About Eric and Christy Gieser

Our family lives in Alaska but loves to spend time with our extended family in Tucson.

Eric and Christy Gieser purchased this mobile home in 2013

Why Eric and Christy Gieser chose Tucson

We bought this property as a way to have easy access to one of our favorite vacation spots and to thaw out from the cold Alaska winters. Did we mention the view?!

Perfect getaway home!!!

  • 5 of 5

The house was absolutely amazing. It was very well stocked. The outside patio is nice and big with the most amazing view of the Catalina Mountains. The kids enjoyed the pool and the mini golf area. The pool was a bit cold, but the jacuzzi is nice and warms you up quickly. Eric and Christy were super nice and whenever we had any questions their response time was very quick. We will definitely be staying here again. It is the perfect getaway for the family.

Great place, great views!

  • 5 of 5

We were really happy with the house and amenities. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked, there were lots of games and pool toys, the views are great, and everything was very clean! It was a bit of a drive to get to the places we wanted to see (for example: Sabino Canyon and the Desert Museum), but we knew the location wasn't central and the house/pool/views made up for it. And it was quiet, although we did hear coyotes one night! The only things that would make the stay perfect would be a heated pool and not having to take the garbage and recycling somewhere.

A CLEAN, RELAXING VACATION WITH BEAUTIFUL VIEWS

  • 4 of 5

This was a great VRBO experience. Eric and Christy's place was wonderfully spaced, nicely decorated, and very peaceful. The views were amazing and we loved the variety of birds that we woke to each morning having coffee on the patio. Everything was clean and we were shocked by the amenities that were provided if needed. The only cons were the bed was too bouncy soft in the master (We are memory foam sleepers) and wished it was a king. The pool was too cold for me, but my son braved the water and was happy. Be aware that you are responsible for your own trash...$20, so try to go only once. The transfer station is a short drive. For the price of this rental we didn't mind the extra cost, but it was a surprise on arrival. Maybe it's the way they do it in Arizona? Overall the pros outweighed any cons. We got to meet David Levy (amateur astronomer)....😊, heard a pack of coyotes feet from the hot tub, and had spectacular clear skies!

Would recommend this home!!!

Thanks again

Tracy

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. So happy you enjoyed the stay overall. Regarding the trash fee, we had to decide between having guests take a large garbage receptacle up and down the long driveway hill, or just pay a small fee and transport garbage a short drive away. It is a small trade off for having a secluded location and amazing view. Please come again!

Beautiful property and well appointed household

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay during our time in the Tucson area. It was just far enough from town to have some quiet space and privacy, yet close enough to enjoy the city proper as well.

The hot tub and fire pit were great for the cool nights. The pool was clean and looked inviting, however it is not heated, so it was too cold for us to swim. Overall, a great stay. Becky welcomed us as we arrived at the property and was very helpful in showing us around. All the light switches are labeled so some of the guesswork is taken out of operating the house, which was helpful. Our last night we had a little fire in the firepit and watched the moon shadows on the mountain. A relaxing and enjoyable stay! If the pool were heated I'd give it five stars! :)

An Amazing Stay at the Tucson Hilltop Oasis

  • 5 of 5

We arrived in Tucson having travelled by auto from Edmonton,AB Canada. I had communicated with Eric and Christy a couple times after we booked their home several months ago, and they had provided amazingly fast responses to our questions - usually in less then an hour! We were met by the couples relative Becky, who was so charming and knowledgeable! She took time to show us around and tell us all the features of the home, the putting green, the pool and hot tub! When she was through we felt that we had a great understanding of what to expect - including when the gardener came and the pool guy! The house is situated on a hilltop as described providing great views if the valley below. Being on a hilltop it is very private - except for the occasional visits of the many species of birds, the coyotes and of course the neighbourhood bobcat!

What can i say about this house? It was wonderful for us! The houses three bedrooms were tastefully decorated and fairly large. The kitchen was very well stocked and lacked nothing that we needed. The spacious living and dining areas were very well lighted and quite comfortable. The beds and linens were very comfortable - although we missed our own pillows ( who doesn't?) The great features of this home were the patio, pool and hot tub, of course the putting green also provided for some entertainment, but being social creatures we spend hours sitting around the pool, catching some rays and enjoying the incredible views of the Catalina Mountains and at night the star filed sky. The house provided some floatation devices for our use and is also well stocked with various board games and reading material. Note to Canadian renters - the pool is not heated so we found it a bit cold but nevertheless we braved the 64 degree water on a few occasions and lets just say it awoke us out of our slumber! lol. The hot tub made up for the pool! Again this home has great amenities!

We used the home as a base for our day trips to locations such as Mount Lemmon, Tombstone, Biosphere 2, Old Tucson, Saguaro National Forest, and of course the Phoenix and Mesa area. The home is located in Catalina itself just about 3 miles north of the Oro Valley, and as such is actually North East of Tucson....so its about a 30 minute drive into Tucson itself....for us that was a nice buffer as we felt completely safe and private!

I have VRBO'd in several different location throughout the USA and Canada and i would have no hesitation in recommending it

Our fortress on the hill.

  • 4 of 5

Dear Christy, Eric & Becky,

We really enjoyed our Month stay in your lovely home on the hill. The view was great and the stars twinkled at night. A special thanks to Becky for always being there when we needed her. We have been to the Oro Valley before and some of our favorites are Sabino Canyon and the International Wildlife Museum. We are hikers and have found many wonderful trails each time we come to visit. We will be back, sometime in the near future, and hope to stay in your lovely home. With many thanks, Ted, Kathy, Dick & Andrea
