Beautiful, spacious and light-filled house
I reserved this house for the week of my son’s wedding and it was everything I hoped for. The living space and kitchen is beautiful and spacious with lots of light and windows. The bedrooms/bathrooms provide lots of privacy for the guests (One bedroom/bath is on the ground floor with the garage and has less light, but easier if stairs are a problem). The rooftop patio is a bonus with a beautiful view of the cityscape (It is smaller than it looks in pictures, but wonderful). The location for the Fishtown experience is great also, with lots of restaurants in walking distance. You will hear the elevated train go by routinely which added to the experience, in my opinion, but it is noisy. The host is responsive and attentive (and very specific in instructions that can feel a bit scolding and harsh at times) but there was no problem with deposit return or anything. I was so grateful to have found this house - it was perfect for what I needed during a very important week in my family’s life!
Excellent location and amenities!
What a great place to stay for a few fun days in Philadelphia. Hell, I could LIVE here and be perfectly content! It exceeded our expectations — especially the private rooftop deck with stunning, panoramic views of the city and skyline. Gorgeous!
This roomy tri-livel home is spacious and bright with high ceilings, tons of windows, and it’s comfortably furnished and appointed. The central air (including a second system just for the upstarirs) was nice and cool. We had everything we needed and more! The in unit washer and dryer came in handy on our last day when we got caught out in the rain.
Free parking in the attached garage was a huge bonus! Neighborhood is really vibrant and fun, but this block is very quiet. Slept with windows open one cooler night and it was so peaceful. Beats the pants off staying in a hotel. I would love to stay here again if we’re ever back in Philly.
You can pretty much walk to a ton of stuff nearby. Uber & Lyft are great options and usually minimum fare rides. The subway stop is a few blocks away at Front & Girard St. You can also use the Philly bike share system, Indego... which I use a lot. You can Google it to get the station map, or download the mobile app.
There's a grocery store at 2nd & Girard (Acme) and for household staples, try the dollar store near Front & Girard.
A great website to find events in Philly is http://uwishunu.com
Restaurants: There’s a ton! Here’s a few.
Johnny Brendas: Music venue on Frankford & Girard
Barcade: bar with old school video games
Stock: Vegan Pho! And other good stuff.
Fette Sau: Stephen Starr BBQ place… like the one in Brooklyn
Barbury: fun eclectic dance spot full with all kinds of people
Frankford Hall: Large beer selection & quick German themed food
Fishtown Brewpub: Upscalish craft beer spot.
Kensington Quarters: Laid back but higher end food
Streetside: On Girard near Hancock Street. Inexpensive Vietnamese food that’s good.
Kraftwork: A bit further away but my favorite brunch spot in the area.
Front Street Café: Solid spot
Poke Bowl: On 2nd Street a little further away, but it’s worth the Poke.
Food trucks: There’s often food trucks at the corner of Frankford & Girard at night.
Ortliebs: 3rd & Poplar, long established jazz hole with taco Tuesdays.
Blackbird Pizza: Vegan centered pizza
Seven Eleven: Open 24/7 and located on Girard St. between Front & Frankford.
