About the property

A completely refurbished and handcrafted wooden chalet with a large terrace.

This superb chalet has been recently refurbished to give guests a highly enjoyable and comfortable stay. The large panoramic terrace has a breathtaking view of the Bevera valley.

There is one large bedroom with a bed that sleeps two, but a sofa bed can also be arranged. If you would like to come in a large group, a Mongolian yurt also adds to the uniqueness of the landscape and be rented for an additional fee. There is a shower room, WC, and small kitchenette. A large family barbecue can also be rented on request. And for the summer months there is an outdoor solar shower, as well as an extra outdoor kitchen also at your disposal. Just at the mouth of the renowned Mercantour National Park, the chalet is near major hiking trails and one even passes by the chalet. The sea and the beach are only 30 minutes away by car; those who prefer Old World charm will want to visit the town of Menton, while others may prefer the glitz and glamour of Monaco. Italy and ski stations are also less than an hour away.

About Christine Alfsen

Recently retired from a career as a civil servant, I decided to renovate an old family home. My house is next to the chalet.

Christine Alfsen purchased this chalet in 1980

What makes this chalet unique

The stunning views, the sunny location, and the variety of possible activities make this the ideal holiday spot. Mountain lovers, nature lovers, beach lovers, or just those looking for a quiet spot to reflect are all catered to here. Whilst the chalet has a pleasantly removed feel, you are no more than a short drive away to all sorts of exciting locations (Monaco, Nice, Italy, etc). The picturesque village of Sospel, with its famous Baroque church and fading frescoes, has also more than enough to charm holiday-makers with a vibrant village life and traditional restaurants. The property that the chalet is on has been landscaped with great care and attention to detail: the endless olive groves, the variety of trees, and the vegetable garden should please those who notice this sort of thing. The chalet has been built to be as energy-efficient as possible and to respect its natural surroundings, using ecologically-friendly materials such as bamboo, cork, and tamarack. The terrace however is its most priceless asset, ideal for eating a sunny and lingering breakfast or a romantic supper.

Sweetest little cabin, priceless views

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was absolutely the best find. If you truely want to get away from it all and relax in nature, this is the spot. Nestled on the mountain side with great outdoor space to relax and enjoy the view that goes on for miles. Christine was a gracious hostess and made me feel right at home. The cabin was very clean and had all the comforts of home plus more. The walk to/from town was very enjoyable and convenient. There are also hiking trails right from the cabin, which is very convenient. I stayed for a week and still feel like there was much more to explore. I would definitely recommend this place, and I would suggest no car. It was easy to walk everywhere, or grab the bus from town to Menton to have a beach day. I hope to make it back someday to enjoy this great cabin and area again. Thank you Christine for opening up your cabin and property to us travelers.

Charming chalet with panoramic views

  • 5 of 5

Christine’s little chalet lies nestled in the hills above Sospel, surrounded by olive trees and hiking paths. On Christine’s recommendation we decided to travel there without a car, which can be easily accomplished as there is a direct train from Nice central station (takes about 45 minutes) to Sospel. The journeys from and to the train station with our luggage were made possible by Christine’s friendly housekeeper, who gave us a lift in her car. The rest of the times when we were exploring the area we did so on foot: the village with shops, the station, bars and restaurants is a nice 40 minute stroll away and some of the area’s excellent hiking and mountain biking paths can be accessed right behind the house. The nicely decorated chalet itself is small but functional, with a large decked patio ideal for morning breakfasts in the sun and beautiful views over the valley. Très jolie!

Repos, balades, calme, spectacle nature !

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Merci Christine

Un séjour répondant à toutes les attentes

  • 5 of 5
