Villa Gelderhof has been our Spanish home since 2005. It is located 4 miles inland (north) from the Mediterranean Sea on a sloping hillside which offers stunning views of both the lakes of Torrevieja and the sea as well as cooling breezes throughout the day.

Having 3 double bedrooms with a further twin bedroom in the underbuilt it is an ideal summer or winter holiday venue for up to 8 adults.

On the first floor (one level up from the road ) you will find a huge open plan living/dining room furnished in a traditional yet modern Spanish style. Centrally located is a log burning fire place, which adds to the cosey atmosphere during those cool winter evenings. There is a modern wide screen TV, DVD payer and a large selection of CD's and DVD's as well as 2 comfortable 2 seater and one 3 seater sofas. Adjoining to the kitchen we have placed a table and 6 chairs. Alongside and accessed from the living area is the master bedroom with a regularly sized double bed, en-suite shower, wc, bidet and twin wash basins.

The kitchen is fully equiped with an electric oven/hob, dishwasher,

coffee maker (Senseo and convential equipment), an American refrigator with ice making facilities, instant hot water, dish washer, air fryer and plenty of storage space.

The bedrooms on the first and 2nd floor, the living room and kitchen are air conditioned

A marble staircase leads you to the 2nd floor where you will find 2 large double bedrooms with an en-suite shower, wc and wash basin cabinet. The windows lead you out onto a huge balustraded balcony offering fantastic views of two inland lakes and the Mediterranean Sea not far away. Both bedrooms are independently air conditioned.

Back on the first floor the front door and the opening windows gain access to a large upper terrace with outside dining facilities and further down a fully equiped outside kitchen as well as a 6 persons jacuzy viewing the 8x4 m swimming pool and large surrounding terrace with sufficient sun loungers, occasional tables, BBQ grill and sunshade umbrellas.

On the ground floor (road level) there is undercover parking for 1 car. An electric sliding gate gives access from the road and an added level of security.

An alarm system linked to a local security firm provides automated security for your stay The villa is not wheelchair accessible.

As the villa faces south you have sunshine flooding the terraces and pool all day, but cooled by the prevailing south westerly breeze which springs up most days around noon and dies down early evening. Perfect for staying outside allday.

The house is ideal for golf players. La Marquesa golf club is just half a mile away and numerous other courses are located within 10 miles of the villa. For families with children there are two water parks approximately 1 mile and 8 miles (Torrevieja) which will keep the children happy. And of course there are miles of fabulous sandy beaches between Guardamar and La Mata offering varied sports opportunities, plus numerous beachside restaurants and actual beach bars serving chilled beverages and local delicacies (tapas). So you can say great fun for children and adults and all just 4 miles from the villa. Nevertheless it happens that families stay in the villa just because they find here all they want for a perfect holiday.

The villa is located in Ciudad Quesada ( Quesada Cituy named after the founder Senor Qesada) is a relatively new urbanization created about 50 years ago and now includes hundreds of villas, apartments, town houses, shops, supermarkets, banks and estate agents plus a huge variety of restaurants serving all manner of international cuisine, gymnasiums, sports facilities incuding tennis courts, bowling alley, cycle hire and a crazy golf course. Of course there are also numerous tapas bars and cafes to be found throughout Quesada for whenever you are in need of refreshment.

Whatever you want from a holiday we are sure you will enjoy the delights of our lovely Spanish villa, the surrounding countryside and the attractions.

The part of Spain where our villa is located is not very touristic in nature but more like a region where Spanish people live alongside citizens from many European countries looking for a warmer climate to live or retire. This invokes a very cosmopolitan feeling with a healthy mixture of languages, tastes, restaurants and bars, and many service businesses that cater for foreign residents. English is widely spoken.

While the immediate costal areas are highly populated and geared up for the tourist industry, once you move a few miles inland, it becomes quite rural and scattered with small towns and villages. Slightly further inland, about 20 to 25 kilometres from the sea you come to a low mountain region.

Driving through this rugged terrain you enter a verdant plain where fruit and vegetable farming predominates along with the famous vineyards around Jumilla where you can do a wine and tasting tour.

Naturally walking and hiking amongst the hills is a very popular pursuit for the fit and healthy but it is also where you can get a real taste for rural Spain and experience their culture while also sampling their delicious cuisine and local spcialities, not forgetting the local wine.

Within 15 kilometres of the villa there are approximately 15 golf courses which as well as being members they do welcome pay and play guests. They will also provide clubs, golf carts, buggies and whatever else you might need to ensure all your needs are met so that you can have a great game of golf, only limited by your own skill level.

Tennis courts are available in Quesada and there is a tennis centre at Alghorfa with gravel courts about 10 minutes drive away. Here they also have 2 Padel courts.

Of course being so close to the sea ensures plenty of opportunities to go to the beach. There are miles and miles of beautifull fine sandy beaches along the coastline the closest being at the little old resort town of Guardamar de Segura. This is really beach heaven for sun, sea and sand lovers with about 5 kilometres of the softest sand from Guardamar to La Mata. Small pup up bars are found every 400 or 500 metres providing music, tapas style snacks and drinks and also have sun beds for hire under fixed tropical umbrellas. Perfect for a relaxing day by the sea.

For the children the huge inflatables which bring them just off the beach are a perfect escape. While local stores sell all manner of beach essentials.

Closer to home and all within a kilometre you will find a children's aquapark with the usual slides and water features, cafes and gift shops. Down in Quesada village centre there is a crazy golf course, indoor bowling alley and a slots and games centre. While in the nearby town of Torrevieja there is a fantastic funfair every evening in summer months and yet another vast aquapark. For the ladies there is a huge shopping area "La Zenia" including a casino.

La Marquesa golf course which is just 800 metres from the villa is very popular amongst residents and visitors alike and is a full 18 hole facility. All equipment can be hired and there is a great 19th hole with a restaurant, terrace and chill lounge. The course is quite flat on the front nine but is interestingly ondulating on the back nine. Just to put you in need of that cool pint of draught beer in the bar.

The ladies will enjoy the numerous markets which are held daily in the nearby towns and villages. These are a jolly affair with a wide selection of stalls selling a variety of food,artifacts, clothing, shoes etc. and plenty of thirst quenching watering holes, you get the picture.

Quesada has a huge variety of shops, banks,chemists, shops, bars and services including filling station, cyber cafe and estate agents. But the most important to you the holiday maker will be the large amount of international themed restaurants including many northern European but also a good selection of Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Latin, Italian & Greek. You will also find dozens of traditional Spanish restaurants and tapas bars in the villages around Quesada. All these villages take it in turn to hold their own fantastic Moors & Christians Fiesta's every summer

My wife and me are both in the seventies (born in 1944).

We were born in Holland and have used the house as the holiday home for us, the children and grandchildren.

We decided to stay in Holland during the summer months

July and August. That is why we have advertized our home

for rent during this period.
