Give us a call--we love chatting about Homer, our cottage, about life, or whatever!
And welcome to Little Fireweed Cottage in Homer, Alaska! We strive to ensure that your experience at our cottage is one that stays with you forever. Whether you are in Homer just to relax and soak in the breathtaking views or here to dive into the multitude of outdoor activities this unique area of the world offers, we are confident that your stay at Little Fireweed Cottage will be one of the highlights of your trip.
Before we discovered the jewel that is Homer, we traveled around the world and stayed in many vacation homes along the way. We have taken many of those things, which we enjoyed the most when staying in those homes and have tried to incorporate them into our vacation rental.
Just recently built in 2006 on one and a half private acres, Little Fireweed Cottage was made to serve as a retreat and a home-away-from-home for those traveling for the 'Homer experience'. After a long day of fishing for halibut, sightseeing, or hiking, come home to cook up your seafood just the way you like it on the barbecue grill.
Pour yourself a glass of wine from one of our bottles on site and ponder whether it is time to melt away in the very brand new hot tub with its grand views or whether that should wait until after the movie you are going to watch on the flat-screen TV/home theater. If you're a night owl, there's always the fire pit up on the hill, with the swinging chair that turns into a bed.
We know that everyone has their own ways of doing 'vacation'. With that said, we believe that in whatever way you seek to find ultimate relaxation, Little Fireweed Cottage will serve you wonderfully in that endeavor.

My wife is from New Brunswick, Canada and I am from Palmer, Alaska. Growing up six hours away, in the Matanuska Valley, I always loved the opportunity to get down to Homer to visit my family there. Since a very young age, Homer has held a very special place in my heart. I have traveled to over 40 different countries around the world but I have yet to see a place that matches the majesty of Homer, Alaska.
Be sure to take a trip across the bay if you come all this way. It's really a wonderful experience.
Ailsa or Tyson Hall purchased this cottage in 2006
Ever since I was 13, it has been a dream of mine to own a piece of Homer. That dream came true in 2006! We were able to grab a great in-town lot with a wonderful view of Kachemak Bay! We built the cottage the same year we bought the land. We feel truly blessed!
The reason we got into Vacation Rentals is because we have stayed in many ourselves and like the idea of staying in a private home instead of a noisy, crowded hotel. As a result of those visits at various rentals across the nation, we came up with four very important qualities that we look for when booking a Vacation Rental and incorporated them into ours. They are, 1) The lodging must feel private, 2) It must be close to the town you are visiting, 3) It must have a HOTTUB!!, 4) If applicable, it must have a view. We are happy to report that we have checked all four of these boxes!! We are only two miles from lovely Homer, on almost one and a half private acres, with a great view that you can soak in while in the wonderful hot-tub!
We are proud of our cozy little cottage in Homer and are so confident that it will exceed your expectations and serve to be the retreat you need after coming all this way.
We had the best time staying here. The views are spectacular, the cottage is cozy and had everything we needed, and the hot tub was the perfect way to wind down at the end of the day.
If we are ever back in Homer, we will definitely stay here again.
This was a great place to stay! It had everything we needed, including laundry. We really enjoyed sitting in the hot tub. It's such a great view from the deck.
Loved the cottage. Nice location not far from downtown or spit and somewhat secluded with beautiful views. Tyson provided us some great ideas of things to do in Homer.
Given all the 5 star reviews, I was expecting this cottage to be in good shape and problem free. While the location, the views, the rooms and the hot tub were very good, we were extremely disappointed to find that the sectional couch was in terrible shape. The vinyl fabric on the sectional was worn, scratched and torn in several places. Given the fact that a small throw was placed over it to conceal it - it was clear that this is not something that had just happened to the couch during this rental season. Why such a cheap sectional was used in a rental that is almost always booked is beyond me. In addition, the refrigerator was not clean, the welcome book was out of date, with crossed off and written information and the hot tub instructions were so worn they were difficult to read. I am all for the natural look and beauty - but there is an outdoor seating area and fire pit that you can't find a clear path to because a path to it was not mowed. It is clear that the owners don't live nearby- thereby not noticing these very obvious problems. We love Homer and try make the trip from Anchorage every other year. Unfortunately, this is not a rental we will book again due tot he lack of maintenance/upkeep.
We're extremely picky - and don't often give 5-star ratings. LFC is the perfect place to relax after a long day of hiking, fishing or playing on Kenai. You are high enough on the hillside to see much of Kachemak Bay. It's beautiful. Trees, tall grasses - ideal for a moose cow to hide her twin calves. Keep an eye out for them! There's plenty of seating inside and out on the deck. It was too chilly for us to use the hot tub, but you could not ask for a better view to soak while sipping a little wine. It takes only few minutes to get to town or to the Spit. We picked up fresh salmon and halibut at a market on the end of the spit. That evening we had dinner on the deck. Loved every minute. The place was spic & span and the owner very responsive to our questions. Highly recommend!
My stay at this cottage was very enjoyable! The cottage was perfectly maintained, super comfy bed, great internet connection for watching Netflix at night, and a well-stocked kitchen. The view was beautiful. I was disappointed I never saw a moose at the cottage, but I did see them throughout Homer, and they were especially plentiful on the highway after a day trip to the city of Kenai. Also, saw many bald eagles along the Homer Spit, which was a great place for dining and shopping. I would definitely stay here again, if I make it to Homer in my travels again!
Incredible halibut and salmon fishing. 'There's no place like Homer'
