The Way Life Should Be

  • 5 of 5

As a lifetime Mainer, recently moved to SC, I was looking for a vacation that would give me everything that screamed MAINE. We're so glad we found this place.

It's hard to say anything bad when you had seven days of near perfect weather during your stay. The house was simple but fully equipped. The lot was much larger than I expected and allowed us to host our family and support 22+ people milling about. Paddling every morning with the rising sun and the laughing loons was my favorite part of the day.

The owners were prompt to our inquiries and pleasant to work with. We're already looking forward to our next stay on the lake.

Thank you for making this available!

Fantastic modern home with spectacular views over the lake.

  • 5 of 5

Super modern lakeside house built to benefit from the wonderful views across the lake. The house is extremely well equipped to enjoy the garden and lake and the kitchen has all the upto date equipment to cater for yourself. In an excellent location to walk into Dexter to get provisions and enjoy walks around the lake. Really enjoyed visiting Bar Harbor and Freeport.

Made to feel very welcome to enjoy their holiday camp by the owners.

Fun on the lake!

  • 4 of 5

Our family of four was very comfortable in this home for a week in July. The kayaks and canoe were great to explore the lake with. The kids had a blast jumping off the floating raft. The house was clean. I'm always a little concerned when there's living space in a basement, but this basement was dry and did not smelly musty at all. The road was a little busier than I expected. And you really have to travel over an hour to any Maine attractions. We spent a day at Moosehead Lake and another driving and hiking to Moxie falls. I suggest researching ahead of time any day trips you want to take. Overall, a good week! Thank you.

Beautiful Home, gorgeous views! Perfect for family

  • 5 of 5

Wow!!! This home is absolutely beautiful! The house is small and perfect for families (we are a 3 person family but brought along a playmate for our 10 year old son). The house has a view of the lake from the moment you walk in the door. The windows make it so beautiful all day. We thoroughly enjoyed the use of the fishing gear, kayaks and canoe, as well as the floating dock and there are swim toys for kids too although my boys had fun just trying to catch fish, or use the trap to catch crawfish. Early morning fishing trips at sunrise, loons on the lake and I'm pretty sure we spotted an eagle if only for a brief moment! The beach is a little rocky but swim shoes make it easier for the kids, we grabbed a pair at Reny's just 2 mins down the road. The home is on a busy street, but honestly it didn't bother me at all. If anything, I felt better about letting 2 not so quiet 10 year olds out on the water at 8:30 am. The yard is set up perfectly with privacy from the road and neighbors, as well as relaxing chairs to sit in, a picnic table to eat lunch and a great firepit that we toasted marshmallows on, cooked hot dogs on sticks, and one night added the grate and made burgers! The deck is perfect, we ate meals at the table there and I could sit up there reading while the boys were in the water. There is the perfect amount of shade and sun throughout the day in the yard. During our visit we even got an amazing lightening show one night over the lake. Stunning! There are tv's there to play videos but I didn't even let the kids know they worked! We were 90% screen free all week! I cannot say enough great things about this home. So easy to keep clean, owners are friendly and helpful and town is 2 mins down the road for everything you need. Campfire was hard to find but we headed back towards Newport, about 10 mins down the road there is a campground (Next to fireworks store) that sold us a TRUNK load of firewood for $25 (about 25+ pieces) Love Love Love this home and hope to come again. Awesome time! Beautiful home, beautiful lake...

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The home is beautiful and clean. There was plenty of space for my husband, myself, my in-laws and our two children. I cannot say enough about this rental. Waking up on the lake every morning and having a fire at night was simply amazing. My 12 year old daughter and husband loved kayaking and using the canoe. There is a restaurant within walking distance with awesome ice cream and fried clams. We traveled a few days into Bangor and Newport. If you love seafood you must try Anglers restaurant. If you love antiques The Roller Rink Antique Mall is awesome as well. This home is not near much as it is a small town BUT that is what we loved about it. There is enough in the small town that you don't need to travel far for the things you need. There is nothing I would change about our stay. The owners were easy to talk with and super nice, they even checked in with us to make sure that we were doing okay. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Great (on the outskirts of town) Camp

  • 4 of 5

The camp was really super. The owners took care of all our questions and needs. It has wonderful views of the smaller part of the lake. My daughter and 7 yr old grandson used the kayaks often and my grandson and I used the canoe to go fishing(you can get a fishing license at Toots Deli/Subway in town). The swim area is a little rocky but a pair of swim shoes made it fine. Lots of ducks and loons around and we had a large blue heron on our dock one morning. The area in front of the camp is large, with lots of seating and a fire pit if you want. The BBQ grill came in very handy and the front deck was wonderful.

The public beach is very close and we went over one day so my grandson could play at the playground, make some new friends swimming, and to get an ice cream at the beach take out/restaurant.

We had a wonderful time. We would rent here again. My lovely wife said "it is a camp, but we felt very much at home all week".
