Authentic riad - Exclusive - Marrakech Medina
average rating of 4.6 based on 15 reviews

The riad was exactly how it was described: superbly located, well presented, quiet, clean - everything perfect except for the rather unpredicatable WiFi.

The pièce de résistance, however, is Hafida - the best housekeeper one could possibly seek in such an exotic place. Her chicken tagine and crepes Maroc are magnificent but her overall desire for your visit to be successful makes the whole visit more than worthwhile and her ability to source services is superb: the trip to Essaouira she arranged for us was a definite highlight of our visit.

We had other stays in Ouarzazate, Rabat, and Casablanca - all superb in their own right but this riad in Marrakech was the star.

Authentic but with modern upgrades

  • 4 of 5

Beautifully redone and modern riad with a great location. You are in the middle of the Kasbah and just a short walk to the Médina and shopping. Walking through the narrow alleyways to the riad, we met many friendly children playing and mother doing their shopping. The space has spectacular tile work everywhere and was very clean. It was larger than expected Having four floors of living space. Hafida, the housekeeper, was very lovely and made breakfast. She would stop in every once in awhile to make sure all was well. Since we don’t speak French or Arabic, and her English was limited, we used a translator on the phone that worked out well. We never met the owners, however they did check in via email to make sure all was going well and Wi-Fi is spotty. All in all, we had a nice stay. Thank you

Lovely authentic Moroccan house in Kasbach Marrakesh

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed every moment we spent in Marrakesh especially due to very good accommodations at the Almoravide Riad. We have been there for seven days and Hafida has been an excellent host. She was very responsive and always with a big smile.

The house is almost too big for seven of us staying at the Riad. There are three bedrooms each with its own bathroom and two living rooms one on the first floor and another on the third floor with access to a terrace. Another terrace is above the second living room from where we could see the Atlas Mountains on the back and the surrounding buildings of Kasbach. The members of our group came from Chicago, Illinois and Oran, Algeria and our trip was a success. We certainly would like to return sometime.

Since we have been asked to give our review to help improve the experience for future travelers I would like to mention that the hot water on the master bathroom was only lukewarm and the towels might need to be replaced. The ones provided were clean but overused. Otherwise all was good: house was clean, beds were comfortable; breakfast was authentic and good; and the house was located near almost everything we wanted to visit in Marrakesh.

Thank you for having us in your home Rabia and Chris!

Just amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here! It was quite a bit more space than we needed, but it made us feel like we were staying in a palace. The property is so beautiful, with all the carved wooden doors, beams, and furniture. We just loved the dining area in the center where we could push a button to retract the roof, let the sun shine in and listen to the birds sing. The two terraces are great as well; one that is a bit more private, and the other on the roof with an amazing view overlooking the city. The location is perfect; just outside the medina in Kasbah which is far enough away to be quiet while the plaza is going strong and loud, but close enough to walk to everything that you want to see in the area. Hafida truly made the trip. It was hard for us to have someone come there to cook us breakfast and make sure that we are taken care, but she is so kind and eager to help make our trip in Marrakesh a memorable one. I wish that I spoke French or Arabic, as I know that the language barrier certainly made it harder for her to help us. I highly recommend letting her cook you at least one dinner. We love Moroccan flavors and were pretty disappointed with the food we found in the restaurants, but Hafida is an amazing cook. The tangine that she made for us was outstanding!

April 2017-Excellent Riad and in great location.

  • 4 of 5

We are a family of 5 (kids aged 13, 11, 8) and stayed for 6 nights in mid-April. We were extremely pleased with this Riad, it has tons of space to hang out and more bathrooms than we needed. We never had issues with the hot water for showers and hand soap was provided by all the sinks however, you do need to bring your own soap/shampoo etc for showering. The downstairs eating area is great and the retractable roof brings in so much sunshine. We were surprised to find a small bird who always managed to sneak in daily to sleep, the bird wasn't a bother and we barely saw it but it would've been nice to know of it beforehand. The bird never entered the sleeping areas or upstairs area. The riad itself is very clean and spacious and Hafida, the housekeeper (speaks only french/arabic), is a true gem and was just so amazing and very helpful. Our stay was great because of her hospitality. The wifi was poor but we were able to manage and also, the TV didn't work the whole time we were there. However, we didn't go to Marrakech to watch tv, so this was actually a blessing and I'm sure if we required it, it would have been fixed promptly. Linens and towels were provided and having use of the washing machine was amazing as we were on a 2 week holiday from Canada and didn't want to pack too many clothes. The location is perfect, in Kasbah(old medina) about 10 mins walk from the square and very close to other attractions as well. We were worried about getting lost and dark alleys on our late nights out especially with 3 children however, the Kasbah is busy late into the night and we never felt unsafe at the riad. Generally at night, we would be too tired to walk back to the riad from the square and spoiled ourselves many times with rides home on the horse and carriage and all drivers knew exactly where to go, you just have to say "kasbah' and they drop you right in front of the main alleyway. The riad is off the main street and the neighbors and people you see daily are very friendly and we made many new friends. The main street has many street food restaurants serving shwarma's, panini's, BBQ meats which were amazing and super cheap, better than some restaurants we ate at. The owner's, Rabia/Christophe are excellent at responding to emails and any inquiries that we had, we felt comfortable even before checking in. We also used their recommended taxi driver, Abd Samad, who was a safe driver for our transfer to/from Essaouria and a day trip to Ourika Falls. ****

Morocco was amazing and the Riad was a great base of operations.

  • 4 of 5

The Riad deserves a 5⭐️, totally authentic with a wonderful addition - Hafida. She was attentive to our needs, a brilliant cook and a great source of local knowledge. We used a law student - Taha - for our primary taxi driver. He was also a local advantage. Prepare yourself for a sensory overload, pictures of Morocco do not do it justice. Christophe was a great host, although not on site he did all he could through Hafida to make our stay at this property enjoyable.

We were unwell for 6 days or would have given 5⭐️'A
