Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Saint Ives - 4 Ocean Breeze Apartments

2 bed, 2 bath, overlooking surf beach and Tate Gallery. Lovely apartment.

The double fronted first floor apartment is beautifully fitted through out and has excellent sea views from the master bedroom , lounge and kitchen. Away from the noise of summer crowds, the flat is a stones throw from beaches and shops. Situated just behind the Tate Gallery, there is a direct path to the famous surfing beach that takes just three minutes to descend from Ocean Breezes.

Turn right from the flat for a choice of routes to the many art galleries, restaurants and shops in the historic fishing port, a few minutes stroll. There are two other calmer, beaches within easy walking distance. Porthminster and Porthgwiden boast beach side cafes and restaurants with superb views and menus.

The main bedroom has a double bed and a generous en suite shower room. The second bedroom has a double bed and there is a seperate bathroom with hand shower. There are two toilets in the apartment. The lounge/diner and kitchen are set out in a sociable open plan. If you choose to cook the kitchen has everything you should need.

About Viv Perry

She was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, St.Ives Bay Hotel, 1980. We fell in love and have been returning ever since, first with our family and now just the two of us. Long before it was voted best seaside town, we knew St.Ives was a special place.

Why Viv Perry chose St Ives area

We looked at many properties over the years and this particular week end in 2007 we studied many apartments. The moment you walk into the flat the sunlight floods across you and the sea sucks you into its view. Sitting in the Bay window, watching the sea change constantly is a joy in any weather, and eating at the dining table feels like at the captains table. It was love at first sight. We go as often as we can out of season and still get excited packing the car.

What makes this apartment unique

Warm in the winter, cool in the summer, the flat is comfortable and relaxing. By late afternoon in the summer, the sun is on the small balcony, just enough room for two to enjoy the stunning sunsets. Elevated enough to give great views it is not too far from anything but far enough away from the summer holiday crush in the town. Like anywhere in St.Ives, parking is tricky. We do have an unloading area and a public car park opposite. Once parked we rarely use the car. Everything can be bought in town if you fancy cooking. Fresh fish can be bought from Trim and the local mackeral is a personal favorite. We enjoy eating outside and there are three lovely restaurants, one on each of the main beaches, as well as the harbour eateries, where you can have a slow lunch and watch the world on water go by. When the kids were younger is was a simple walk to the surf beach - close enough to nip back and get the wine and BBQ for a summer evening picnic on the beach. In the cupboard there are buckets and spades, fishing lines and bodyboards. Crabbing with the boys and digging sand rivers would take up hours of the day. Happy Days!

Lovely Apartment in a great setting

We stayed here for a week between the 13 and 20th August. The apartment is very well presented and has everything you would be likely to need as a home away from home. It is located a couple of minutes walk from the famous surfing beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There is a car park directly opposite (about £7.00 per day) but I would suggest avoiding using a car if possible as parking throughout St Ives is very limited. I would recommend this apartment as a peaceful location with a lovely view. The only potential disturbance (at present) comes from the St Ives Tate Gallery modernisation (directly next door) although this did not detract from our holiday.

Quiet, convenient location, lovely views

Enjoyed a two week stay at this nice apartment. There was construction going on then just across the street at the Tate but I never heard anything, even early in the morning. I loved the views of the sea from the large windows. Nicely equipped kitchen for simple cooking. The layout of the apartment with the glass doors separating the bedrooms from the living area is great for families. Location is perfect – very close to beaches, shops and restaurants but in a quiet residential area. Owners responded quickly to questions and the security deposit was refunded promptly. I hope to return to St. Ives and would like to stay here again.

Very nice and spacious apartment

We really loved our stay in this spacious apartment. It was our 9th vacation in Cornwall and the 3rd in St. Ives. This was clearly one of the best housings we had. I would recommend it to anybody.

The only drawback is that there is no direct parking available, but then again, if you do not plan to move your car, Barnoon parking is right opposite to it.

St Ives is the art centre of West Cornwall. Artists were attracted to the area from the 19th Century onwards. In the 20th Century St Ives became a haven for giants of British Modernism, notably Barbara Hepworth and Ben Nicholson. St Ives and the surrounding area is alive with an artistic heritage and sensibility found nowhere else in south-western England. The Tate St Ives offers constantly changing exhibitions as well as its remarkable permanent collection of art. The Leach Pottery in St Ives was established by Bernard Leach in 1920. One of the great figures of 20th century art, Leach played a crucial pioneering role in creating an identity for artist potters in Britain and around the world.

The town itself arcs around the harbour - the heart of the historic fishing community with the legacy of fishing boats bobbing in the harbour itself whilst families play on the beaches of golden sand, and explore winding cobbled streets, finding treasures such as the wide range of small independent shops, galleries, restaurants, pubs and bars, the St Ives Museum and The Tate St Ives. With the benefit of the warmth of the Gulf Stream, the area also enjoys a mild sub-tropical climate.

Year round, St Ives has the power to captivate and enthral. With a busy events calendar, the town is often buzzing with excitement from Feast Day in February (with the traditional hurling of the silver ball), to home-grown theatre productions, the St Ives September Festival, and the year ending with Christmas celebrations and the renowned New Years Eve event where fancy dress is nearly obligatory!

St Ives boasts a wide range of places to eat - from takeaways, cafe’s, to fine dining beach front restaurants. All bathed in the famous light that attracted artists for so many years.

4 Ocean Breezes is in the perfect location to enjoy all aspects of St.Ives. Perched above the surfing beach at Porthmeor, behind the Tate Gallery, it offers wonderful views out to sea. It only takes a couple of minutes to fall down the hill to the golden sand in one direction, the same in another direction for the pubs, restaurants and shops.

The famous train shuttle along the coast can drop you along the coast for a stunning walk back to St.Ives, resting at the Carbis Bay Hotel for refreshments. Our tidal clock will tell you when to head out for a low tide stroll.

Walking towards Lelant Salting will give you the choice of the Watermill Inn or Scarlets, before the train ride home.The train also connects to the Penzance to Truro line for connections to Isles Of Scilly or the Catherdral town.

A six mile cliff top walk along the South West Coastal Path in the other direction will bring you to Zennor, The Tinners Arms and an open top bus to St.Ives in summer months.
