My husband and I moved to Dubrovnik 12 years ago. This house belonged to his great-grandfather and has been kept in the family for 5 generations.
Rebecca R. purchased this apartment in 1898
This apartment is located in an authentic stone family house, that has been home to our family for more than five generations. Recently renovated kitchen and bathroom provide modern convenience, while retaining the authentic charm of our family heritage. This apartment has been open to guests since 2011.
Even though this apartment is just 3 minutes away from the Old Town and beaches, it still feels very private and quiet in the evenings. Shops, restaurants, banks and bus lines are just a few metres away, and reserved parking (always hard to find in the summer!) is an extra plus.
We have just returned from our stay in Dubrovnik, the apartment was smaller than we anticipated but it was very local to all the amenities. Three minute walk from the old town, restaurants, market and bakery. The apartment is one double bedroom which has two single beds together, there is then a small landing outside the bedroom at the top of the very steep stairs , this is where they show the second bedroom, but it is not private and certainly not suitable for small children under 12. It also states a full bathroom but it is a small shower, toilet and basin off the even smaller kitchen. The kitchen contains a fridge freezer, microwave, one plate hob and dishwasher. The washing machine which is in the shower room was not usable. This is fine for a couple or with one or two 12 - 16 year old children but certainly for four or five adults it would be a tight squeeze.
However the owners were friendly and helpful and make you welcome, they organised a car to pick us up from the airport and to take us back at the end of our stay. We enjoyed Dubrovnik and the various trips and places outside we visited.
This is a great little apartment to use when visiting Dubrovnik. Hubby and I stayed here for 3 nights in late September when the Dubrovnik weather was still very hot - but evenings on the terrace cooled us down. The apartment also has a/c in the main sleeping and living rooms. The stairs to the master bedroom are a bit tight, but you get used to them, and they well lit with lots of railings to hang on to. I wouldn't recommend this apt for very large (or very tall) people, nor elderly travelers. We found the apartment suited all our needs and was well located for getting around town. Groceries, bakeries, restaurants, souvenir shops are all within walking distance. We enjoyed being able to cook some meals and wash our clothes at the apt also. Overall we enjoyed our time visiting Dubrovnik, it is truly an undiscovered gem of a city! Rebecca was very efficient in responding to all inquiries prior to our arrival. Once we arrived in town, Vido met us at the cable car station and even helped park our rental car for us! Then he assisted us getting our luggage down the stairs to the apt ~ Many Thanks again Vido!! We would definitely stay here again when visiting Dubrovnik. Thank you for everything! :)
Everything about the apartment, the location, the owners-Vido and Rebecca was fantastic. Rebecca responded very quickly to our request to book and was ready to help out with suggestions on what to see and do. Vido arranged for us to be met at the airport and driven directly to the apartment-our home for 8 days. It is charming with a lovely terrace draped with grapevines overlooking the town walls, Adriatic and Lokrum Island. The apartment has been in the family for a number of generations and is furnished with family antiques and pictures. It has been thoughtfully equipped with all you need to self cater. We loved being able to wander down the stone steps between the old stone houses to the nearby market and bakery. Continuing only a few more steps you pass through the Ploce gate to the fortified town of Dubrovnik. Each and every time we strolled along the streets we couldn't help but grin and marvel at the history that surrounded us. It is all so accessible from the apartment. Vido helped arrange for a rental car to explore the town of Ston and then continue up to our next destination in Split-it was a better price than what we had arranged prior to travelling. He also made a number of recommendations of things to do and when to do them. Following his advice, we spent our first day taking a 10 minute ferry from the Old Port (5 minutes from the apartment!) to Lokrum because it was a sunny, warm day-perfect for swimming in the swim hole located there. The following day was windy with dramatic clouds and the sun breaking through-once again, Vido had recommended waiting for this sort of day in order to walk the walls of the town to get much more dramatic photos. He can arrange for a neighbour to help with any tours you may want to take. We did not know this in advance, so had booked a full day van tour to Montenegro which did not have a good guide. Banje Beach is also only minutes away and it is quite unreal to be floating in the Adriatic looking over to the nearby walls of Dubrovnik. Also from the Old Port you can take a 45 minute ferry to the quaint seaside village of Cavtat...one of our favourites. Vido suggested where and where not to eat. Take advantage of the knowledge that Vido and Rebecca have to make the most of your stay-they are warm, generous and helpful hosts. Thank you both for making our trip so memorable. Dubrovnik is a magical place and the apartment perfect!
Ideal location to explore Dubrovnik, only 5 minutes walk from the East gate. Car parking huge bonus. Rebecca was a great host, keeping us up-to-date, giving us us clear directions, excellent restaurant suggestions, etc. The house has great character and is well equipped, sadly we didn't stay long enough to use many of the facilities. I would definely recommend to anyone, although people with young children or mobility problems might find access to sleeping area hard.
The apartment is a great place to stay while touring Dubrovnik. It’s conveniently located with a bakery and supermarkets nearby, a 5 minute walk to Ploče Gate, a 2 minute walk to the cable car and situated in a quiet ‘local’ neighborhood. It’s very clean, has comfortable beds and has a lovely terrace. The unit is as shown in pictures/advertised. The unit is 2 stories with beds upstairs and the main living area on the main floor.
The owners are very helpful and friendly (answering questions, making suggestions), attentive to ones’ needs (they arranged for us, a ride from the airport to the unit (and met us there upon arrival)) and live a short distance away should you require anything.
(We are 2 adults). We enjoyed our stay in the unit and would do so again, if the opportunity arose.
I felt like I was really staying in the heart of Dubrovnik with winding stairs leading down to the nearby entry gates of the walled town in a few minutes. Even inside the apartment there were interesting stairs and lovely antiques. After reading the history of the structure, it gave all new meaning to each room.
I loved the terrace - so peaceful with bunches of grapes hanging down and a line to dry our suits and towels. The beds were super comfortable.
The host, Rebecca, and her husband met us in town and helped us with our luggage. He parked our car for our stay, and that was great, because we didn't need it. Everything was within walking distance. Dubrovnik was so enchanting, we didn't want to leave. This place really cast a spell on us! Can't wait to return.
Just steps away from Dubrovnik Old Town and beach. Easy walking distance to all the most popular attractions, restaurants, shops and buses.
