 5-minute walk to the subway.

What makes this house unique

Why stay in a hotel when you can experience the city from a New Yorker's perspective? This beautiful, historic apartment is a pretty, 5-minute walk to the A and the C subway lines. This gem has everything you need for your chic sojourn in NYC. Jetting to Manhattan's downtown area, with its world-class shopping and restaurants (Brookfield Place, World Trade Center, Wall St., Chinatown) is a quick 20-minute trip. From there, explore Midtown (MoMA, Rockefeller Center, Madison Ave shopping) or stay Downtown on the Lower East Side (NewMuseum, SoHo) or West Chelsea (galleries and more). But choosing to stay local might be the best part of your trip: Excellent restaurants like Saraghina (Italian), Peaches Hot House (fried chicken), Chez Oskar (French), and Milk & Pull (coffee & breakfast) are a mere stone's throw. Hit up Lover's Rock for delicious cocktails and reggae, the Bar Lunatico for live jazz, and enjoy a nightcap at Casablanca bar/nightclub.

Clean & Comfortable Brooklyn Apartment

  • 5 of 5

Michael has done an amazing job with this place. My wife and I stayed there for three days and were gone for the majority of the days, but home by 10/11pm at night. There is some neighborhood noise/music that goes on until late, but that is out of Michael’s control.

Overall, we loved our stay! Michael was waiting for us on our arrival (subway is a 5 minute walk), was super inviting and I would recommend this place in this city that never sleeps.

Father/Son getaway to NYC

  • 5 of 5

The property is as advertised and the photos/description accurately represent the property. My son and I had a very comfortable stay and enjoyed a pleasant short walk along Stuyvesant Ave to the Utica Ave substation each morning and evening. This route is well lit and we found it safe. A few of the buildings along Decatur Street are undergoing interior renovations but this was not a distraction. As with all residential areas, parking can be tricky but manageable. The property owner provided helpful tips about coffee shops, markets, subway routes, parking and proved very responsive to questions that arose during our stay. Typical morning street noise but not unexpected or a distraction and we found the neighborhood to be quiet in the evenings. The apartment décor is very tasteful, modern and would be a nice stay for anyone.

Appartement très agreable dans un quartier un peu éloigné

  • 4 of 5

L'appartement est très agréable. Il est dommage que le proprietaire soit aussi peu disponible et ne montre d'empressement qu'à percevoir son règlement. Décevant.

Owner's Response: I have no idea what my guest is talking about. I was always available as I live downstairs and checked in with him periodically to see how he was doing. Plus the comment about my eagerness to get paid? I don’t collect payment, VRBO does so take that issue up with them. For someone who broke one of windows and stained my towels he has a lot of gall. I gave them a nice review besides that because as a host I try to be accommodating but my advice as a host is to stay away from guests like this. As much as you try to be pleasant you end up getting burned.
