About this property

Wonderful cabin bordering Glacier National Park and Great Bear Wilderness

We have a wonderful base-camp for your Glacier Park and Montana wilderness adventures!

**Our cabin is within close proximity of the eastern entrance to Glacier Park (the Saint Mary entrance) where there is NO VEHICLE RESERVATION REQUIRED FOR ENTRANCE on the Going to the Sun Road.**

For more information on Glacier and the vehicle reservation system visit: https://www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/vehicle-reservations.htm

Our cabin is located in Essex, MT; a small community sandwiched between Glacier National Park and the Great Bear Wilderness. Essex is a quaint rail-road town with a hand-full of year-round residents. We are nestled between the tracks and the creek and guests can expect to hear passing trains as well as the muddled sounds of Essex creek.

We are minutes away from the Walton Ranger Station (a quieter entrance entrance into the park), 30.9 miles from West Glacier, 29.7 miles from East Glacier, MT and right across the railroad tracks from hiking trails into the Great Bear Wilderness. The cabin has two covered porches and a lovely patio area that includes a fire pit.

The cabin is small but cozy. It has an open-floor plan that includes a king-sized bed in a loft, a full bathroom, a small but complete kitchen, and a sofa. There is no television but guests are welcome to use the WIFI to stream and entertainment they desire.

We are both people who live and love in the outdoors. Our goal is to create a space that brings the outside in and inspires folks to get out on their next adventure. Fishing, hiking, rafting, backpacking, horse riding and nature-walking are all easy and convenient from our location!

Cute, cozy, perfect
MUCH nicer than the photos show. Super cute and comfy and cozy. No, there’s not a tv but are you here to watch tv? No, there’s not a microwave but be honest, how important is that? Yes, the steps are a little steep but just slooooooow down :) The kitchen is ridiculously well stocked. The bed is very firm but very comfortable. Everything is clean. Love the tea lights everywhere. You’re close enough to GNP and the towns have grocery and food options. And yes, there’s a railroad track with trains. But it’s not window rattling loud and by the second night you’re sleeping through it. Sage was very kind - could be quicker to reply but she does reply!! The dogs loved the back yard fenced in and could run and play. So important when traveling!

Inspirational
The cleanliness, comfort and thoughtful touches made this cabin a true home away from home. Limitless things to do and/or just relax but the fire or read a book or sit on decks and take in scenery. We enjoyed the peaceful sounds of the interesting trains that passed by. Hosts were incredible. They had great information and quickly answered any questions we had. Thank you for the wonderful vacation spot!

Glacier Getaway
My daughter & I wanted a quick getaway to Glacier National Park before she started her last semester at Montana State University. We had a wonderful time, the cabin was just perfect for the two of us. We loved the neighborhood and the trains!!

What a beautiful cabin. So cute and cozy. Enjoyed sitting by the fire, on the upper and lower deck and going for a walk around the neighborhood. It was a great place to stay. The place has everything set up so nicely you feel right at home and welcome. We totally recommend.

We loved this place.
Our family visited glacier national park and loved coming back to the cabin. There is so much to explore in glacier and this cabin is not that far away. It is quiet and away from everything, although there are trains that go by once in a while. This is a very nice cabin and would definitely stay again.

About the host

Michael and I are both avid outdoor enthusiasts. We moved to Essex to be close to the mountains and away from the crowds. Both of us were raised in NW Montana and we haven’t ventured elsewhere for obvious reasons! We are excited to share our slice of paradise with you!

Why they chose this property

Quiet. Out of town. No cell service. Our backyard is millions of acres of Wilderness and our front yard is majestic Glacier National Park. From our doorstep we can hike, hunt, pick huckleberries, ski, and explore some of the best wild country Montana has to offer. Great fishing and scenic floating is just minutes away on the Middle Fork of the Flathead river.
Its a quick jaunt over to the Rocky Mountain Front and not too far from town for supplies, friends for laughs, and family for support.

What makes this property unique

During your stay, you’ll probably end up spending more time outside than in the cabin! Our spacious rock patio, complete with fire pit, porch swing, and comfortable seating, is the perfect spot for star gazing, making smores, or enjoying the company of friends and family. We also provide you with firewood!
