Wonderful location and property
Beautiful view of the water, lots of space, comfortable layout for a large group. Not really convenient to the beach/water but we knew that. We would definitely stay here again.
Everything was perfect. This was a great place for relaxing and looking at the beautiful view of Puget Sound.
Quiet, spectacular view, so much room you literally get lost in the house!
Great stay with 3 generations
We had a great time at Passage House. Enough to do in the surrounding area for the grandparents and the kids. Ananda farm nearby was a real treat. The beaches are all rocky and the one accessible from the house is pretty tricky to get to and not easy for little ones or old ones as other reviewers have noted. The game room was great for the kiddos (3 years and 6 months in our case)
Great House with great views but no realistic beach access
Our rental was very nice - large with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths-great for a large family. It was well-equipped and let everyone have their own space when needed. The view of the water and Whidbey Island was great. It was quiet and relaxing, and we could watch the boats go by. A game table was shown in the listing, but it was not there when we got there. This was disappointing since we had 2 little kids as well as bigger kids who would have enjoyed the air hockey, etc. There was no access to a washer and dryer due to limitations of the septic system. While we understand the reasoning for this decision, we feel that we could have at least had access to the dryer to be able to hand wash items especially with small kids. I suppose the biggest issue was access to the beach. It was billed as a short walk, and we assumed the .2 mile distance was all the way to the beach. But it was only the distance we had to walk on a relatively busy highway with 2 little kids. We were later told by a neighbor that we could drive part way even on the private road. We then had to walk down what appeared to be a private driveway to a relatively narrow, steep, and slippery walk to the beach. This trek is fine for young people, but it is a hard walk for seniors and especially young children. A neighbor told us of a slightly less treacherous way to get to the beach (turn right instead of left at the beach sign about halfway down the hill). On our way up, we were approached and told that we were on private property. And for the majority of people who do not live with ocean tides, it would be nice to tell us not to go to the beach at high tide. We had to go twice just to get on the beach. We had hoped to be able to take the two little ones down to the beach everyday, but this was not possible given the distance and the trek down. We did have a great time watching all the fireworks on the 4th and just sitting around and visiting.
The view is beautiful from this home and relaxing watching the sun go down was a perfect end to the day.
The beach is a short walk away but down a steep hill, which could be a problem for young or elderly.
We spent our weekend cooking great food and playing board games.
