About this property

Family friendly spacious apartment very central: art history shopping dining out

Either you got a couple of days, a week or more with your family or friends this is an excellent choice, because its central location, the romantic atmosphere of an ancient building (1640), the high standards of provided services and the owner's 24/7 availability just in case.
There are few places in Rome that offer the zest, charm and charisma of Sant'Eustachio neighborhood. Via Monterone is a quite narrow street which is located in the lively epicentre of the capital, with packed-out cafes and restaurants never too far away, noteworthy for their diversity as well as their quality. Of course much of the typical atmosphere is down to the remarkably strong presence of boutiques, local shops together with well know International brands, making it a truly distinctive part of Rome, quite in the middle of the ancient Rome, at a walking distance from Pantheon, Coliseum, Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps, Campo dei Fiori, Vatican Museum and many more sites.
Palazzo Nari is a 17th century historical and prestigious building, your easy way to get acquainted with Rome, living as an Italian. This is a fully renovated, 172 square meters (1,850 ft²), self catered, spacious and luxurious apartment, elegantly furnished, on the 3rd floor with lift, parquet floors, coffered ceilings, and everything you need to enjoy your stay. Ideal for families and groups.
Beds configuration is pretty flexible as the apartment offers 4 bedrooms: 1 quadruple, 1 triple, 1 double and 1 small single one bedroom for sleeping 10 people maximum. An extra 11th folding bed can be added upon request for a kid only, upon request 1 week before your check in since its transportation needs to be arranged.
In detail the apartment bedrooms include:
- master bedroom with its ensuite bathroom: one California size double bed (180x215cm) plus one or two single beds (80x200cm); as an alternative one California size double bed (180x215cm) plus a standard double bed (160x200cm).
- 2nd double bedroom: one double (180x200cm) or two single beds (90x200cm);
- 3rd tiny single bedroom with its ensuite bathroom: one single bed (90x200cm);
- 4th triple bedroom: one double bed (180x200cm) with or without a third single bed (80x200cm); as an alternative three single beds. Exceptionally we can add a forth bed here but it is recommended for kids only, because the walking space would result limited.
At your convenience, a few days before arrival, you will be welcome to communicate your beds' setting preference.
The four bedrooms are served by 3 bathrooms, which include 3 showers and 1 tub bath. Hot water is available in quantity and strong pressure, since a double system fed by a gas heater and 3 independent electric boilers is in place, to make sure that you never run out of hot water. A state of the art softening and filtering system reduces the high concentration of calcium carbonate in the water avoiding the risk of dandruff of your hair and skin irritation after a shower and sparkling clean dishes and spot-free glasses from the dishwasher and better washing of your clothes from the washing machines.
The living room offers a flat screen smart TV with Int'l cable channels and bluetooth music loud speaker and radio. The dining room may seat up to 10 people. The live in kitchen has high end appliances, such as an induction plate with four zones for your safe cooking, ice maker, Nespresso machine, coffee maker toaster, electric kettle, blender, etc.. The laundry includes a dishwasher, 2 washing machines and a dryer.
All Rooms have closets, air conditioning (from May to October) and fans, Wi-Fi is available throughout.
Three fire extinguishers, five smoke and one gas detectors are available in the apartment, the latter controlling a solenoid valve and automatically closing gas supply in case of need. A first aid kit is also available, plus plasters and antiseptic in one of the bathrooms drawer.
One or two babies under 2 are welcome! Baby cribs are available on request, together with a complete baby set, including plastic cutlery, cups, plates and bowels, sippy cup, 2 highchairs with safety belts and trays, baby bathtub and toys, baby potty chair and toilet seat, children stool, games and DVDs, safety corner bumpers, electric safety plugs and a big soft Goofy! The baby kit is available for kids upon request.
The owner is available for check in and out, while well trained housekeepers clean and sanitize the apartment before your arrival and maintenance specialists make sure that everything is perfectly running.
Bed linens and 3 towels per person are provided. Extra towels are also available in each bathroom.
The apartment is situated very close to Piazza Navona and the Pantheon (at only 2 minutes walking distance), Campo dei Fiori (5 minutes walking distance), with Colosseum, Fori Imperiali and the Vatican at 10 min only. In the area there are many shops and boutiques, and it is very well connected by public transports such as bus (hope on hope off bus), tram, small electric bus, metro and taxi stops.
A supermarket opens daily and it's only 2 minutes away on the same street of the apartment, where a post office is also available next door. Around the corner is a luggage depot and airport delivery. The best coffee found in town is just 2 minutes away at Sant' Eustachio, while within 10 minutes walking there is choice of trattorias, restaurants, bistros and ice cream parlors (gelateria). A few minutes away is a lounge bar and club and many pubs. The owner may assist you offering a transportation service at a competitive fare from the airports, railway stations or the Civitavecchia harbour upon request. The owner is available 24/7 in case of need. The area is extremely safe because it's 500 meters from the Parliament and patrolled 24/7 by police and carabinieri.
Regarding visits and touristic tours, the owner suggests planning them in advance to the most popular sites, such as S.Peter’ Church, Vatican Museum, Galleria Borghese, Coliseum, Foro Romano and Pantheon. You may either buy online tickets or even book an English speaking guide. In any case it is recommended online purchasing of what it's called “jump the line” tickets, in order to avoid long lines at the entrance, even 3-4 hours. In particular if you wish please plan in advance any visit to the Vatican Museum, Coliseum and Galleria Borghese, since these are extremely popular sites.
In addition you may also be interested looking at the website of the Roman National Museum which is the largest archaelogical museum complex in Rome and consists of four different museum locations: Palazzo Massimo, Palazzo Altemps, Diocleziano’s Baths, Crypta Balbi.
Furthermore get access to the web sites of Musei Capitolini, Centrale Montemartini, Mercati di Traiano, Museo dell’Ara Pacis, Museo di Roma, Galleria d’Arte Moderna, Museo di Roma in Trastevere, Musei di Villa Torlonia, Planetario and the Zoology Museum. Most of these sites offer audioguides and are at a walking distance from the apartment.
In the winter, a day ski trip can be organized upon request by bus or by car to Ovindoli, Campo Felice, Roccaraso, Monte Livata, Rivisondoli, Pescocostanzo or other locations. Day trips can also be arranged all year around to Florence (by train), to Pompei (train or car), to the sea side or to the lakes (by car).
Shopping rides by van sitting up to 8 people can be organized upon request. This may also include a personal shopping specialist upon request focusing on your wish list to be communicated in advance. The owner lived in this apartment as his parents and grand parents did many years ago. He knows very well the area and can assist any need you may have if it's communicated in advance.

