About Karla Harris
A am a total nature nut! I am retiring from flipping and this property was my final flip and I fell in love with it, so am keeping it. I hope all of you enjoy its charming uniqueness as much as myself! My family was poor farmers in IA; growing up and getting teased and not fitting in well during my school years, I said I will not be poor in my adulthood-took til age 50, but I am doing okay; Married 30 years with no children I think helps with that-no funding for colleges! I graduated from Hampton Community High School. I absolutely love all animals! I put up "self built" numerous bird houses and owl nests in my small grove of maybe 10 trees (3 young ones added). I hope my guests enjoy my place as much as I do!
Karla Harris purchased this House in 2016
Why Karla Harris chose Pine
I spent alot of time furnishing it with items of the era from the early 1900's since it is built in 1900 (added onto twice I believe since then) to include a player piano for you to enjoy I really have not seen any other rentals furnished like mine. The historic outhouse is still on site! The ambience of Pine Grove is very unique and very charming. People are friendly and it boasts tranquility and no light pollution to enjoy tons of stars and the milkyway. Lots of wildlife. Some have seen black foxes! Imagine snuggling with a book and the electric fireplace as you watch the snow fall with such beauty all around; better yet, host Christmas or Thanksgiving here!
What makes this House unique
The tree bench swing was there and I remember sitting on it before I put my offer in on the property. Absolutely loved the "swing therapy". Then I decided to hang a hammock; I love the one at my primary residence. The views all around you are absolutely amazing especially if you walk up the road for maybe even just a half mile to feel the area-you won't be able to stop or turn around!

Very rustic cabin!
No WiFi and cell service- that was not disclosed in listing. A very small space for 4 adults- 2 of whom over 6ft- we had to duck every doorway and threshold. Two great restaurants/bars close by that offered great service, wonderful food and drinks: Zoka’s and Bucksnort. Close to Conifer and Evergreen for places like Wildflower Cafe and Snowpack Taproom plus other great venues and amenities. Nice view but this cabin needs updating- could be a great place with a few minor changes.
Hello Stacie! I am bothered by this review because 3out of the 4 claims you have made seem "bearing false witnesss " &I would like to share why with hopes you will call VRBO &have it removed per the below esp after relooking at the photos &rereading the listing. I am hoping you were just having a bad day when reviewing as I feel it is unfair to me :(:
Regarding Wfi: We have totally disclosed under amenities (wifi is unchecked)--did you see this? and in my description, the first point I state for all my listings is "PLEASE LOOK AT ALL THE PICTURES AND READ ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE BOOKING!!! We want you to be fully informed and have a wonderful/uneventful stay with us!" As you read further, it states "There is no internet available inside my cabin, but there is wifi (no password necessary) inside and right outside the library which is like 2 blocks away (outside benches/chairs are there); also, there is a hot spot right out by my light pole at 5th and Grove that may work. I am able to send/receive texts from the farthest east facing window sill to the south." I also state "Cell service can be spotty. I have Cricket/AT&T and it is pretty good for me especially with the phone resting on the dining window sill in particular but likely any of the east facing sills. I am able to send and receive texts from the window sill." Per the listing, I hope all this doesn't sound like we didn't disclose?
Per updating per "A very small space for 4 adults- 2 of whom over 6ft- we had to duck every doorway and threshold": Are you aware that in the early 1900's, cabins were constructed very differently than from today&all of this is part of the character/charm I boast.Did you see I stated 1150 sq ft also? I state under additional things to note: "Nestled in Mountain Awe, is our rustic, 1900 historic cozy cabin in the middle of Pine Grove (population is like 150!). We boast as much authentic character as we can" (stated in VRBO's "Summary" and "the space"-so mentioned twice). Does this sound like it is modern/updated&that we didn't disclose? Bearing false witness is a sin; I hope U will apologize &call VRBO to rescind the review. Do my photos reflect "updated" with a hoosier, bed frames, furnishings, player piano, dining set, etc? We do have modern large appliances& new mattresses for comfort and convenience?? Also stated, "However, be aware that this sofa is very firm as back in 1910, they stuffed with wool-probably for a 140lb. person or less." What would Jesus do?
Karla’s Cabin is a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the nearby forest, and mountain scenery!
My husband and I plus my son and his wife stayed at Karla’sCozy Cabin for one week. The cabin has wonderful old time furnishings around Karla’s family history that are charming to see and read about. The beds are very comfortable. There is a full service kitchen with oven, refrigerator, and a microwave oven. We enjoyed sitting out in her yard under the whispering pines listening to the birds. It was so restful and peaceful! We had breakfast and lunch out on this patio area that included a table with chairs, love seat wooden swing hanging from the tree, a hammock and an open fire pit area. It was a wonderful get away for us.
ATM and groceries can be had in Pine Junction (at the stoplight junction at Hwy 285) about 6 miles up the road. Also a restaurant/pizza is located there and a hardware store. Laundry can be accomplished in my home.
If you fly in from CO Springs, it is 71 miles away.
