This tranquil and romantic little cottage, surrounded by our large fenced orchard garden, is set on the outskirts of St Georges village which has all amenities, in the midst of the Touraine vineyards, 6km from Châteaux de Montpoupon and 2 km from Chenonceau, 12 km from the mushroom caves at Bourré, 20 km from Amboise (Château et Clos Lucé home of Leonardo da Vinci) and 25 km from the mediaeval Royal City at Loches and the ZooParc de Beauval, come and stay in our romantic cottage for 2 near Chenonceau in the historic Loire Valley, visit the chateaux of the French Kings, taste the local wines, great restaurants. Our cottage is in a secluded and quiet situation in the garden at Vrigny with a private terrace. The cottage has recently been renovated with a new kitchen, refurbished shower room and romantic bedroom in the mezzanine. We are well equipped for gourmet chefs with a first class SMEG electric hob. We have bicycles for you to enjoy they extensive cycle routes and tracks across the vineyards and along the river Cher to Chenonceau or to St Aignan.
I am a private owner living in England but who loves France and the way of life. John and I visit the cottages several times a year to ensure all is going well and to have a lovely time there ourselves and with our family. I spend a lot of time painting while I am there and John looks after the maintenance. We are both retired doctors though when we bought the cottages we were very busy now we have more time to enjoy our lovely home. One of our fasvourite pastimes is to go to Chenonceau for lunch in the Orangerie a first class restaurant set in the chateau grounds with magnificent views of the castle.
Ann Palmer owner purchased this cottage in 1989
John and I bought this lovely farmstead soon after we moved to the south of England; we wanted somewhere for our family to visit within easy reach of home. We chose Vrigny as it is in the country but not isolated and it is close to Chenonceau our favourite chateau, it is central for visiting all the castles in the Loire Valley and also the vineyards, our local wines are so good and being so close to the vineyards we can participate in the vendange (harvest). We developed the property over the years; the 3 cottages are independent and you can enjoy your own space, there is also the advantage you will meet some really interesting people - or bring your friends and share two or three cottages together.
3 well equipped cottages all rented individually - 3 bedroom cottage with 2 en suite master bedrooms, one twin, a 2 bedroom cottage and a 1 bedroom cottage; sleep up to 16 people and can be rented as a whole or individual units. There is a large garden with fruit trees and lawns. We have baby equipment including cots. Each cottage has a fully fitted and equipped gourmet kitchens, luxurious bathrooms, beautifully appointed bedrooms with best quality bedding (we offer a linen service and cleaning). We are located in the village near the river and vineyards and offer wonderful walks and cycling A holiday in one of our cottages offers you a peaceful break with lots of interesting places to visit, a chance to taste the local wines and excellent restaurants nearby
The Barn is lovely and cosy with a good private patio. The bikes are an added bonus as there are many good attractions within easy reach. A great location and good accommodation. The pre-arrival information we were sent was very informative and detailed - very much appreciated! Thank you!
We got off to a bad start by forgetting to bring the directions for the house but the local florist and supermarket assistant went out of their way to be helpful allowing us to access the internet from their shop computer which quickly pointed us in the right direction; many thanks to both of these ladies!!
Good cycling country and a very pleasant local market with friendly stall holders. Went to Chenonceaux but very crowded so didn't go into the chateau.
The cottage was well equipped, comfortable and had plenty of attractive outdoor space. We brought our own bikes but the owner provided lots of well-maintained bikes for all ages.. a very nice gesture. The adjacent cottage was empty so we were able to enjoy the whole garden without interruption.
We would recommend this cottage to friends.
We stayed in "The Barn". The Cottage is small but is very well equipted with Dishwasher, Washing machine, Microwave, TV, DVD Player, Radio, etc. There are also plenty of bikes.
The village does not have much too offer, so a car is needed, even to get fresh bread in the morning.
The area is very quiet with plenty of space to sit outside.
Lovely little Barn conversion, ideal for a couple. Not overlooked and felt very private even though there is another cottage next door in the compound. Very well equipped with everything we needed. Oodles of instant hot water for everything. We were only there for five days, three of which were quite wet, so the underfloor heating was much appreciated as it kept the house warm and dry. Just beware of leaving your wine boxes on the floor or you can end up with mulled wine!
Some nice walking even round the back roads up the hill, a more interesting route into the centre of St Georges than along the main road.
The Chateau de Chenonceau is a comfortable 50min (just over 4km) walk away.
We also took the train from Chenonceau to Tours for Lunch, leaving the car at Chenonceau station.
The owners were very welcoming and provided lots of useful information, both written and verbal.
Wish we could have stayed longer. It would be nice to try in summer when the terrace could be experienced, Would definitely come again.
Many thanks,

We had a great time here. If you like walking and cycling then it's definitely for you. If you like to walk out for dinner then there's not many choices, but the BBQ is a good option!
The cottage is very pleasant and has everything you need.
Lots of things to do in the local area, but you need a car.
Recommended.
We stayed for a week in The Barn. Well-equipped comfortable, cottage for 2 and everything worked well. Peacefully situated in an excellent location for exploring the Cher and Loire valleys. The information pack provided by the owners after booking allows you to tap into their local knowledge and the information on places to eat and, also, of local wine-growers, is particularly helpful.
We are situated in the heart of the Loire Valley chateaux (castles) region just 4 minutes drive from Chenonceau.
