I must preface this review by saying that this is a lovely apartment in a prime location managed by people who are fair when it comes to dispute resolution. The latter is the only reason I am writing a review.
Initial contact during the reservation process was prompt, but non-existent afterward and up until 2 days prior to my trip from Australia. The "Ambassador" Carlos, finally replied after I Cc'd the management company on our emails and he finally made arrangements to meet us at the flat. While his demeanor was curt, at best, I chalked it up to our being late having gotten lost during rush hour traffic on a Friday afternoon.
The unit is a penthouse flat atop a boutique hotel and it bakes in the sun all day like a meringue. There is one small split a/c to cool the entire flat. A few skylights are scattered about, none of which open enough to allow air to flow through. The two bedrooms did have their own a/c unit. The temperature only became bearable after sundown.
The flat is decorated in a hodge-podge of styles and the kitchen well equipped. The beds were comfortable and all the linens were above average. Please use extreme caution when showering as the stall is very slippery and without a railing to hold when exiting.
Now, the bad part. When booking a property for this trip, I purposefully selected the "Pool" filter so as to only view properties with a pool. Although it has now been removed from the description, this listing at one time promoted a "heated pool." Unfortunately, four days into our stay and 48 hours after asking Carlos we were finally told that, in fact, there is no pool at the property. We were later told, "It was listed to indicate that there was a rooftop pool bar available nearby." Well, "nearby" was actually four miles away, 45 Euros per person and a 2 drink minimum. Long story short, we checked out and moved to a resort with a pool to enjoy for the remainder of our stay in Lisbon.
Now, to the rental management's benefit, they did compensate me a substantial amount (basically their commission on the 9-day rental) and apologized for the inconvenience and listing error. We did not receive any additional refund for the days we did not stay in the property by the owner.
I would recommend this property again, but just know what your getting. A slightly warm albeit nice flat in a decent location with a cranky "Ambassador" but a good management company.
