Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday barn in Treen - The Shippen

2 king-size doubles, 1 en-suite, 1 bathroom including spa bath

Formerly a cowshed on what is still a working organic dairy farm The Shippen has been tastefully renovated to provide very comfortable accommodation in the heart of Treen.

High ceilings, exposed beams and wall ties help retain the barn's character. Whilst slate floors with under-floor heating as well as full oil-fired central heating add a modern touch.

The latest addition of a morso multifuel stove, with all fuel included, will ensure a cosy atmosphere.

Accommodation includes 2 double bedrooms (with king-size beds), 1 with en-suite shower room and digital TV, and 1 with bathroom adjacent incorporating a spa bath.

The Shippen has a sofa bed in the lounge and so can accommodate 1-2 more people; alternatively a temporary bed can be used in the larger bedroom.

The light and airy family space includes a fully fitted kitchen with washer/drier, fridge-freezer, microwave etc.

For those ‘not so sunny’ days there is a 30' fully digital TV with video/DVD player, several videos, DVDs, games etc.

Outside is a private and secure 'suntrap' terrace with seating, outside dining and a barbecue.

All towels and bed-linen are included (except beach towels) as is electricity, oil and stove fuel.

There is off road parking for 2 cars.

Chicken / cow friendly dogs are welcomed.

Please note that adult supervision of children is required on the farm at all times. You are welcome to come and watch the milking and help to pick up the eggs! - fresh pasteurised organic milk and eggs are available from the farm daily.

There is good disabled access as there are no steps into or stairs inside the property.

Out of season short breaks available.

Perfect cottage

  • 5 of 5

The Shippen is absolutely perfect. Paula and Chris have provided everything you could possibly want to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Beautiful location, fresh eggs every day, loved the bathrooms with underfloor heating and the log burner which kept it cosy. Loved waking up to see the chickens and cows. Having The Logan Rock pub on your doorstep is a bonus with friendly staff and amazing food. Highly recommend both! Hope we get to return to The Shippen sometime.

  • 5 of 5

I have visited the area and stayed for the past 8yrs but this is my first stay at this lovely cottage. This is by far the best cottage I have stayed in. It is clean, decorated and finished to a high standard. I was made to feel o welcome and would highly recommend to anyone. I will be looking to book again next year!

Right at the heart of Treen

  • 5 of 5

The Shippen is a lovely, comfortable place to stay for a family holiday, right at the heart of Treen. Lots of character, very comfy beds (perhaps too comfy),luxury bathrooms and a sunny courtyard all add up to make for a very relaxing holiday.Top that with amazing fresh eggs and milk and the nicest people you could wish for, to look after you and you are guaranteed to have a very happy stay.

Lovely Character Accommodation.

  • 5 of 5

Our stay over Christmas was made even more special by the effort the owners had made with flowers, fruit , fresh farm eggs and milk and even mince pies after our long journey. The accommodation is always immaculately clean and the facilities are perfect for self catering. Especially welcoming was the Log burner which was supplied with ample amounts of fuel. Very relaxing and cosy after a day out in the fresh air. The bathrooms are provided with lots of fluffy towels (great if the weather catches you out ) and both have under floor heating which is a real treat in Winter. There is an additional area outside the property which can be used for eating out or just relaxing watching the chickens. It is a working farm so ideal if you have a love of animals. If you are lucky during your stay it is especially lovely to see new born calves and baby chicks.

The accommodation has private parking outside so it is ideal if you have lots of luggage, beach equipment etc.

The location is perfect at anytime of year if you love the sense of open space, with beautiful cliffs and beaches very close by . The coastal path is great for walking and now has the added attraction of Dartmoor ponies who's grazing is helping to manage the scrubland areas.

Super Barn in the heart of Treen

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on this lovely working farm. The Barn was very comfortable and extremely well equipped, converted to a high standard. The owners are very welcoming and keen to ensure all is provided for. The pub over the road is great and the walks along the cliffs are stunning. Overall, I would strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for a getaway in a lovely part of Cornwall.

Beautiful and clean cottage and very nice landlady/landlord

  • 5 of 5

We have been in Treen two years ago and were therefore familiar with this tiny and quiet village. There is a sandy beach in a walking distance, the Logan Rock Inn a nice pub serving good food, and last but not least the Treen Café where you can get fresh bread, jam, marmalade, and small snacks. The surrounding countryside is perfect for taking walks.

The Cottage is well furnished, entirely equipped and very clean. We were welcomed by Paula, the landlady although it was almost 11pm when we arrived. There were some cake in the kitchen and fresh eggs in the fridge from domestic production. Paula allows us to move the furnishings as we like; of course we had to rearrange it before departure.

Chris, the landlord has shown all of us but especially our fourteen years old daughter the farm, explained what his work is and what he and Paula are doing with the cows, the calfs, and chicken. Our daughter was welcomed to visit the animals at any time. Besides the livestock there are four wild ponies close to the Cottage which are in Paula's and Chris' care.

During our two weeks stay we went for walks, went swimming and made some excursions to the surrounding towns and villages where you can find signs of historical events, lots of art galleries, excellent ice cream, beaches and very nice people.

By and large our holidays were really relaxing and exciting.

We can recommend this Cottage without any reservation!

PS: I am from Germany and therefore not native. I apologize for any mistakes regarding grammar and punctuation. Enjoy your next holiday.
