About the property

Iconic 4-bedroom villa on the edge of the sea of Valletta shore. Few minutes off restaurants and Sliem ferry. Also it is at the foot of our capital city Valletta ideal for a relaxing holiday and also for all those who are after our great history.

This enchanting villa oozes character from every stone. Surprising it dates back to the knights of St John where it formed part of the bastions, later on it served as a laboratory Barrack during World War 2 for the English Navy. Although large, it stands inconspicuously tucked away on the foreshore of Valletta Bastions.

Over the past months, it underwent a transformation into a comfortable, stylish and yet modern, holiday home without compromising its authenticity. Indeed, it is a house full of interesting features that whisper of the past wherever you look. One can only wonder at the many lives and events that must have unfolded here over the centuries, however, attention was kept in preserving the historic aspect.

The marbled front doorway enters into an open sky-lit hall with arched openings leading to 3 entrances on each side and the front. The stairs makes the house so dramatic being partially preserved to its original state since most of it had to be replaced due to sea deterioration. Moreover, most of the walls have been left in their original form and texture, the typical Maltese limestone.

Immediately to the right, the arched doorway opens onto the kitchen/dining room. This lovely room is traversed by the typical wooden beams. The large bay windows open and light up the room. They offer a unique view of the stunning harbour and Sliema shore. The kitchen is fully equipped for easy cooking and for any kind of meal.

The dining area leads to the living area where the neutral coloured sofas and armchairs complement the honey coloured stone as does the modern parquet flooring which is a recent addition.

Furthermore the entertainment area leads to 3 bedrooms, two on the same level and the 3rd one on the 1st floor accessible by a wooden staircase. On the ground floor there are 2-bedrooms one with a double bed with en-suite with a bath tub and the other with 3 single beds. Also on the same floor there is another bathroom with shower closure as well.

On the 1st floor then there is another double bed with another single bed so it can sleep 3 people comfortably in beds. Also this bedroom comes with another en-suite with a shower cubicle. The low stone arches are visible in this bedroom and once again indicate its great age.

Moreover on the other side of the main entrance there is another bedroom with a double bed and even more another en-suite with a shower cubicle.

On the other side of the entrance there is the iconic part of this one of a kind villa...the outdoor area. The area consists of a stunning pool measuring 6m by 4m surrounded by decking also on its side there is a Jacuzzi measuring of 2m by 2m. Moreover, there is an outdoor table with chairs for 8 people and a gas bbq for fresco nights to enjoy and relax the great views and sea breeze.

Please note that the rental price does not include the Environmental Contribution tax, introduced on June 2016 amounting to €0.50c per night up to a maximum of €5 for each continuous stay in the Maltese Islands. This applies for 18-year-old and older.

Gorgeous apartment with amazing views

Our family of six stayed in this apartment for the last week in November. A great time to visit Malta, as the weather was quite pleasant (sunny and in the mid 60's everyday) and the crowds were much lighter than the summer months. The communication regarding the apartment was very responsive and they gave us so much helpful information. They arranged pick up from the airport and Steve met us at the apartment. He was great and was able to give us a lot of information about the area, places to eat, etc. He also had a beautiful basket of food as well as bottled water, milk, juice and other food items waiting for us when we arrived. The apartment was clean, spacious and very nicely decorated. The kitchen had everything you would ever need to cook, and most importantly, there was coffee and a coffee maker! The views from the kitchen were absolutely amazing and the location was the best. We could walk to everything and there were plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance. The two closest to the apartment were among our favorites, Scoglitti's and Cockney's. I would very highly recommend this apartment. We loved everything about it!!

Overall it was nice. I feel a number of things need updating & should be of better quality. Eg towels bedding

It was cold without heating & had a damp smell. The stairs are very slippery when wet & one of my family had accident. The pool should stipulate it is not heated & the hot tub even though fixed did not work well. The box where all the power is coming from is hanging off & looks very dangerous. Torches should be provided also as we had a power cut & could not see anything at all

The view & it’s position is clearly it’s unique selling point other wise it does not offer value for money

Nice Location and View - Be Aware of Dust Issue

Lovely location with great views close to Sliema Ferry. House is a dust hazard especially for people with allergies. In addition, little service info provided or texts not answered by property manager from Shortletsmalta. No clarity where to put trash etc and realized fines levied by city for wrong placement. Value for price is not comparable to other facilities on island. My first disappointing experience on HomeAway.

Kindly note that we advised about the trash (and other relavant things to note) prior arrival in one of the emails we send before check in. Moreover, the same information is found in a book file in the same property. With regards to the property it is a unique one for Valletta, there is no other seafront house with pool in the Capital. The house in itself is iconic and true living History of our Capital thus has its own age. The house is always treated with extra care when it comes to its original features. We apologies if these may have let you down. The stone is always treated every couple of months, most probably due to the high temperature and dry Summer the walls needed treatment prior the scheduled time. However, this was immediately done and catered for. We apologize if it did not meet your expectations and took care in improving.

Valletta is the capital of Malta, colloquially known as Il-Belt (English: The City) in Maltese. It is located in the central-eastern portion of the island of Malta. Valletta is the second southernmost capital of the EU member states after Nicosia.

Valletta contains buildings from the 16th century onwards, built during the rule of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, also known as Knights Hospitaller. The city is essentially Baroque in character, with elements of Mannerist, Neo-Classical and Modern architecture in selected areas, though World War II left major scars on the city. The City of Valletta was officially recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980.

The city was named after Jean Parisot de Valette, who succeeded in defending the island from an Ottoman invasion in 1565. Refundable Damage Deposit £446.43
Stay tax £0.45 per night, per person. This amount will be due to the manager upon arrival. Does not apply to children under 18 years.

Minimum booking is four nights, prices will be quoted pro-rata according to the season. Deposit of 40% is required on confirmation. Preferred deposit payment methods are by bank transfer or by Pay-Pal. While the remaining balance is to be settled ideally 4 weeks prior arrival.
Alternatively, the reservation can be made via homeaway family site/s. Please do note that once this option is selected there will be a 3% booking fee added to the quote due to site processing fees.
A refundable breakage deposit of 500euro is to be paid on check in either to be settled by visa or cash. The security deposit will be refunded via credit card if paid as such after a maximum of 30 days. Or via bank transfer - if paid in cash - with bank charges incurred to the beneficiary bank account [should s/he not be in SEPA country] after a maximum of 15 days. Thus the beneficiary bank details will be required to refund the deposit.
Due to cleaning necessities the check-in time for the apartments is generally 2.00pm and the check-out is at 10.00am however if there are no arrivals on the same day the apartment can be kept for longer.
Also please note that the price being paid for the property includes basic utilities
- 300KWh- for villas
free per week with the apartment which is more than sufficient for a weekly stay. However if the inclusive amount of KWh will be exceed, an extra charged will apply at a rate of 0. 35c per KWh. Other than that there are no other hidden expenses or charges.
Cleaning of the property prior the arrival and after departure is included in the price. Any extra cleaning during accommodation will incur extra charges. Two sets of towels per person and one set of linen per bed is also provided by us, then it is up to one's discrepancy to wash them as much as desired.
Long lets also available rates upon request from owner.
Apartment also available for long term booking of 6 months period maximum with a monthly rate, in such case utilities will not be included in the rate