My own favorite places around the corner are the following:
- Ginger for your English breakfast or lunch (€35 per person) or dinner in a very civilized air conditioned two storey restaurant at Piazza di Sant’Eustachio 54 ph: +39066864995, just 100m, 2 min walking from the apartment;
- in front of Ginger, do not miss an expresso or a cappuccino or a monachina at Caffè Sant’Eustachio, probably the most popular coffee shop in Rome. Please tell them if you wish it with sugar or not while you are ordering, because it’s added before serving
- If you wish to eat a slice of pizza standing up in the Piazza Sant’Eustachio, do not miss Zaza’, offering a wide choice of tasteful options;
- Are you looking for a truly local trattoria with a very basic service?
L'Angoletto Romano in via Monterone 14, only 2 minutes walking, ph. +390668807444 or
Der Pallaro ph. +390668801488 where you may enjoy the day cooking of Mrs. Paola. The latest will offer a very rich menu, including appetizers, pasta, meat, vegetables, cake, wine and coffee at the fixed price of €25 per person;
- If you urgently need a rich plate of pasta carbonara, go to Maccheroni (€35 per person) in Piazza delle Coppelle 44 ph: +390668307895.
- a typical thin roman style pizza is offered at EMMA via del Monte della Farina 28 at 6 min. walking distance from the apartment (450 m) emmapizzeria.com +39 06 64760 475 or at Montecarlo pizzeria (not only pizza) (€30 per person) Vicolo Savelli 13 ph: +39066861877.
if you wish a fish restaurant, here there are a few:
- Per Me Giulio Terrinoni vicolo del Malpasso 9 ph. +39066877365 €50 per person
- Bistrot del Mare via dei Banchi Nuovi 51/52, ph +390668192228 €60 per person

