About this property

Luxury Space with Wilderness Views

Welcome to one of the best view accommodations in Cooper Landing! You feel as if you can literally touch the mountains with magnificent Mt. Cecil Rhode towering before you! Listen to the rushing river as the eagles soar above; a true 'wilderness experience' with the comforts of home! Your 'space' is the very private entire downstairs overlooking the Kenai River & majestic mountains! There is a separate entrance and you may never even know anybody else is around even though we live here as well. We'd love to meet you or, if you want to indulge in the serenity of the Kenai, we respect that. The full, newly remodeled kitchen is very well appointed with full size fridge, microwave, coffee pot and french vanilla creamer. The essentials are provided such as oil, salt and pepper and a welcome basket of fresh fruit, homemade muffins, oatmeal packs in addition to homemade Greek yogurt & berries parfait and fresh hard boiled eggs greet you! There's a private deck overlooking the river to lounge, bar b que grill and fire pit right outside your door for the option of enjoying the outdoors a little more. A small library stocked with Alaskana books for pleasurable reading is available, but we also have DirecTV and free wifi. You might find our huskies more entertaining! The host huskies usually greet you and will keep you company if you desire; they are all as happy to host you as we are! The king size bed has gotten rave reviews and the queen and futon are wonderfully comfortable as well. The bathroom is why we term this 'luxury'; with it's hammered copper sink and full glass, rain-shower water stream, it has been awarded 5 stars by our guests! Come experience "Kahtnu Spirit" to understand what the Dena'ina felt in this sacred land, after all, "Kahtnu" means 'Kenai' in the native language!

Cooper landing stay
Enjoyed it but really didn’t like the design where one couple had to go in the other’s bedroom to use the bathroom and one had to go in the other’s bedroom to use the kitchen

About the host

Hosted by Lorraine Temple

Host profile image
Lorraine has enjoyed the Alaskan lifestyle since 1984 as a dog musher and boat captain after graduating from UCSB and decided to head north for a 'road trip'; she found her passion and never went back! Mike grew up in Montana and decided to have an adventure in Sand Point, AK for a few years before heading back to MT to raise 2 wonderful boys. After about 20 years, his heart felt the call of the north and he returned bringing his carpentry skills with him. Together, Mike & Lorraine call this special mountain town, "home" along with Lorraine's ranch in Homer where she had her horses and dog team for many years. They have come to realize the joy in sharing this incredible place with others having their own unique adventures to Alaska which only adds to their every day joy.

Why they chose this property

This property is perhaps one of the most unique in Cooper Landing as it is a short stroll to the Princess Wilderness Lodge, but we are surrounded by a forest of spruce trees and aspen tress and you'd never know a lodge of that caliber was right next door! Summer guests can walk over for a beverage on their large deck or enjoy an expertly prepared meal in their dining room. We have bike rentals right on property with an assortment of mountain bikes and ebikes to get into the back country! Our view is spellbinding of the flowing turquoise water of the Kenai below and we enjoy a special hobby of looking for mountain goats with our spotting scope on the mountain. It's a shangri la in the Alaskan wilderness!

What makes this property unique

Incredible view of Mt. Cecil Rhode and the turquoise Kenai River! Close to Kenai Princess Lodge for dining and deck/bar overlooking river. Huskies to play with! Bike rentals on property and valuable source of information. Cleanliness is our signature specialty!
