About David & Jan Roberts

We love France , wanted to be in the country , yet near a village and the sea; and found the ideal location. The house becomes our home between travelling abroad. In the summer ,we like to share our beautiful location.

David & Jan Roberts purchased this villa in 2003

Why David & Jan Roberts chose Argelès-sur-Mer

In the summer , the house is divided into two completely separate apartments , with our guests enjoying the ground floor . The house stands in the middle of 3 hectares, with magnificent views of Les Alberes, rising to 1270 metres. Thus a peaceful holiday is possible , or one with lots to do.

We stay in the background, yet are on hand to help ensure an enjoyable holiday.

What makes this villa unique

The location , offering of country ,village and sea; attracts guests, many returning again ( one family 5 times! )

A beautiful villa with absolutely everything you could possibly need. The location of the villa means that there is sun and shade all day either at the front or rear. Fabulous pool again with lots of shade - necessary in July ! Travelled with daughter and son in law and 6 and 4 year olds and there was nothing we could have wanted that wasn't available. So nice to arrive with welcome pack that was enough for lunch for 6 including 3 bottles of wine ! 10-15 mins walk to village, 10 mins drive to local beaches and port where there are lots of restaurants. David and Jan were there if we needed them but otherwise it felt as if we had the villa to ourselves. Highly recommended and would definitely return.

A beautiful property, wonderful hosts, couldn’t ask for more!

  • 5 of 5

David and Jan were the perfect hosts, extremely friendly, full of information and went well above and beyond what we expected!

The house was immaculate, well furnished and the dishwasher is always a great addition to any kitchen. We spent many hours in and around the pool, which David cleaned and checked daily, and managed a few barbecues too. Sitting out on the veranda in the evening after a dip was a great way to cool down.

Argeles village is a lovely place to go to with all of the shops and bars you need, plus it’s only 3 minutes by bike. We were lucky enough to be in Perpignan on a Thursday night when they have free live music, comedy and theatrical acts in the old town.

A day trip to Collioure was lovely too, with it’s narrow streets and castle, beaches and restaurants.

All in all we had a fabulous stay and we would absolutely recommend this beautiful house and the wonderful hosts.

Large rooms, nicely furnished, great pool, vast land, 2 min from Argeles village. What a priviledge

  • 5 of 5

We had an awesome week with friends and kids.

Rooms are large, furnitures are of good quality. The pool is perfect. The land around is huge. The kitchen is super-equipped. We enjoyed the big barbecue and terrasses on both sides (one for the morning the other one for the evening). Kids loved the place as well.

We had great quality-time.

David and Jan were truly helpful and advised us to discover this beautiful region. We missed absolutely nothing.

I definitely recommand!

Beautiful property in good location

  • 5 of 5

We were four people - an older couple (who arrived from the UK by train to Perpignan then hire car) plus daughter and boyfriend who flew to Barcelona, then again train to Perpignan. Property was a little difficult to find following sat nav which takes you around a maze of little roads but was in fact accurate! Accommodation was very well provided with kitchen equipment, linen, basic consumables, such as tea and coffee, dishwasher tablets, washing liquids etc. so easy to just move in and cater in if wished, including on a larger gas bbq (there was also a basket of fruit and some wine and spirits!). Owners David and Jan are on hand if needed but not in the way. Beautiful pool, many places to sit and read and choice of tables indoor or out for meals, enough land to roam within grounds - 'beating the bounds' takes around 20-25 minutes! Around 12-15 minutes walk to choices of bakers, butchers, greengrocers and fishmonger to stock up on daily provisions and pleasant circular walk in other direction to beautiful views from the local chapel (long enough for an early morning run). There were bicycles which we didn't use. Chateau Valmy worth a visit for lunch/dinner. Could do trip by public transport (on non strike days!!) we used a hire car to good effect with easy trips to Gerona in Spain and around the local coastline. Would definitely recommend.

Wow

  • 5 of 5

The house, grounds and views are stunning. The photographs really don't tell the whole story. The facilities inside and out are fantastic. The relaxed, care-free atmosphere was wonderful. We consider this, by far, thee best private holiday rental we've ever had the pleasure of staying in. The icing on the cake of our stay was our 5yr old daughter mastered swimming un-aided in the pool. My only negative point would be that I didn't book a longer stay. Mr. & Mrs. R, thank you, we're already planning a return trip from Aberdeen.

Absolutely superb !

  • 5 of 5

The photos tell only part of the story. The beautiful accommodation is clean, comfortable and well equipped. The pool is the icing on the cake.

The tranquil and peaceful villa location is only a short walk into Argeles village, where there are numerous bakeries, patisseries, shops and restaurants. A large supermarket and Argeles beachfront are only a short drives away. David and Jan remain very discreet but are on hand to offer advice or answer any queries.

Would we return to Maison de Foret ? In a hearbeat !

Would we recommend this property ? In a hearbeat !

Many thanks, David and Jan, for allowing us to enjoy our stay.

Fantastic, as ever!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third visit and we still love the property. It is so comfortable and stylish. The pool and grounds are fantastic. It is so close to the beaches at Argeles, the mountains, lovely villages (Ceret is well worth a visit) and the Spanish border. Thank you David and Jan!
