Clean Property in a location that made navigating DC easy
We had a wonderful experience at this place! It was clean and well taken care of. The location was close to stores and an easy walking distance from the national mall, union station and many other locations.
convenient locations and beautiful rental!
The house was very nice. The beds were comfortable and had extra pillows for those who like to have multiple and location was great. I felt safe as it was on a main road, with close parking, and the surrounding area was well kept up on showing that the people in the community cared. It was a 15 minute walk from the local Convention Center, Giant, and some great restaurants/bars. The property is very spacious as we were a group of 6 and did not feel like we were cramped, on top of ourselves, or even limited in anyway. The house itself had everything we needed. There was dinner ware, cooking ware, trash bags, laundry detergent, shampoo, body wash, extra linen, and paper goods. There even was a new Roku with many streaming services available. I would however recommend a DVD/Blu-Ray player being added. The door lock was a great touch with a pin pad so no physical keys were needed. Everyone in my group was able to come and go without any issues which was extremely convenient (a previous review said that the lock was finicky but all you have to do is pull ever so slightly on the handle when its locking and its perfect). We received our refund two days after arriving home from our trip. My group would stay here again considering we will be in DC yearly.
Beautiful and Spacious Property
We are a family of five and recently rented this property for our visit to DC. The property is very spacious and beautiful! It is in close proximity to the city and there is a Safeway within walking distance. You just need to be careful to follow the guidelines on the parking signs. It is best to park on the opposite side of the street 7am - 9:30 am M - F because there is no parking directly in front of the house during the week. Thank you for a lovely stay!
Charming house, good location.
The house was nice, the beds comfortable and location was great. Was a 20 min walk from union station and 10 min bike ride to the Capitol every day. The only issue was that the blinds did not work but that was low priority and only informed owner after stay.
Thank you for letting us know regarding the curtains. They will be replaced.
Very clean, had everything we needed, and was close to everything. Would stay here again!
Adequate but not fancy
We rented this home for the National STEM festival held at the convention center in April 2018. This home was convenient to the convention center but the neighborhood where you walked was marginal (not a place I would have walked at night or set on the front or back porch). The home needed landscaping cleanup and was a bit overgrown and dilapidated outside. The home inside was okay. It was clear that there had been some renovations but there were others needed. The cleaning was adequate but not exemplary (dusty light fixtures, a dirty washcloth left in the shower). There was a minimal hodgepodge of furnishing and no televisions in the bedrooms. The door lock was finicky. Also, information on how to access the home was not provided until after 10pm the day before we were scheduled to arrive. I had to call the home owner, who was very nice. However, the process was stressful and I did expect better service since I had to pay the entire balance for the stay at the time of booking a month prior. Also, it took two week to receive my deposit refund. The overall rental experience was okay but I would likely pick a different location next time.
I am very sorry to hear this stay was disappointing. I have hosted hundreds of guests from professionals to families from all over the world and am a super host on other short term rentals sites. This is one of the worst reviews received. We do live in a hundred plus year old classic DC rowhouse. Find it a bit insulting to be called dilapidated. It is indeed not. We do have new cleaning staff and am deeply sorry to hear about their misses. This will be addressed. The neighborhood is urban and I would always recommend not walking alone at nights anywhere in the City. That said we do have a 24 hr grocery store with Starbucks, loads of restaurants, bakery, coffees, bars, sports area, theater, museums four to six blocks away which is very close by for DC and metro/convention center four blocks with walking being the fasted way to get there. We also live in one of the best dining scenes in DC, Shaw/Mt.Vernon and the Country. See Zagat, Michelin. You can see the Capital Dome from our front sidewalk ...but not Russia from our back porch. But in all seriousness, we are the first residential area above Chinatown and hotels have fought really hard and long to get into our neighborhood and recently built three blocks south and at the Convention Center. We are not a hotel. We do not have TV's in every room. Re the deposit not being returned for two weeks, it was a $75 deposit and completely out of our hands. I do not find this to be a fair review.
