Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here while attending a baseball tournament with my 15 year old son. This place was fantastic. There was plenty of room for the 3 of us. The kitchen was well appointed and we were easily able to cook meals instead of having to eat out all the time. And, did I mention this place is extremely charming? A full size washer and dryer was an added bonus to make washing uniforms a breeze. Only 10 minutes to the Boombah sports complex made showing up for early morning games less painful.

Historic downtown Sanford is an easy walk and has great restaurants and fun boutiques. When we didn't feel like cooking there were so many great restaurants to choose from! We will definitely stay here again as there are many more restaurants we want to try.

We felt very safe here and were able to park on the street very close to the alley entrance to the carriage house. A very short walk down the alley and you arrive at the door to the outer courtyard.

Fantastic place!!

Charming carriage home in a beautiful little neighborhood. Extremely pleasant and inviting hosts!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had recently gotten married and were looking for a nice quiet place to spend our Honeymoon; we could not have made a better choice! This was our first VRBO experience and we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

This cozy little carriage house is very well laid out with all the imenitites and is very pleasantly decorated/designed. A mix of nostalgic and modern touches that make for a very welcoming environment, with everything you would to need live comfortably during your stay.

Located in the beautiful little historic town of Sanford, the local scene is very inviting with plenty of things to do and places to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed spending as much time in town as we did out of it!

Edith and Hank were absolutely fantastic hosts and went above and beyond our expectations. They made us feel very welcome in their carriage home and were more than respectful of our privacy. The generosity they showed us was second to none, and the charming touches they put in before our arrival made for a more than pleasant experience. We would love to return someday and stay with them again!

If you’re looking for a quiet little place to spend some time, with inviting hosts and an outstanding atmosphere, this is the place for you!

Our only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer!

The entrance you see is NOT the entrance!!!

  • 2 of 5

Fellow travelers let me first say that I stayed at this one bedroom carriage house during the coldest week in January. Raising the temperature to 80 degrees the house stayed fairly cool on the bottom floor but unfortunately made the upstairs bedroom extremely hot and uncomfortable to sit and sleep in. This particular issue begs the question if the house will cool properly (upstairs/downstairs) in the summer. Another thing I was not crazy about, the entrance to the carriage house is located in a back alley. As a single female, traveling alone, having to walk in high heels in an unpaved back alley to get to an entrance door that is barely two feet wide did not make me feel safe to say the least. The reason why one has to walk in the back alley, one has to park either on the street or a block away by a park since the owner parks her vehicle in the fenced in back yard. One last thing I would like to mention is that none of the windows have any kind of window treatments. People can look into the house and sleeping in is out of the question. Even though I would not stay here again, for the before mentioned reasons, do know that the carriage house was tastefully remodeled.

Also, I did provide this feedback and additional recommendations/suggestions to the owner before posting this review.

Owner's Response: The carriage house has a great ac/heating system and is insulated with Roxul, a fire and soundproof natural material which really does the job. When cranking up the heat to 80', I would recommend turning it down when going upstairs to bed since there is no door at the top of the stairs and heat rises. I stayed there myself when fixing up the main house and can assure you that it works great. I do not mention in the description that there is parking on the property, but there is plenty of street parking, no need to park a block away by an open lot. The distance from the street to the narrow blue entry door to our property is about 30 steps, 10 of which through "an unpaved alley" which is very safe because of a bright security light. Come and see for yourself!

This place had everything we needed. It had historical charm plus new modern amenities. Everything was very comfortable and decor was beautiful. Everything was well thought out and it made our time there very pleasant. Our hosts were lovely. Just the right mix of friendliness and privacy. Thank you!
