About Emma McMillan & Mathew Bull
Mathew and I ( Emma) have lived in Pembrokeshire all of our lives. We have businesses in Tenby and Saundersfoot. We live approximately 10 minutes away from The Barn so are close to hand at all times. We have 3 children and have experienced all the local attractions (several times!) if any advice is needed!
Why Emma McMillan & Mathew Bull chose Tenby
This property is in one of the most sought after areas of Tenby. The fantastic location provides a wonderful, tranquil, rural setting whilst still being close to the beautiful beaches and all the other amenities that Tenby and the surrounding area has to offer. It is unique in that it offers a large enclosed garden and private parking for up to 3 cars - a rarity for Tenby! Perfect for walkers and beach lovers who like to be within walking distance of the cafes and shops! The perfect retreat!
What makes this Barn unique
We have lovingly renovated and furnished this property. It provides a luxurious retreat with good quality furnishings and all the mod cons needed to make your holiday really enjoyable. It is open plan with high ceilings, a large enclosed garden &patio, and plenty of parking ( a rarity in Tenby!)
Up to one pet allowed.
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date. 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
We have stayed in many properties in the area over the years but this one is our definite favourite. It is very well equipped, stylish & comfortable with plenty of space inside & out. It’s location is both quiet & just on the edge of town, close to shops, beaches & everything you could ever want. The enclosed garden is safe for children & pets alike so a real holiday for everyone. The parking spaces are a big bonus too, never having to worry about where to put the car after days out. Everything we wanted was provided in this stunning accommodation & we would definitely look to return here
Disappointing and disgusted
Well located and garden for the dog. Property Very tired in need of refresh. Carpets dirty. Pillows flat. Had to contact the owner as rubbish exposing dirty nappies was left out for 2 days. Owner came but left the rubbish in a bin with no lid so flies n stench outside my bedroom window. On last day I stripped the bed to find the duvet had a urine stain which is what I’d been smelling. Coujdnt reach coffee maker. Cobwebs down the wall. Lamps dusty never been cleaned. I sent photos to the owner and have an email to acknowledge the issues but they h ave refused to recompense us .. on this basis I would not recommend this property to anyone. Disgraceful.
Oh dear. As soon as we had been aware, we apologised to our guest for the mess the Refuse Lorry had left. This was a one off that shouldn't have happened and we resolved it immediately.
The duvets are regularly laundered and neither we or the cleaners could find any trace of urine (!) or unpleasant smell. New duvets are now in both king size rooms for the new season. Had we been made aware during their stay that the duvet was not to the satisfaction of this guest we would have willingly changed it.
It is unfortunate that our guests height restriction prevented her from reaching the coffee maker. Had we known we would have provided assistance.
It is unfortunate also that the duck down pillows were too soft to accommodate our guests arthritis. Again, had we known we would have changed them for her. We have now added spare firmer pillows so that our guests will have a choice.
It is unfortunate that the small carpet stain under the rug in the master room spoiled our guests stay. The carpets are cleaned regularly ( lastly on 14th May 2019.)
As for the property being tired, the photos were taken in February this year and are a true and up to date reflection of the Property.
We are more than happy to do whatever we can to ensure our guests have a lovely stay, but unfortunately in this case, the issues were only brought to our attention the day after the guests left, along with a threat of a negative review if compensation was not offered.
We appreciate our guests comment about the good location of the property and thank her to please never visit our beautiful property again.
Lovely "shabby chic" cottage on a hill
We really enjoyed our stay at The Barn, it's a lovely cottage with plenty of room and only 10 minutes from the beach and town (albeit downhill and uphill!). The weather was glorious and the thick stone walls and slate flooring kept the house cool; it was lovely. The one downside was the fact that the reception for the camp site was at the bottom of the road past the Barn - everyone had to pass the Barn (down and back) in order to register there, making the garden not very private to sit in. Unfortunately, most campers thought the Barn itself was the reception and they would stop their vehicle at the side of the house to look over the fence to ask, or some people even came into the garden and up to the door to enquire. Better signs are needed, making it clear which house is the reception - although that would not stop the constant traffic... Still, a great holiday was had by all.
Thank you for your review. I’m pleased you enjoyed your stay. Good news.... the reception for the campsite has now moved to the top of the site and is clearly signposted, so there’s will be no more disturbances or lost passers by!
Great house, great location...
We had a wonderful stay at The Barn and would certainly recommend it. It had everything we needed - including cot and high chair - and the beds were extremely comfy!
Excellent holiday cottage conveniently located
We (2 adults, 2 kids 11 and 12 plus dog) had a fantastic stay at this cottage. It is right on the coastal path, 10 mins walk to Tenby North beach (great family beach, but no dogs). We walked into Tenby and back each evening for dinner and had some great meals. The cottage is a good size and nicely decorated. Beds very comfy. We only ate breakfast here so can't comment on kitchen equipment. We used the hot tub most days. You had to plan ahead as it took 3 hours ish to heat up. Pictures on the website are accurate and owner responded quickly to my emails. Only minor niggles - one of the toilet seats was broken and there were very few glasses, although lots of wine glasses! We would definitely recommend.
Welcoming, peaceful retreat in stunning convenient
The Barn is a wonderful place to stay, it offers a beautifully decorated, clean, well equipped and relaxing living environment as well as an extremely attractive and peaceful setting very close to Tenby town.
The owners were extremely helpful and quick to respondwhen we contacted them about extra towels and have made every effort to make the cottage a lovely place to stay.
The parking and proximity to Tenby is a rare and valuable bonus as the town is lovely but busy. At the barn you can have the best of both worlds as truly fantastic walks as well as easy access to shops and restaurants are readily available.
We would heartily recommend this property to anyone without hesitation and very much hope to return some time in the future.
