Well maintained with smart decorations and courtesy
Clean, well maintained, and decorated. Cozy but spacious. You will feel like being a guest of your relatives or close friend. You can tell the owner has great pride and affection on the cabin. I've rented many cabins, this was the best! We are planning to come back in next few months. "Thank you, Arlene."
Thanks so much for your stay! We take a lot of pride in the cabins we manage. The Lilac Cottage is very cozy and the yard is spacious...just perfect for a couple or a few people to enjoy the crisp mountain air and star gaze at night. It's been a hot summer, but thankfully we have the cool evenings to counter that!
Great cottage if you want to get away
I love it here during my stay here. Cottage was comfortable. Nice and cozy. My family enjoyed every night here.
Thanks again for choosing the Lilac Cottage for your get-away in Wrightwood. I hope that you and your family made some wonderful memories during your stay...you are always welcome back!
My overall experience was a very bad one...the entire neighborhood is extremely loud and noisey at all times of the night and morning ...barking neighbor dogs at 5:45 am plus a very bad smell of gas ...so basicaly do not stay at this cabin you will not get any piece and quite that is stated .....do not stay hear...a horrible place left me throwing up on an early morning because of the smelll.....and when u contact owner she will say it's your fault
For anyone reading this review, I hope you will take the time to read the legitimate reviews of the Lilac Cottage as well as all the other cabins I manage. Every once in a while, someone like this guest comes along trying to get some money back after a stay. Anyone in business knows “this” customer!
In a nutshell, I communicated with this guest no less than six times during his stay and never once was there a complaint…just compliments! Had I researched this guest a little more and found out that his glass blowing business is mostly making drug paraphernalia, I would never have rented to him. You can make your own judgements. If you have the time for a laughable read, read the following correspondence between us.
Me (after he wrote asking for a refund) I am so very sorry to hear about all the issues you had at the cabin. It is normally very peaceful & quiet. I'm confused about a lot of the issues you had. First of all, I wish you had brought them to my attention immediately; it would have been very easy to switch you to another cabin. Additionally, I have all of the neighbors' phone numbers, so I could have talked to them about any noise issues. I'm not sure which dog you are referencing, but if I knew what house the barking was coming from, I would have called the neighbor immediately. I would like to know which neighbor yelled at you. If it was the house to the left (the one you said was noisy) I can only imagine the horn honking could have awakened their toddler from a nap. If it was just a short chirp, I can't imagine why they would have yelled.
The gas is very concerning to me. Had you told me you smelled gas I would have come over immediately. Most likely a pilot blew out and that is what you were smelling. If it wasn't the pilot, I would have called the gas company. Again, had you brought any of these issues up to me during your stay I would have addressed them immediately. For future reference, when you are staying at a vacation rental or hotel, it is imperative that you voice any complaints immediately so they can be taken care of.
Unfortunately, after the fact, there is not much we can do.
I hope that your business dealings in San Bernardino went well for you.
Him: I was not able to contact u be acute I was there for work and extremely busy during the day I did not get back to the cabin until midnight every night ...I really had no time at all to contact u...it's very unfortunate that u can't give me a discount..thanks for nothing...
Perfect for a small group looking to stay locally
Our stay in Wrightwood was great thanks to our choice to stay here. The house was perfect for the two of us being close to the town but far enough away to be super quiet and relaxing.
We are so glad that the Lilac Cottage worked out so well for you! We are so fortunate to be close enough to the highway for convenience, but far enough away that we don't hear any traffic. And I love how you can sit on the front porch for 20 minutes without seeing a car go by! We love walking into the village for shopping or dinner and not having to move our car at all while we are in town.
Hopefully, if you come out this way again, you will consider staying with us again!
Very cozy and clean
This rental was exactly what we wanted on our little mini vacation to the snow. We had no problems at all!
Charming Cottage under the Pines
This darling cottage was just what I needed...clean, quaint, and close to town and hiking, just as advertised. It is a small cabin, but was perfect for our family of five. Our youngest loved sleeping in the upstairs bedroom which was equipped with some toys and decorated like he was camping! The queen bed downstairs was firm but very comfortable. The other two kids slept on the full bed in the other bedroom. We watched a movie at night while we had a beautiful fire. The kitchen is small, but big enough for us to use for our family.
During the day we took a beautiful hike right up the street and in the evening we sat out on the deck and star gazed!
I appreciated having WIFI as I have a business I have to run even while on vacation.
At first I thought it odd that we had to bring our own towels, but Arlene explained the septic system and the water restrictions. It really was no problem at all to pack a few bath towels.
We had a small issue, but I called Arlene and it was immediately resolved. I really can't say enough about how cute this little cottage is and how much we enjoyed escaping the city. We will consider this our "cottage away from home!"
We will be back again and again!
We welcome respectful guests like you and your family back again and again! Thank you so much for being such great guests; I'm so glad we got a chance to meet you all. Your review means a lot to us, especially since we just opened up a short time ago. We are constantly making improvements and always look for suggestions to make our properties even better.
Thanks again for your visit!

Jackson Lake is a small body of water located in a canyon 7.1 miles (15 minutes) east of Wrightwood and Big Pines. Jackson Lake was formed by the San Andreas fault, and is mostly fed by snow runoff from the mountains. During summer months, many fishermen utilize Jackson Lake, as it is the only real place to go fishing in Wrightwood. During winter months it isn't uncommon to see the top of Jackson Lake frozen over with ice. Jackson Lake is good for more than just fishing. The area is a hub for campgrounds and picnic areas. A
