Holly and Scott
About Holly and Scott
Scott grew up skiing in Vermont and we wanted to share the experience with our kids. We have owned the home since 2016 and have been busy with renovations and upgrades. During the projects, we have still been able to enjoy the house in all seasons and use it enough to figure out what was still needed in the kitchen, etc. We feel that it is finally at a place that we can share it with others and hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.
Holly and Scott purchased this House in 2016
Why Holly and Scott chose Stockbridge
We loved the unconventional look of the house and the private setting. The kids can play in the woods around the house or we can walk down the road to the river for swimming, fishing, or tubing. A short drive away and we can hike on the Appalachian Trail or the Long Trail, visit cute towns like Woodstock, tour ice cream factories, cheese makers, or breweries. They say you come for the winters but stay for the summers and they might be right! There is no shortage of things to do in Vermont in any season of the year.
What makes this House unique
Our house has a small, covered, deck off the dining room for grilling and/or dining or just enjoying a cup of coffee or glass of wine. A firepit and camp chairs can be set up on the driveway, which provides a fantastic location for star gazing (and s'more eating)! We have inner tubes for your use on the river. Put in at Peavine Park and pull out down the road at the bridge (both just a 15 minute walk from the house) or just hang around Peavine Park and float/swim around. Makes for a lovely, leisurely afternoon. Did we mention sledding in the winter? We have sleds for your use and no need to go farther than our own driveway! When you need to warm up, the house has a sauna upstairs and a lovely wood-burning insert in the living room.
Does not have crib, highchair, safety gates, etc.

Scott and Holly helped make an awesome surprise leaf peeping trip great! They offered suggestions for sight seeing and tried to help with activities too. Home was nice and clean. Kinda dark at night so arrive during daylight hours. Impressed with how well house was stocked with nice pots n pans and towels too. Full size laundry great for cleaning clothes after taking a unexpected “dip” in one of the local rivers. Lol! Fireplace was frosting on the cake! Sauna tad bit tiny but doable! Thanks guys!
The Crooked House
We were fortunate to have the Crooked House recommended to us by friends, and it did not disappoint. The house is beautiful and well kept, and the owners are very responsive to any questions you may have. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have every intention to return in the future.
Enjoyed our stay
We truly enjoyed our stay at the property. The place is perfect for us with two little children. Holly was very helpful to provide local insights. We enjoyed our stay!
Awesome house with espectacular views
The first day we got to the house we were stunned by the view, cleanliness, inviting vibes of the house. Everything what Holly ( the owner )had told me about the house was accurate and more than we ever expected. The peace, the warm feeling, it felt like home. We cooked I enjoyed having a big feast with all my family. All was pleasantly clean all the appliances and dishes. The second day when we went to Silver lake in the moment we fell in love with Vermont. We are truly thankful to Holly because she was honest , never hid anything from us although we were hesitant about mamma bear and its cubs it turned out to be a great experience for the kids to hear the bears growling and slightly disappointed we couldn’t actually see the bears. Definitely we recommend this gorgeous house to any family that wants to have a peaceful, relaxing vacation.
Thanks Holly for making our vacation memorable !!!
Thank you so much for your kind review. While I'm glad that the anticipation of seeing a bear provided some entertainment, we are trying to discourage it from visiting by putting in an official metal bear box this fall! All the best to your family.
Perfect Family Cabin in the Woods
Our family loved our stay at The Crooked House. The space is amazing! Multiple levels with nicely sized rooms. Plenty of space for everyone to relax. My boys loved all of the games and books in the house. We also enjoyed our time swimming and fishing in the river just a short distance from the house. The family who owns the space has been very thoughtful with everything they have inside the house to make our stay comfortable. Really great place to stay, can't recommend it enough! Would definitely stay there again.
The house was very nice, clean and spacious, but it was a little too secluded.butthe guys liked it
In the winter, ski at Killington, Pico, Sugarbush, Okemo, or Mad River Glen - all less than an hour from the house. Try out snowmobiling or snowshoeing or cross country skiing. Make snowmen or sled down the driveway. In the summer, walk down the road to the river for swimming, fishing, or tubing. Take a short drive and hike on the Appalachian Trail or the Long Trail, visit cute towns like Woodstock, tour ice cream factories, cheese makers, or breweries. They say you come for the winters but stay for the summers and they might be right! There is no shortage of things to do in Vermont in any season of the year.
