Amazing Stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with our son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren ages 11 and 14 stayed at this property for a week. We have rented in many areas of the world and this home/experience ranks in the top two. First of all the surroundings give a sense of serenity and peacefulness and are lush and gorgeous. Looking from the back windows or patio, you see a lovely pond and grove of trees that is breathtaking especially when the sun rises. The property itself has been expertly renovated while preserving a structure that dates to 1720. The decorating is very tasteful, in keeping with the history, but yet is comfortable with modern conveniences. It is a large space and accommodated the six of us easily. Exploring the area and small villages of Conde and Nonant on foot was great fun. This is an ideal location to explore the many delights of Normandy - Bayeux is a lovely town with an amazing Liberty Tree Light Show in summer. There are plentiful restaurants and shops and of course the 11th century church and tapestry. Two of our most special experiences were the cliff walks at Nez de Jobourg and finding a small secluded beach area along with visiting a castle under one owner for over the last 800 years. These were lesser known sights and off the “beaten track” but so worth the experience. Two things made this visit a five star PLUS. The first is their beautiful dog and three cats. As animal lovers, after a month traveling, we absolutely were missing our pets and it was much appreciated that we could pet and play with their animals. However, the owners are very careful to make sure they are respectful of individuals not liking pets and they are trained not to enter the residences or bother guests. The second and most important is the owner Claudia. She is gracious, warm and helpful. She and her family never intrude but are available for needed help or questions. Claudia knows the fascinating history of the castle and orangerie and invited us to their home for champagne one evening. She also had a bottle of champagne for us upon arrival..

This property is not to be missed and we hope to return in the future. I would highly recommend it for families or couples. A rare find - a five PLUS!

Great Normandy Base

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful spot to serve as a base for Normandy. We had four adults and 2 children - plenty of room, comfortable beds, lovely gardens. Easy 5-10 minute drive to Bayeux and another 20 or so to the D-day beaches. We took a day trip to Mont Saint-Michel which was very worth the one hour each way.

Somewhat tricky to find the location (it is too rural for google maps etc) but the hostess Claudia will email excellent directions. Would definitely return and hope to do so one day. If you are looking for a well located, private, roomy place to stay from which you can explore Normandy this is in an outstanding option.

Hidden gem

  • 4 of 5

Two couples sharing a spacious, pleasant apartment attached to an old chateau. Location to Bayeux was convenient but you need a car. Get very specific directions to find the location. Claudia was very helpful and provided a nice history of the property. Full kitchen, updated bathrooms and lovely furnishings plus a friendly house dog.

Amazing -wish we could have stayed longer.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment and property were perfect. Even better than we hoped for. It was so close to everything but set in the beautiful countryside of Normandy. Our host made our stay even more special as she shared stories of the castle over coffee one morning. We all highly recommend this property.
