Our property books Saturday to Saturday during peak season, if you have other specific dates, please email Becky. To give you an understanding of how we operate vacation rentals please see our other VRBO listing (#505916) "Boyer Beach House" located in Sturgeon Bay on Lake Michigan. As of July 17, 2018 our Beach House is 2nd when searching by #of people and pets as both our rentals allow your furry family member (no cats) and is 15th overall if you sort by reviews (all positive) out of over 400 Door County VRBO listings. We will run the Log Cabin just as well!

This is a newer construction 3 Bed/3 Bath Wisconsin Log Home on 40 wooded acres centrally located, in Egg Harbor, for easy access to all Door County activities. The home is situated on 40 wooded acres that has wide walking trails throughout the hardwood forest. In addition, the 155 acre Door County Land Trust - Oak Road Preserve is located directly across the road and offers almost 2 miles of walking trails. It's Awesome!!

Inside the home you will find 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, one on each level. Fully stocked kitchen with all items needed to prepare meals, large refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, gas stove and dishwasher. A full Washer and Dryer are located in the lower level with Central Air throughout the home.

There is a large great room with huge field stone fire place and covered porch just off the great room. Huge yard with fire pit. This log home is one of the best ways to experience Door County, close to everything but secluded and away from it all.

About Becky

About Mike and Becky

When thinking about this write up for VRBO we were surprised that our Door County story started almost 30 years ago. We first visited Door County to see about repairs for an outboard motor for an old Boston Whaler. (long story) During the brief visit we were amazed by the harbor towns, coastlines and rural open spaces. I remember saying “I thought this was only on the east coast”. Every Door County town has its own special charm and unique attractions and best of all, everything is so close that you can have a great Door County experience over a long weekend. However, there really is so much to do, without feeling rushed, we recommend at least a week stay every year for the next 30 years to fully appreciate Door County.

Our honeymoon was a 14-day trip around Lake Michigan on the same old Boston Whaler (motor repaired) our plan was to visit all the highly touted harbor towns on the Michigan side and then cross Lake Michigan, which I don’t recommend doing this in a 21-foot boat, spending the second half of our trip exploring Door County. That was only our second time in Door County, but our experience confirmed that Door County was a very special place; we found Door County exceptional. Numerous historic harbor towns in close proximity, 300 miles of varied shoreline of rock, bluff and sand, thousands of acres of State and County Parks on Lake Michigan (and Green Bay) and an iconic rural landscape.

After years of visiting Door County, we were lucky enough to find a small house in a unique location of Sturgeon Bay and have been renting this home to vacationers for over 4 years ( VRBO#505916). We have found this experience to be very positive and fulfilling by being a small part in helping people enjoy Door County. We have had such a positive experience that we decided to find exceptional homes in unique locations of Door County for vacation rentals. The Boyer Log Cabin is one of those properties (www.BoyerLogCabin).

Becky purchased this cabin in 2017

Why Becky chose Egg Harbor

The Boyer Log Cabin is located in rural Door County just a few brief minutes from Egg Harbor. Egg Harbor is the first harbor town after Sturgeon Bay on highway 42. It can be described as small and quaint and in our opinion, offers the best beaches on the Green Bay side. Just one block south of downtown Egg Harbor is the Village Beach that offers many amenities including an expanded playground, a small boat hand launch ramp, changing room buildings and walking paths. Another option is the Frank Murphy Park located 3 miles south. This park is 14 acres that includes a boat launch, walking path and sand beach. Egg Harbor is unique to have these two sand beaches as the Green Bay side of Door County is mainly rock shore.

What makes this cabin unique

This is an exceptional house in a unique location directly across from the Oak Road Nature Preserve just minutes outside the town of Egg Harbor. The Boyer Log Cabin is a newer construction Wisconsin Log Home offering 3 levels of living space, there is a bedroom and a bathroom on each level. It is a perfect option when travelling with a large family or a group because it affords a level of privacy that is not found with other vacation rentals. In addition, the outside space provides privacy from neighbors as it is set on a wooded 40-acre parcel. There are wide walking trails that meander through the hardwood forest of Sugar Maple, Beech and Birch. It’s a perfect location to explore Door County.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Communication and booking with Becky was easy and excellent.

