About Gary and Cindy Kunz

Our seven bedroom lodge was built in 1915 as a private home. Cottages were built later and became Lawrence Cottages. The Luce family purchased the resort in 1960 and we continue to strive to maintain comfort and peacefulness while balancing the historical significance of waterfront housekeeping cottages.

Gary and Cindy Kunz purchased this cottage in 1960

Why Gary and Cindy Kunz chose Lake Winnipesaukee Area

A westerly exposure means sun all afternoon in our swimming area and beautiful sunsets!

Our customers (some have been returning for over 40 years now) feel there is something special about our beautiful location on this pristine lake.

What makes this cottage unique

A deep well on the property assures excellent drinking water.

Get in touch with nature, perfect for boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming and fishing for all ages. Children love to catch fish in and around the boathouse and many improve their swimming skills during their stay.

There are few locations on the 'big lake' that offer so much privacy without a long drive to the store and services. Restaurants and groceries are only 2 minutes by car or boat. Restaurants ranging from family fast food to gourmet meals are within a couple of miles.

Our location is in a quiet non-commercialized area, assuring our guests of privacy. The cottages have a wonderful view of the lake and surrounding woods, and are spaced to insure privacy.

A great spot for a family-friendly vacation

  • 5 of 5

We spent a relaxing week with our teens in the impeccably clean two bedroom cottage at Colonial Pines. The property is quiet and shaded by many pine trees with enough space between each cottage to provide a little privacy when desired. The kitchen had all the necessities plus a full-sized refrigerator and stove, so we stocked up on groceries at the nearby Hannaford Supermarket and enjoyed many meals at the table in the screened-in porch.

The lake had warm and clear water and we enjoyed swimming, paddling our little boat around, and just hanging around near the water. We capped off several days by spending evenings relaxing by the stone fireplace while enjoying some s'mores.

We found Colonial Pines to be a good home base for our daytime excursions (hiking, biking, sightseeing) with convenient access to local restaurants and places to get ice cream (Kellerhaus!). The owners live on site and were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent place to relax for the whole family! Beautiful, peaceful, clean and comfortable.

Wonderful vacation spot! All you need to relax and get away from stresses of life. This was our first vacation with all our children. We have 3 young kids, 8, 3 and 8 month old. This cozy cottage on the lake had everything we needed and more! I loved the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of the camp, with beautiful pine trees all around. My husband and son did a ton of fishing, we all got to swim and relax on the deck. The cottage had everything needed for cooking, so we didn't have to go out to eat, which was very convenient. The owners, Cindy and Gary, are very nice and knowledgable of the area and the attractions. They are very accommodating, friendly and always available to help. They are very respectful of the privacy of their guests and by no means overbearing with rules and regulations. We really enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to come back!

The Cabin meet our every expectation & was described perfectly. Charming & beautiful are the first words that come to mind. The owners are so inviting and personable. We had to leave for an emergency, and they were so understanding & gracious. Thank you! We will come again.

P.S. The Lake & view are amazing.

Wonderful week

  • 5 of 5

This was a very comfortable cabin with full kitchen and wifi and cable. We were looking for a place to relax and unwind, and this was it. Easy access to a waterfront great for swimming and kayaking and just hanging out. There were shops for food and fun, restaurants, antiques, mini-golf, and beach arcades all within easy driving distance. Cindy and Gary were great. We had a wonderful week.

A relaxing and beautiful place to unwind.

  • 5 of 5

This place was every bit as advertised and then some! The beds were comfortable, the house was clean, and the kitchen had plenty of cookware and dishes. The grounds are breath-taking. Our young children loved the sandbox, the fish in the boathouse, the diving board, AND the owners, Gary and Cindy. Gary and Cindy went out of their way to play with our kids--our kids can't stop talking about Mr. Gary and the little vacation house by the lake. There is plenty to do here, it is within walking distance to stores and restaurants, and our only regret is that we had to leave. We would definite stay here again and recommend Colonial Pines Resort to couples, families, and just about anyone.
