Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Narragansett - Great Island

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 9)

Enjoy salt water views from the large wrap around porch, second story deck and the yard of this home on picturesque Great Island. Just 1 mile from Salty Brine Beach, 2 miles from Sand Hill Cove Beach and 3 miles from Scarborough Beach this completely renovated home is ideal for summer fun or quiet spring/fall weekends with the family.

There's plenty of room in our 1500 sq ft home for three couples or two entire families vacationing together. After a day at the beach let the kids run around in the yard on this quiet island yet you are less than a mile from some of the town's best seafood restaurants and the historic fishing port of Galilee where the Block Island Ferry departs.

This is our vacation home which we use regularly, not an investment property. We acquired the property in the spring of 2007 and completely renovated it top to bottom in 2008/9 including an open floor plan with cathedral ceilings as well as new bedrooms and bathrooms. About David Menninger

We are a family of seven with kids ranging from elementary school to young adult. Throughout our lives we've always spent time near the water and need to get our water fix periodically.

David Menninger purchased this house in 2007

Why David Menninger chose Narragansett area

Our home is located in a quiet residential area of Narragansett known as Great Island. There are no commercial properties of any kind on the island and nearly all the homes are within 100 yards of the water. As soon as you drive onto the island, with it's winding roads and small rolling hills, you know you are on vacation.

What makes this house unique

We spent a long time looking for an 'upside down' house. You will enjoy views of the water from the open floor plan living room, dining area and kitchen on the second floor just steps from the second story deck and picnic table.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We visited in October 2009 for a week & had a wonderful time. The home was very spacious & beautifully decorated, with lots of nice touches. The neighborhood was terrific and only a short drive to local beaches & attractions. Plenty of seating room outside with a great upper deck and lower porch area. The owners were very nice & accomodating. Thanks again!

Great house,location and views!

We four sisters had great time in Rhode Island. The shops and restaurants were quite good and the people were extremely nice. The house was very comfortable and relaxing - just what we wanted. Many thanks to Dave for perfect directions and being there if we needed help!

Lovely house, fantastic location. Great fit for larger groups.

  • 5 of 5

We had a small family reunion in Rhode Island and needed to find a house that would fit nine people. This house was lovely and fit the bill perfectly. The balcony is great for meals overlooking the water. We also loved the room with five twin beds as a place to put all the kids. The owners were extremely responsive and everything was in great condition.

Lovely house in quiet neighborhood with salt lake view from deck

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this Great Island property over Labor Day weekend. It's a lovely, spacious, comfortable house in a very nice neighborhood of large, attractive homes.

The kitchen, living room and diningroom are on the upper floor and allow for a view of the salt pond from the upper deck, where we tended to linger over breakfast. There is a row of houses between this one and the water, but they are situated to allow for the view. It's a very nice area, quiet.

There were only three of us, so the house was plenty large. It can easily accommodate a good size family, since the third bedroom has plenty of sleeping room for kids. The kitchen was well equipped and spotless and the livingroom furniture comfortable.

We were in contact with the owners several times via email before and during our stay. They were very accommodating and quick to answer any questions we had.

We did not go to any beaches in the immediate area, but as best I could tell you'd need a car to get to them. This isn't a house for those who want a vacation right on the beach. But it's a great place if you want easy access by car to what the RI shoreline has to offer. It's a quick drive, for example, to the Block Island Ferry.

Island Gem

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect setting for our family to gather to attend our daughters URI graduation. The home was neat clean and very comfortable. We were able to enjoy coffee on the deck in the morning, while enjoying the activities over the water. In the afternoon we sat in the screened porch area to enjoy a glass of wine.

Although we didn't have beach time, the numerous beaches were a sort drive away. We did notice the reasonable price to purchase a beach pass for the week.

We loved eating out at the nice selections of restaurants. Matunuck Oyster Bar a must!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful property!

A lovely holiday rental

  • 5 of 5

Booked this house from the UK to spend time with my son who now lives in RI with his family. The house was immaculate and even better than the photos. Plenty of room and really well stocked to meet your needs. We were very fortunate to have lovely weather and the children enjoyed almost deserted beaches and loved the large garden to play in as we prepared dinner. The owners have been very helpful and prompt to reply when contacted. One problem - we were unable to spend more time there 😎 . Thank you so much - hope we can visit again in the future. Very best regards.

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

The house was AMAZING, and much bigger than we anticipated, the pictures do it no justice. All 3 bedrooms comfortably accommodated the 6 of us with room to spare. We loved having a full kitchen and outdoor grill as we enjoy preparing most of our own meals. The week was warmer than we thought it would be for mid-September in RI, we had the entire Salty Brine Beach to ourselves! We also enjoyed the many walks from the house to town to watch the boats come in/out of the harbor and spent a few afternoons at Champlins overindulging in the freshest seafood we have EVER had. Oh and how can I forget the sunsets from the top deck of the house...they are spectacular, especially while eating a lobster dinner fresh off the boat that morning! We made use of each and every minute spent at your home and around Point Judith. The family memories we shared are priceless. We look forward to our next visit and stay at your home !