The log cabin was easy to find, spotless and spacious. It was just perfect!!!

We enjoyed the outdoors...great patio furniture, awesome fire pit and many places on the property to walk and explore.

Inside was super clean and so much room for us all to spread out. The beds were great. We never turned on a tv. We only used the microwave/fridge in the kitchen and both were great. The Wifi was not as good as home but did the job.

Be ready with your bug spray for mosquitos. Also be ready for frogs on the doors/windows at night. One night after a rain, the one door had over 10 frogs on it. We LOVED seeing them and checking to see if they were there in the morning.

We saw many birds, many deer, a couple snakes, a beaver? and a wild turkey? on the property. the kids were super excited to see all of the wild animals.

We had so much to do within 20 minutes drive from the house. We really enjoyed our week up in Door County.

I highly recommend renting this cabin. If we head back to Door Co, I will make sure to rent this one again!

Becky's reply: Thank you for the kind words, Communication is Key!! Love hearing when people this its perfect! We do love how spacious our log cabin is, there's a floor for everyone (and a full bath for each!) yes, good old Door County Wifi, we try our best but it's just not like home. Glad it "did the job". The frogs make us laugh every time we see them, so darn cute! Thanks again, Becky

A true home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful week at the Boyer Log Cabin it was so hard to pack up and leave. The house is very warm and inviting with plenty of space. The first couple of days we were in the house, we had family visiting with us, and they all stated how beautiful the house was and how comfortable it was. The next few days we had as just us - me, my husband, our 16 month old son and our German Shepherd. Our son only started walking independently 7 weeks ago, so watching him walk the trails in the woods, and even down the long driveway, was a treat for us. We enjoyed making dinner at the cabin each night and breakfast most mornings. We used the charcoal grill available to us, and it worked great. We enjoyed a couple of campfires and enjoyed star gazing. It was so peaceful and secluded feeling while only minutes away from 'the action.' We were conveniently located to everything we wanted to do - and we went from Sturgeon Bay up to Washington Island and everywhere in between throughout the week. We really have no complaints about the property or the property managers - it was a wonderful experience, and I even go teary-eyed as we pulled away. Thank you for helping make our family vacation worry free and one to remember! We'll definitely consider renting this cabin again, and we'll recommend it to anyone!

Charming log cabin in excellent location.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the “wood house”, as my 21/2 year old grandson called the cabin. He was very sad to leave so I guess he enjoyed his stay! Nice quiet location but easy access to all the areas. Even our dog had a great time because there were great walking trails right from the house. Excellent for multiple families because each family can take a different level of the house and have some privacy as well as together time. Thank you Becky for letting us use your log cabin. We will definitely come back next time we need a Door County fix!

Owner's Response: Fantastic News! Your family is welcome back any time to the "Wood House"!! So glad you enjoyed our walking trails, hopefully you made it to the preserve trails across the street as well. Beautiful area that is for sure. I agree with you about the privacy on each level, one of the great features we love about our "Wood House", thank you again and look forward to hearing about your next visit! Becky and Mike

Up north feeling close to town set on pretty farm roads. Very comfortable bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms for a group of people. Great kitchen and a wonderful back porch and yard to relax and grill in. Peaceful spot with plenty of access to restaurants, wineries, local grocery store, parks, and more.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much Cliff! So glad you enjoyed yourselves, we think our setting is pretty as well! Away from the hustle bustle but close to the restaurants, wineries, stores..... Egg Harbor is getting a new brewery too and Shipwrecked finally opened after their fire. Great News! Although we think our porch is wonderful too, one of our goals is to screen it in! One project at a time though, hoping you visit again; as you are always welcome. Becky and Mike
