La Alpispa Country Apartment is an ancient Canary peasant’s house designed and fully restored to enjoy a unique environment within the frame of Doramas Rural Park in Valleseco. Comfort and design go hand in hand to make your stay an unforgettable experience of rest. The cottage has been adapted with facilities for guests with different levels of disability, as well as for those who do not need an accessible space, making a stay in our place a true retreat from the daily routine.

The building, acquired by its current owners in 1997, dates back to the 19th century. The oldest part of the building, where the stables and the barn are, as well as the main patio have been fully restored and adapted to modern standards of quality and comfort. All those rooms and open spaces (2153 ft²) give name to what nowadays is known as La Alpispa.

The whole area comprises a main lodging area, namely La Posada, is an apartment of 538 ft² with its kitchenette-dining area, living room, shower room with toilet, and a wide bedroom. All this space is fully accessible for the disabled. The Barn is an auxiliary bedroom with two beds and a toilet. El Alpendre (the satbles) is a private pub for the exclusive use of our guests equipped with multi-media devices such as digital projector, 100' screen and Hi-Fi system (all of this must be hired separately on request). These three dependencies are joined together by a large porch that holds a six seats dining table. Next to this porch there is a wide open stone tiled patio (1184 ft²) with a second roofed area that holds a double leveled barbacue and a small gas grill (charcoal and/or gas are not provided though we can help our guests to get them). This space features countertop with sink and drawers with all the necessary utensils to barbecue and enjoy a meal on the outside of the house.

At a lower level we find the sheltered garage (one space) and a land estate of 21528 ft² completely isolated from the outside and the neighboring farms, where there are large number of fruit trees of the season: Avocados, apple trees, yellow plum trees, pear trees, loquat tree, nectarine, peach, lemon, orange and tangerine trees. The disposition of the estate has allowed to create long flower beds with season flowers, medicinal and aromatic herbs; two spots with turf in one of which stands a fountain with a comfortable bank will allow you to enjoy the sound of the water and observe the many birds that live in the trees of this peculiar farm. At this same level, from May to October, we set up a 107 ft² x 54 ft² American swimming pool with their corresponding tanning-beds (6) for sunbathing. From November to April this space becomes a sport area for practicing badminton, volleyball, mini-basket and football-3 (we provide balls, nets and rackets free of charge). As the Canary weather allows sunbathing during Autumn and Winter time this area is also regularly used by our guests for sunbathing on the tanning-beds; there is a comfortable outdoor shower for cooling down from the sun if necessary. In this same area we find a large shag that we have called El Retiro, The Retreat, as this is a room fully designed for rest and relax. It holds a hot tub for two people and a large gas heater for the Autumn and Winter season, an exercise bicycle and a couch where devouring our favourite reading or simply let yourself go with the flow of the birds sing.

The rest of the house is inhabited by their owners, although in certain seasons these are absent from it. When they are in the property they live in a higher level perfectly delimited, not being invasive in any case with the Alpispa dependencies, having even different accesses to their part of the property. This makes nearly impossible meeting them during your stay. With all this, privacy in the use and enjoyment of the facilities by guests at La Alpispa is fully guaranteed. The use of common spaces by the owners is limited to the garden care just in case this is necessary. Please note that when guests and owners coincide in the property, these are pleased to solve any eventuality or inconvenience that might arise, as well as to provide their advice and knowledge of the place so that their guests get full advantage of their stay in this beautiful region of Gran Canaria.

The extensive network of trails, roads, recreational areas, centres of interpretation and scattered traditional hamlets away from the bustling activity of the populated cities of the island make this area a unique place for a holiday in full contact with nature. If you finally decide touring the island by car from this geographical location will make you go back home with the feeling of having completed an authentic natural and cultural immersion in the island of Gran Canaria.

About Eloise

The Alpispa is run by a married couple with two young girls. For labour reasons they have had the opportunity to travel around Europe, what has made them aware of the tastes and needs of European tourism visiting Gran Canaria, island where they were born. Thanks to that baggage they are highly susceptible to advise guests on the most interesting corners of the island to discover, especially those out of the beaten track. Both have a highly fluid level of written and oral English.

Amongst their hobbies they highlight gastronomy, reading, gardening, but overall, enjoying this beautiful land in where they have grown.

Please do not hesitate in asking them for advice if you are willing to discover Gran Canaria from a different perspective to that of massive tourism. I promise they will not disappoint you.

Why Eloise chose Valleseco

For the owners of this outstanding property, this area of the island brings them back to memories of their past as this was a region they used to visit regularly in their childhood and youth. Immersed in their maturity age they decided to move to this old house because they wanted to enjoy a more intimate contact with the natural environment, and also because, this region offers the possibility of enjoying the four seasons of the year in a way that, in the coast areas of Gran Canaria, it is not appreciated. The mild climate of the region, as well as the purity of the environment ended up persuading them that this was the right place to form a family. With all of this in mind and with the passing of the years they have transformed an old building in a modern facility that features a large number of of luxury details for its guests in the setting of a natural environment.

All those who visit this region and stay at La Alpispa highlight the fact that the lodge gives its guests the opportunity to fully disconnect from the daily routine in an atmosphere of intimacy. Foreign guests as well as local visitors who do not know this region tend to be surprised by its beauty and the high degree of conservation of the natural environment. Not in vain, the municipality of Valleseco has coined the slogan: 'Valleseco, ancient green'.

To all this we should add the fact that La Alpispa is located in an ideal area to discover all those places in the North, the West and the heights of the island which make Gran Canaria a unique destination in any season of the year. The South of the island, with all its major sun and beach attractions, are within an hour drive. The return and the rest in this privileged area tend to give the traveller the feeling of having made an excellent choice.
