Simple and spacious room in tranquil tropical forest with very comfortable deluxe king size bed ,has simple cooking top and cooler .private bathroom with on demand hot water shower.we are 18 mile from hilo beaches and Hilo airport and it’s shop ctr,same distance from volcano national park, we are located in kopua farm lot it’s 4.2 mile from highway 11 exit s kopua rd between 15 and 16 mile marker , and the bus stop so you going need a car , half the 4.2mile are paved county rd ,other half are serene gravel country rd, I have a Horizontal mounted surfboard with big number at entrances . the room is all the way at end of driveway, next on left side of bright yellow main house, it’s self is a big bright green building.key will be on the door,mahalo

Not as promised in the ad

The ad said that there was a kitchenette. In order to keep our things called we had to buy ice in town and put it in the cooler. There was no microwave and most importantly, the water in the shower would switch from hot to cold folks get burned with that hot water, There was no one available to answer questions.

Authentic Puna district experience

It’s pretty much as advertised. Rustic. But charmingly so. The coqui frogs at night are a great soundscape. Your kitchen facilities are in your room: a two burner propane stove, refrigerator is a large cooler and ice is provided. There’s a frying pan, tea kettle, and dishes, cups, and silverware. I chose it for the proximity to Kilauea. About a 25 min drive. I enjoyed it.

Rustic and primitive accomodations

If you want the absolute bare essentials look no further. This is a step up from the shacks in Waa'waa or Opihikao but there is little insulation so be prepared to hear every sound and footstep from adjoining cubicles. The property is serene but the actual accomodations are rustic and primitive. The shower pressure and temperature is sporadic at best and you have to keep adjusting the temperature as it's either scalding hot or too cold.

Das Zimmer ist wirklich nur etwas für Puristen. Es gibt keine Möglickeit, seine Sachen zu verstauen. Leben nur aus dem Koffer. Lebensmittel sind nur in einer kleinen Kühltasche unterzubringen. Die Kühlung der Kühlkiste läuft über vereiste Literfläschen, die regelmäßig über eine Gefriertruhe selbständig aufgefüllt werden muss, die auf dem Gang mit allen anderen Bewohner geteilt wird. Die Toilette ist lediglich über einen Duschvorhang im Zimmer getrennt. Es stehen Eimer zur Verfügung, falls die Löcher in der Wellbleckdecke doch nicht ausreichend ausgebessert wurden. Wir haben dann doch auf den Aufenthalt verzichtet und sein gleich wieder abgereist.
