About the property

Oak framed 2 Bedroom newly built Cottage overlooking lovely gardens and lake

The cottage has an open plan kitchen living area on the ground floor, with a well equipped kitchen including dishwasher and microwave, and a seating area including two sofas and large TV. There is a twin bedroom on the ground floor as well as a toilet and shower room. The entire upstairs floor is an en-suite double bedroom with separate seating area, sofa and TV. The staircase is open to the ground floor.

The cottage is in the landscaped grounds of Nell House, with a large decking area, with BBQ, overlooking the lake and surrounded by wildlife such as moorhens, ducks, fish and if you're lucky deer and a kingfisher.

There are extensive grounds including a croquet lawn and fields with farm animals.

Idyllic Nell House

  • 5 of 5

Nell House is a totally idyllic stay, far enough from the hustle of big cities to feel tranquil yet close enough too many major attractions to be convenient. James and Jo were lovely, hospitable and helpful. The cottage itself is perfect for a family of four, including a little one. The surround is breathtaking, we loved listening to the sheep, cows, and birds while sitting near the pond and watching the moorhen chicks scurry around. We would love to return to the Nell House and take in more of the quaint villages that surround it.

Just what we were looking for....

  • 5 of 5

As soon as you drive through the main gate the setting is absolutely amazing.

We drove down the long driveway and first noticed the beautiful well maintained garden and pond, then the magnificent main house appears with it's typical Cotswold look. Just in front of the pond is the charming Cottage itself.

(I wish I had taken some photos for reference, as I draw as a hobby and it would make for a lovely home Portrait!!)

The Cottage was clean and well equipped even for those staying for a longer period.

We arrived quite late and our first nights sleep was not very comfortable, however Jo went out the same day and purchased "mattress toppers" for all the beds which made a big difference. James and Jo were friendly and helpful throughout our short stay which confirms exellent customer service.

We would recommend this property to friends and relatives and hope to return when visiting the area again.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay and we do hope you return. The mattresses are a challenge for us as people's tastes differ so much - what one client likes another dislikes. All the mattresses were replaced this year and now also have thick toppers which will hopefully accommodate all tastes.

Beautiful well equipped cottage in a good location plenty of places to visit within a hour.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is well equipped clean and very comfortable. Enjoyed a wonderful week with my daughter son in law ànd granddaughter. She lived to visit the sheep every morning in the field behind the cottage to say good morning.. Just be aware that there is quite a bit of open water around the cottage and children would need constant supervision. But saying that it is so beautiful . The owners who live on sight were very nice .

Beautiful house and grounds. Perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage, lovely grounds, lovely people, lovely area.

We had a great time at Nell House. Really enjoyed the surroundings at the property. So much so we spent two days just in the grounds enjoying the good weather, pond dipping and just chilling.

Not much to do in Hannington itself as this is pretty much the middle of nowhere which is just what we wanted.

There's lots to do in the surrounding area though and most things within half hour to an hours drive away at most.

Loved the crocodile place. Driving the decent roads around the Cotswolds valleys with little traffic and lovely scenery. The wildlife park was very good too. River Thames was within easy reach and the swan just down the road, as recommended by our hosts was a pretty amazing meal.

Would definitely return. Many thanks for a perfect holiday cottage.

The Cottage at Nell House is situated on the edge of the Cotswolds close to both Cirencester (the 'Capital of the Cotswolds') and the Cotswold Water Park.

Although situated in a picturesque quiet rural village, there are plenty of attractions only a short drive away.

The beautiful market town of Cirencester has lovely shops, restaurants, pubs and markets. There is also the Corinium Museum.

Fairford Royal International Air Tattoo is in July annually. It is a huge event and we are only a short drive or cycle away. As we are so close, you also get to see many of the planes without having to leave the garden!

Swindon Designer Outlet has a huge selection of designer shops and reduced prices. As it is inside it also makes an excellent rainy day excursion!

STEAM is situated next to the Designer Outlet and is a lovely museum detailing the history of the Great Western trains.

Westonbirt Arboretum has thousands of trees and some wonderful walks.

Lechlade-on-Thames has the unusual Christmas Shop, open most of the year, and the beautiful River Thames.

Stow-on-the-Wold is full of quaint tea shops and old pubs. There are lovely, individual shops there.

Birdland Park and Gardens is a good family trip. It is located in the picturesque town of Bourton-on-the-Water which is also home to a model village.

Cotswold Wildlife Park, near Burford, is a great day out. There is a brilliant giraffe house where you stand level with the animals' heads and can watch them eating.

The beautiful city of Bath with its wonderful architecture, Roman Baths, and fascinating shops is definitely worth a trip.

Chedworth Roman Villa has some beautifully preserved mosaics and is set in lovely countryside.

Burford town has some lovely old pubs, a beautiful river and shops.

Fairford is small but well worth a visit. It has a fantastic 15th Centuary church which is the only parish church in the country to have a complete set of late medieval glass.

The Living Rainforest is a lovely half-day trip. The variety of plants and birds is amazing and the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Oxford is a busy, vibrant university town. Apart from the large selection of shops and restaurants there is the Ashmolean Museum, the Bodleian Library, Oxford Castle (ruins), the Radcliffe Camera, the Oxford University Press Museum, University of Oxford Botanic Garden, the various colleges and churches, University Museum of Natural History, and the Bridge of Sighs, to name but a few!

Bristol is about 1 hour away. It has a large, out of town shopping centre, Cribbs Causeway, as well as 'in town' shops like Cabot Circus. Bristol Zoo is another favourite trip out and houses some gorillas. @tBristol is a fantastic hands on science museum.

Cheltenham is home to horse racing, as well as being a beautiful regency town.

Golf courses are plentiful in the area. The nearest is Wragbarn, but slightly further afield are Bowood, Frilford Heath, and the Oxford Golf Club. There is an unusual golf course in Minchinhampton, where you have to play while avoiding the cattle who have the run of the course.
