We just can agree to the previous mentioned review.

The villa and and the sorrounding garden are more beautiful than reported on the photos. Everything was fully included as mentioned on the web site, the villa is in a good shape and all the facilities were very clean.

We wandered with the sun around the house over the course of the day and enjoyed the stunning views from the different garden locations. Delicious regional food and drinks were provided by the owner.

Exceptional villa nestled in a beautiful landscape

  • 5 of 5

Very welcoming host who spoke great English and was smiley and enthusiastic and really keen for us to have a great time at the villa (which we most certainly did!)

The villa had fantastic views of the valley and was a very short walk from the ancient site of Eletherna (but when we visited not all areas were open to the public - be aware before you set off on a hike to the covered ruins).

The accommodation was faultless. Lovely airy rooms - 3 bedrooms one with a double bed downstairs, another with two twins, one more with two twins with a mezzanine double. Very well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc.

Outside there was always somewhere to sit in the shade or the sun with plenty of garden furniture available. The pool was perfect for 2 adults and 3 teenagers - a metre deep in the shallow end and fenced off from the house.

Plenty of space for parking with the property secured with gates if need be - but security we understand is really not an issue in the village.

A nearby village (10 minutes in a car) had a decent sized supermarket which had everything you would need. Also nearby (a short dirve) were many tavernas serving authentic Greek food,

The Arkadi monastery, only several km away, is a must visit,

We had a brilliant time and felt in an idyllic world of our own. Brilliant find, Thank you.

Great place to relax

  • 5 of 5

We really loved our stay in villa Stavros.

Everything was as good or even better than the pictures on the internet promised.

This is the perfect place to be if you like the silence of a small village on Crete.

The beach is only half an our away and the excavations off Ancient Eleftherna are next door and worth exploring.

The villa itself had all the comfort we needed, was very clean and we got clean sheets and towells every 3 days as promised.

A special thanks to the owner Mr. Manolis for bringing us all those nice local products. This was very much appreciated by all of us.

Crete itself is a beautifull island with a lot of different things to see and do.

Among other things, we visited Knossos and the Imbros gorge and spent some nice time in Rethimno.

And last but not least we loved the Greek kitchen.

Outstanding hospitality and wonderful house

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week in the villa Stavros. Crete is truly our heart stroke 2015. We often rent houses in Europe and we especially enjoyed our stay in this house. First, we must mention the great hospitality of the family of Mr. Manolis. We have been welcomed with a smile despite our late arrival and our family of six had a great breakfast the next morning as the fridge was provided. Mr. Manolis brought us regularly wine, eggs and olive oil. When our car was left out, we have been helped again with a smile. To the whole family, thank you for your kindness throughout this week.

The house, that has been constructed with care, perfectly fits the description of the website and is very clean and comfortable. Large garden and pool are beautiful and very well maintained. We really enjoyed the privacy of the villa and mountain landscapes that change according to time of day.

The villa is located in a village set back from the coast and bustle, which suited us perfectly. We enjoyed the surroundings including the village of Margarites, the Monastery of Arkadi, Panormo Beach and Rethymno. Everywhere, the Cretans were hospitable and kind.

Finally, Kostas, the property manager, was very caring before, during and after the renting.

We came back to Canada with the idea to return in Crete as soon as possible!

Spectacular view from a beautiful property.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a glorious week in Eleftherna. The house is large and had absolutely everything we needed. The scorching summer heat was eased by the mountain location and the pool. The archeological excavations next to the house are uncovering some fascinating treasures. Roadworks giving access to the site made it impossible to park at the house and were noisy at times, but we managed the short walk. Lots to see and do nearby on those winding roads. The owner was charming, generous and friendly.

Beautiful Villa

  • 5 of 5

The villa is just as the photos show, probably better. The views are amazing - we loved to sit with a drink and a book underneath the tree and watch the panorama. The owner and his family went out of their way to look after us, from taking us to the next village for dinner, to dropping by with his home made wine and olive oil. The pool was a godsend, and the temperature much nicer than the hotel we stayed at the previous week!

The only negative I would say is that the villas really is in the middle of nowhere and a car is advisable. The tavernas in the village only sold limited drinks and we had to take a taxi to the next village to eat. Having said that, the food was good and much cheaper than on the coast so it wasn't really a problem. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for somewhere quiet, peaceful and with stunning scenery.

Du rève à la réalité.........

  • 5 of 5

The splendid combination of the green landscape view and the blue colour of the sky will free your soul and mind.

The villa is situated at the top of Ancient Eleftherna hill, in a region with over 4,500 years of historical interest. It is where the first astrophysical and first homeopathetic doctor Diogenis Apolloniatis was born. Additionally the archaeological site and the newly built museum of Ancient Eleftherna are worth a visit for discovering and feeling the ancient history of the area.

Ancient Eleftherna is located south-east of Rethymno. It occupies a wide area that mainly includes two ridges, called Pyrgi and Nissi. Three streams flow around the foot of the hills and join to the north of them.

Eleftherna is since 30 years among the designated areas of 'outstanding natural beauty'.

You can find a traditional tavern in Ancient Eleftherna village in 100 m away from the villa and shops and tavernas can be found in Eleftherna and nearby Magarites, while Rethymno, with its sandy beach and waterfront restaurants, is a half hour drive away.

The closest beach to the villa is 15 minutes away by car in the area of Sfakaki. An other great beach 20 minutes away that you have to visit is the beach of Panormo.

The village of Ancient Eleftherna or 'Archaia Eleftherna' (in Greek) is a quiet village where you will get the chance to interact with the very hospitable locals.

PLEASE be advised that the villa may appear on a different 'location category' on HomeAway affiliate websites, depending on their categorised locations (each affiliate website has its own 'location categories').