- Pesci fritti trattoria via di Grotta Pinta 8 ph. +390668806170 € 45 per person
If you wish more pasta, here you are:

Fantastic property in central location
We are so pleased we booked this property. The owner Max was brilliant to deal with. Very informative, giving us lots of information on places of interest and places to eat before we arrived. He organised our transport to and from the airport. He met us at the property and talked us through how everything worked. There was a huge bowl of fruit and a fridge full of goodies which we thoroughly enjoyed. Very spacious property and ideal for our family party of 7. The property is centrally located with all the major places of interest within walking distance. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. We can thoroughly recommend.

Fantastic hosts in a great neighborhood
Just back from a short stay at this property. We were three couples and the apartment was perfect for what we wanted. Note the stairs - you have to be up for those - but as long as you are cool with that piece the rest of this place is great. It is an excellent location and the property and amenities are everything you'd want. Most importantly to me - these are people that greet you coming and going and make sure you are all set and enjoyed your stay. To me that is a real indicator of a host that is proud of their property and will stand behind it. Highly recommend!

Amazing place and host
Max went above and beyond. Not only is his house beautiful and comfortable, but he has thought of every detail to make guests feel welcome. There was a huge basket of fruit, cookies, candles, juice, soda, and more. The furniture is super comfortable and lovely, the location is literally a few blocks from the Pantheon and in the middle of a lovely neighborhood. 10 out of 10 stars!

Super location, super apartment, and wonderful proprietor
The apartment is exactly as advertised. The location is close to major attractions, walking distance to almost everywhere of interest for the able bodied, with a good supermarket steps away. Coffee and restaurants right there, and they are good. Massimo was a most gracious host. He took all the time needed to respond to questions on our arrival, and is very prompt in responding to questions that might arise. He was there in an instant when the apartment needed attention. We were a family of 7, 3 generations, and managed very well. Highly recommended.

I worked in International companies like Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Mobil Oil, Staples and others and I am now a consultant on corporate finance, specialised on restructuring and start up. After living in the UK, US and Italy and much travelling, I am now back to Rome and am looking forward to sharing with you the neighborhood, key attractions, discovering Rome and providing recommendations to enjoy your stay.

Why they chose this property

This property was passed down through the generations, as my grandfather bought it in 1948, and I have enjoyed living with my family at Palazzo Nari, just after marrying. I have wonderful memories of living in this spacious and comfortable apartment, situated in the heart of Rome. You do not need a car, just take your time and enjoy every minute of your stay.
I look forward to welcoming you to our family apartment of Palazzo Nari.

What makes this property unique

In a quite narrow street you will be surprised to climb the magnificent noble stairs of Palazzo Nari, even if a lift is available to get you to the third floor of this historical building. The apartment is completely renovated and presents all amenities to make your stay very comfortable. From a fully equipped kitchen and a large dining table sitting up to 10 people, to the powerful wi-fi and cable TV, each room offers comfortable beds and a spacious cupboard.
Palazzo Nari is situated at Rione Sant'Eustachio, the epicentre of Rome, where everything is at a waking distance, such as the Pantheon, piazza Navona, the Vatican museums, Fontana di Trevi and the Foro Romano with the Colosseum. The best shopping, restaurants, cafés and night clubs are close. Around the corner is a luggage depot and airport delivery. If you wish to experience Rome as a Roman, this is the way!
