Waterfall Villa & Casitas is the perfect place if you love the outdoors and hiking as well as the tranquility of the jungle and all the wildlife, rivers and waterfalls it has to offer. Its location is amazing in the jungle of Baru in the gated community of Cascada Azul. Walk to the waterpark with a 220 foot waterfall in only 10 minutes and it's only a 15 minute drive to the small surfer's town and beach of Dominical. Other attractions in the area include Nauyaca Waterfall only a 5 min. drive up the mountain (includes a horseback ride as well as lunch). There's a reptile park called Parque Reptilandia just up the street from Nauyaca Waterfall where you'll find botanical gardens, and some of the most exotic reptiles in the world. Then there's Hacienda Baru Wildlife Refuge about 10 minutes down the mountain closer to the coast. Manuel Antonio National Park is another must see destination in Costa Rica (beach photo above). It's approximately a 40 minute drive along the coast (close to Quepos). Some of the most pristine beaches of Costa Rica are located in Manuel Antonio along with their diverse food varieties and an array of vendors and adventures like parasailing, horseback riding along the beach, kayaking, surfing etc. Just north of Quepos is the Monkey Mangrove Tour which is another fantastic adventure where you'll get to feed the wild monkeys after going on a boat through the Mangroves. They also offer sport fishing in the Mangroves, A Kayaking Adventure as well as a Mangrove Night Tour. Then if you head back up the mountain past Nauyaca Waterfall you can visit the bustling town of San Isidro. It's about 35 minutes up the mountain from the Waterfall Villa & Casitas. Mingle with the locals and dine in the many restaurants and find some fantastic shopping deals. The view up the mountain is incredible as well. It's best to head out early so you can spend the day taking in the Costa Rica way of life in one of their largest cities. See the links below for more information on these recommended tourist attractions. At Waterfall Villa and Casitas you will be provided with 2 bedrooms, a kitchen with fridge, hotplate, coffee maker, toaster oven & cooking utensils/pots/plates etc. The bathroom, with hot water and a stand up shower, has all been updated as well as a new covered deck that overlooks the jungle. There will be towels provided as well as laundry on site.

Why Courtney Gill chose Cascada Azul
I fell in love with this property as soon as I saw it online initially.. When I went there in person I knew this was the perfect place to build my dream. The Waterfall is so peaceful and the small swim hole is perfect for sitting with your glass of wine or beer and cooling off under the waterfall. It truly is an oasis. Even at night, you hear the sounds of the waterfall's and the noises of the jungle and I love the way the moonlight reflects off the entire area in the middle of the night. It's the most beautiful thing imaginable. In the daytime it's great to sit in the rocking chairs overlooking the jungle and creek below and watching the pizote as they pass by the waterfall and wander down the creek to the tilapia pond at the bottom of the property. Truly a unique experience.

Beautiful Jungle Setting
It was a great way to experience Costa Rica. The house is nice and remote, set next to a waterfall (no better way than to wake up to the sound of water!) The owner was very helpful and communicated with us easily on any advice we needed for the trip. Read the description, as the house doesn't have walls and is open with screens, and you have to climb down a long flight of stairs to get to the house. We didn't mind, and loved that actually. We didn't have too many issues with bugs as some visitors had, which could have been attributed to the time of year we visited plus following the owners directions she sent prior to the trip. It was a great location, and note that it does mention you need 4-wheel drive to access. We rented a small SUV, however; could have possibly gotten away without. Also note that a GPS system is nice to find the house at first, yet it's really easy to get around thereafter.
The house is a 10 minute drive from Dominical, which has a nice natural food market and a few shops. This was a great resource to have close by for cooking.
Thanks for an amazing stay - the kids and everyone loved it!
Gorgeous nature spot; villa needs some TLC
My husband and I just came back from our vacation at the villa. We loved the location, it's the most picturesque place we ever stayed. However, villa needs some maintenance. Until we arrived there, we did not realized that this villa is 100% open air, the only thing between you and rainforest is a net. I either missed it in the description or it was not clear beforehand. Overall we had a great time, because we always make the best of any situation and we definitely loved the secluded location, yet so close to many great natural attractions.
Amazing gateway to relaxation
We just spent 3 weeks in paradise. This amazing place is close to great restaurants, shopping, and trails but far enough away that you are truly staying in a jungle. We have been to Costa Rica 8 times and have never seen wildlife like we have seen Waterfall Villa and Jungle Retreat.
We had a wonderful time staying at the Waterfall Villa. The owner gave detailed instructions that I would recommend following. We had no problems with insects. While we were there we enjoyed seeing beautiful birds, and white faced monkeys. We went on a few birding excursions, enjoyed dinner at several restaurants and smoothies in Dominical. The only drawback to this villa would be the steps. Carrying luggage, and going to and from your car may be difficult if you are not in top shape. I had to stop a few times to rest while climbing the stairs to get to the parking area. Other than that we had an amazing time and felt immersed in the jungle!
Not what I expected
I did rate this property three stars because of the scenery. It is extremely beautiful and well worth the effort to get there. However, the fact that the bathroom does not have a full ceiling or a functioning door makes privacy impossible. Also you can't have any lights on at night, which is 5ish or 5:30, because of the bugs is ridiculous. I do understand that it is in the middle of a forest, so maybe this is to be expected. Like I said, it was not what I expected.
Our stay in this villa was truly amazing. The view and surroundings were beautiful and very soothing. It made us feel truly connected to nature. Courtney and Patty were super helpful and made us feel like we were family. Totally recommend this villa and would love to return and stay in Cascada Azul. Thank you courtney for all your help, we appreciate it very much.
Thanks Cecilia, I'm glad you and your guests had a wonderful time at my Villa. You and your friends and family are welcome to come back and stay anytime. I'm glad Patty and I were able to help you out and I'm glad you had a great vacation in the end.
